  1. Ciftci would be the most unpopular signing in a long time. I don't rate him as a player or as a person & we still continue to have a mental block when it comes to strikers. I'd far rather see Scepovic given a chance ahead of this clown. He misses a hell of a lot, but at least he's there to miss them. I doubt he's the answer right enough.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but did Utd not sell Duncan Disorderly to Rangers one season, then Cleland & Bollan the following season? That was around the time Utd finally won the Scottish Cup against their "rivals" when Ally Maxwell dropped that howler. I can't remember any sort of outcry then - what's the difference now?
  3. Apparently the Utd fans aren't buying season tickets out of protest at Thompson selling us players - they're sick of it. They'll all be flocking now though. I'd just like to see some evidence of this.
  4. What are Utd's season ticket sales sitting at now & what have they been over the last few years? There will obviously be a massive spike in sales now, but I'd just like to keep my eye on this over the coming weeks.....
  5. Guid to see Wigan look like signing Ciftci. Bullet dodged there. On the basis Thompson clearly went out his way not to sell to us as the Arabs were demanding, I now fully expect a record breaking amount of season tickets to be shifted up there. Will be very disappointing if the fans still stay away - wonder what the excuse will be then.
  6. Football is a business. Don't know where you've been for the last few years.
  7. Maybe if the Utd fans started going in greater numbers, they wouldn't have to sell their best players to us.
  8. So, in short, the Utd fans aren't buying season tickets because of Celtic & if Thompson says he'll sell Ciftci to anyone but Celtic, they'll all come flooding back? Eh right, OK.
  9. Utd should just have picked another club to sell GMS or Armstrong to. That said, would have been difficult to pick when only Celtic were interested.
  10. There is no money in Scottish fitba. Buying low and selling high / selling home grown players is the way of it now. You can forget keeping hold of your best players for any more than a couple of years or trying to build a team. This applies to every club - Celtic are no different. You can't exactly pick & choose who you sell to - you sell to whoever makes you the best offer. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there were no other offers for Armstrong & GMS? You got a decent fee for Armstrong & GMS was always going to be a nominal fee given he was leaving (we sold Ledley under similar circumstances for 100 grand to put it into perspective). If another club tries to sign Ciftci & offers more than us, I don't have any doubt Thompson will sell to them. As unpalatable as losing your best players is, I'm not sure I understand the gripe here.
  11. Right, so Utd are in the position now that they'll turn down an improved offer from Celtic of say £1.3-1.5m for a player who they'll lose for nothing purely out of spite? That's nonsense & never going to happen. Ciftci would be an awful signing & hopefully this comes to nothing.
  12. Boyd going back to Killie looks a good move. He seemed a lot more mature that season he had with Killie. He was on Radio Scotland a few times & sounded like a different person - the responsibility of being an older head appeared to give him a new lease of life. I didn't see many Rangers games last season, but him & Clark actually looked decent in a couple of games. Don't know if they got injured or what, but they didn't seem to feature together much as the season wore on. He never had any pace to lose & he'll still know where the goal is, so I'll be amazed if he doesn't get 15-20 for Killie this season.
  13. Not PL darts related, but Wolfie to play in the Grand Slam of Darts for the first time. Assume an expensive divorce is something to do with it, but will be interesting to see how it goes. He won't get the best of order & he'll get a lot of stick! Hope he does well though - met him down at Lakeside a few years ago & he was a gent.
  14. What is it about loans King just doesn't seem to understand? He previously had this to say about Easdale: “As part restitution he should make the £500,000 a donation rather than a loan.” The WATP attitude never fails to amaze.
  15. Nah, I don't think it was media myth. A lot of fans didn't want him & whilst he managed to win plenty round, it never took much for the grumbles to start. Our last season in particular, lots wanted him gone again. I still had my season ticket when Strachan was the manager & I remember the Motherwell game where we lost 1-0. "Strachan, Strachan, GTF" was loud & clear that day. I'm not sure what the reasons are - not being a "Sellik man" is often the reason given. I honestly wasn't blown away when he was appointed, but I always liked him (wanted him as the Scotland manager long before he got the job). It was more how his appointment came about. Getting told MON was leaving & this is what you're getting - was a lot to take in. It was also the morning of Helicopter Sunday if I remember right? I thought we should have looked about for other options, but it turned out for the best.
  16. I've got much fonder memories of MON's time as manager, but a lot of that was down to the players & money he was able to work with. Things ended on a downer under Strachan, but his record was superb & I never got my head around the hostility from a lot of Celtic fans. That said, I think most Celtic fans are now far more positive when they talk about him. MON's tactics simply haven't evolved over time & Ireland play the same very direct stuff his teams were playing years ago. When you look at how we play under Strachan, he's moved with the times alright. Both have their own qualities, but Strachan is a better manager on the whole for me.
  17. "The arrangement cannot be working for Sports Direct," King said. "Rangers have gone from a period where they were selling 500,000 shirts to selling about 50,000." Half a million shirts - that's some going. What year was this? I can't remember hearing much about it, which is amazing under the circumstances!
  18. I had loads of the 'retro' trainers of today in the 90s - makes you feel old! I forget what they were called, but I had a pair of black Adidas basketball boots that had an orange inner sock. They were cool as feck. Also had a pair of suede black Nike Air max. White tick, big air bubble round the back. I'd pay a fair bit to get them again now. LA Gear had their version of Reebok Pumps - LA Gear Air Regulator. Would look stupid now, but they were brilliant when I was 12!
  19. I see the lassie who organised the petition has had to delete her FB & Twitter accounts after her & her family have received death threats. Is today not an educational, family fun day, organised to dispel all those silly misconceptions? If it wasn't pissing down, I'd have gone myself. I just thought it was a day for fat weirdos to wear silly hats & gloves & get it up the Kaffliks whilst John Law turned a blind eye for the day. Sounds like there's so much to learn. No much of a day for all the skinny wee tramps to go "pas aff" at the side ha ha ha
  20. Getting promoted, selling 35-40k of bumped up season tickets & another share issue was the grand plan.
