  1. I'm failing to see the difference, you're welcome to explain. You don't say you could see him getting the ball. all you say is you watch the replay and it didn't look like he got it. Is my conclusion that you therefore don't think he got it a massive and unreasonable leap? If you can't explain your view sufficiently for people to understand what you mean, perhaps a football forum isnt the best place for you. eh? change my tune in what way?

ah, sorry boss. i dont always remember exactly who said what in every post.
  3. For me, if you take the ball and don't go into the player then it's not reckless or excessive force. He's controlled and blocking infront of the player, who then comes into him. Carelss for having the studs up, maybe. If Greer had more forward momentum and had gone thru Lewandowski, then sure, i'm 100% with you it was a red no questions asked.

I think you're missing all the otehr things that have been said in this thread.. "in my opinion he's starting to fizzle out. His delivery wasn't great in the last two games which wasn't like him and whereas in the past he could run at the opposition all day long, they stop him quite easily now. He's been a good player for Scotland in the past but I think this will be Hutton's last campaign." "Yep he's had his chance." "a defensive liability. times up." "I do wonder whether Hutton has been told not to run at/past players or whether he simply can't do it any more." "Hutton has been a liability for years" "should be binned based on those 2 performances" "he is lazy and getting back and is always a yard to slow to the challenge." "Calum Paterson could well be the answer in a couple of years but we need someone now" "Can't believe we have guys on here defending Hutton" "He is one of the laziest players I've seen in a Scotland shirt." No one disagrees that he had a poor game in Poland, not even himself! All I want is for people to pay some vague attention, respect what he's done over the piece and not suddenly start saying he should never play for scotland again. That's just pure idiotic.
  5. Fair enough. I'd say that he got the ball and he doesn't go thru the man, the man kicks him and that's where all the force comes from. Maybe he was lucky, his studs were up more than they needed to be and on another night he might have been sent off for it. If your point just that it was dangerous, rather than it was a foul?
  6. Yes. He came on in the friendly in Poland in March. Where is he? err.. below Whittaker on the list. Wrongly in my view, but it's Strachan's squad to choose and he's earnt the right to call up whoever he wants.
  7. if you cant see greer getting hte ball then.. there's not really much point disagreeing with you. you should probably surrender your driving license till you get yourself off to specsavers tho.
  8. I think they just believe that they'll get a couple of chances and that they have the quality to take them.
  9. To be fair, the introduction of Mila gave them a lot more dynamism up front. Mila, Milik and Grosicki looked like decent players, along side Lewandowski. We lost a grip on midfield when we made our changes and Poland seemed to sense they could get back in it (which they did). You've got to give them some credit for raising their game for the final 15-20 minutes and really putting us under pressure all over. Up until they point they'd been happy to let us have it outside their half pretty much. It's a little disappointing we didn't keep the ball as well in that final period, we'd handled it so well in tight situations the rest of the game, but we're still an improving side. we're not the finished article yet, but we are getting better and better since strachan came in. not sure that not playing robertson was a massive mistake. I'm not at all a fan of whittaker at left back. he's so right footed that when he's at left back he plays us into trouble simply thru that. not to mention that he's not actually very good at any of the basic defensive duties. he didnt have a disastrous game tho. got in a couple of decent blocks and while he still got embarassed by a 32 year old from Slask Wroclaw, he did mostly ok. I don't think strachans call of limitting our fulbacks and not overcommiting players forward during the game was a bad one and he probably picked whittaker because he's more mature and so probably more inclined to resist charging forward. it let us contain poland really well for most of the match and combined with Maloney offering up as a midfield option it gave us a lot of control and security. Do i think robertson's up to the job? absolutely. did him not playing affect the result at all? probably not.

Yep. Not disagreeing with that. It does seem that he's a regular for taking pelters from fans tho. He's played well for a good long while for us now, and because of one game, after which he holds his hands up and says he didnt have a good one, he's suddenly rubbish. People seem eager to forget the good performances and that he played pretty damn well for us for a long time while he wasnt even getting a game for his club. All of it's erased from memories. Suddenly he's past it and too old to go past people, even tho he did once last night and did numerous times at the weekend. People are so pathetically fickle and seem to be too eager to bash certain players and for me that's just stupid. Hutton should have started the game. He deserved it for his performances under Strachan. He's playing well and regular for his club. He had a bad day at the office. No need for a crucifiction.
  11. Greer on Lewandowski.. Greer puts hiw foot out and get the ball before Lewandowski does. Lewandowski mis-kicks as a result (Greer moved the ball) and his follow thru hits Greers foot. How is it a foul if Greer knocks the ball away first and Lewandowski kicks him? I'd maybe criticise Greer as he seems to straighten his leg a bit which could really have hurt the Pole, but other than that. You can argue it's dangerous play.. but for me he takes the ball first and he hasn't followed thru into the player, the contact is fron the player's own follow thru.

Greer had a good game, so we've got to find someone else to blame.. hutton's always a convenient one.
  13. We're fine right now. 0 points away to Germany is pretty much expected. 3 from a potentially tricky home tie against a very defensive Gerogia is exactly what we needed. 1 point away to one of our rivals for 2nd is spot on. Draw away, win at home. That's what'll get us there. Sure, Ireland got a fotunate extra point, but it's not going to be the last surprise this group has to offer. Right now we're getting the results we want and we should be happy about that. Ignore what other teams are doing, focus on us getting the results we want. 2 home games coming up. 3 points from each and we're bang on target.
  14. I like so see good positioning, strength and the ability to tackle and head a ball.. whittakers quite shite at all of those.
  15. he challenged for the ball, won it and cleared it to hanley's feet. when will people stop blaming greer for hanley handing the ball to their strikers 6 yard out? it's utterly ridiculous.
  16. i dont actually remember naismith doing an aweful lot of note on the ball. he did a lot of good work off it, making runs, pulling people around and making space for others, but in terms of link up i don't recall a lot. and obviously the two pretty horrific misses, especially the 2nd one. ;o
  17. For me he was decent 1st half, but for much of the 2nd went a bit missing. I'd have pulled him for Martin around 60-65 mins, but to be fair he then came back into for the last 15 minutes and had a couple of good moments, playing in Naismith and Morrison. Still I'd probably rather have given Martin the opportunity. He did well at what he needed to do when he came on, held the ball up well, won free kicks constantly and played down the clock. Clearly what he was told to do. Would have been nice to see him given longer and the freedom to actually attck tho. Tough call between Fletcher and Naismith to start up front. I'd be a little surprised if we play both again tonight.
  18. eh? Poland had most of the game and had 15 shots to our 5. Norway dominated possession and had 19 attempts to our 3. The usa had more of the ball but admittedly only 7 shots. In all we defended 14 corners without conceeding. Greer played a decent part in those games and hasn't let us down. I'd go with Berra, but I'm not going to give Greer undeserved stick because I'm too lazy to think up a real reason.
  19. andyD

    Berra

bbc has greer on the bench in their match report too.
  20. Berra's playing the better of the two in the league at the moment.. and is a left footer, so he'd make a more natural choice to play on that side of central defense. I don't think greer's let us down but I'd probably go with Berra.
  21. It'll almost certainly be Gilks, Strachan has respect for him as he's mentioned him a couple of times now when he's missed out on a squad. To call up someone else now would be a bit of a slap in the face and i don't see WGS doing that.
  22. I'm really hoping you're just trolling. Yes, greer did take a while to get up.. because he's already won the ball, then slipped getting back up and it was in hanley's posession so he looked around to see where everyone else was. if you're trying to blame greer for the goal because he was slow to get up when it was hanley who gave the ball away 10 yards from goal, then.. i will just never understand some people. the guy who gives the ball away in the penalty area for the goal is great and 'the future' the guy who won the challenge and got the ball safely to a teammate is bad and at fault. aye ok..
  23. hush yourself. I read your posts as is blindingly oibvious. go back to my original post and see i was replying to the guy who said he was a bad player. if that's the kind of pishy comment you want to make, get of your horse and take your own advice by reading people posts.
