  1. Scott Gemmill failed to mention the u17 Euro finals where we barely registered a shot at goal.
  2. last 10, no problem at all. I'll hear no more on the subject.
  3. Collins was a good player who got the most out of his talent by constantly practicing and training well. He couldn't run a game like Fergusin could. Only McStay rivals him for talent in that role. McAllister was another terrific player (disliked by Scotland fans) with less talent than Ferguson but a better career. Ferguson peaked at 24 due to a series of very bad knee injuries.
  4. and he was derided as Barry back pass and so on. He was in a completely different class to our current midfielders.
  5. The point is Slovakia are mince so let's not think we're beaten before we kick a ball, which is our speciality.
  6. Our problem is retaining the ball under pressure. That requires technique and core strength.
  7. a fairly poorly performing Welsh side beat them in a match lacking in quality.
  8. They were very poor. No excuses for us.
  9. The most ability in the squad along with S. Fletcher and Snodgrass.
  10. Two sides to this. Bannan's should be in, he makes us tick. We do need pace and power upfront though. We need lucky goals, and as Strachan says, we currently require about 10 passes to get a shot away. Get the ball up quickly and have a crack but without lumping it up the park. That's where Bannan comes in and wide players with pace and a good first touch.
  11. McKay will play centrally when he moves up a level. He's got everything for that position. He's stuck out wide on account of his pace at the moment, but it's not really his game at all.
  12. I missed most of the second half, but McKay had a good last 10 minutes.
  13. I think it's only fair to judge it after a full pre-season.
  14. Steven Fletcher's hair is one of the few positives that can be taken from the match.
  15. Banann is the most technically gifted player in our squad and in the Championship team of the year, but it's all about opinions.
  16. I've included 7 positives versus 1 negative. That's glass 7/8ths full.
  17. No, Ritchie gives the ball away or cannot receive it. Bannan, S. Fletcher, Snodgrass, Morrison, Maloney, McGinn, McKay amongst others can all look after a football. Someone that's slow and unskillful i.e. can't commit players, and can't consistently retain possession, is a liability.
  18. Not in my case. Snodgrass is back, while he's also slow (although not as slow) he's miles ahead technically. The rest of the team needs pace and ability, not someone who can take the odd swing at the ball. Ryan Fraser, Watt, McCormack, McKay, Phillips - all quick, technical players that can stretch the opposition.
  19. I agree with much of this but Strachan should have spoken to the Hibs and Rangers management. I have high hopes for Mackay and McGinn - a good relationship between the Scotland set up and their clubs would help.
  20. He kept losing the ball against Poland.
