Yeah, Clarke is picking his best players and fitting them into a formation as best he can. I agree that’s the way to do it.

Ukraine have less of an advantage here. They’ve played a tough game four days ago and haven’t had months to prepare for this one. I suppose they may have had a look at what they’d do against Wales but the focus must’ve been on Scotland.

One man’s gamesmanship is another’s game management. Let’s not pretend we wouldn’t do exactly the same leading 2-0 away in a WC playoff. As for “happy clappy” - have a heart man.

Who can say? We always used to complain about internationals in June and how everyone was knackered. Obviously Ukraine weren’t cos they’ve not been playing. We didn’t really get close to them at all tonight, they seemed to have all the time and space they wanted.

Most of them speak pretty good English as well, so more fool Malcolm.

That’s what I said, they’re not a poor side. They also didn’t lose any of their group games and drew with France twice. I didn’t expect them to stroll the game, but they did.

I thought Ukraine would be rusty but they looked fresh. Scotland looked like we were playing internationals in June after an 11 month season.

Possibly a stupid question, but is there no October international break this year? Sacrificed to make room for World Cup I assume?

Was it doing it wrong? I couldn’t select a specific section - could only say East Lower, West Upper etc - so had to keep selecting fresh tickets when it offered me 503 and 506. I fancied 501 but I took 128 when they appeared. Still hopeful my 11 points might get me an official ticket.

Just got the hospitality details thru from FAI. €350 + VAT. Um…

I’m booked to go although I’m only on 11 points and my boy is on 12 so touch and go for an official ticket. Watching FAI site as a precaution, and have my mate Brendan in Roscommon on standby just in case… 😉
