SPFL have a significant financial problem due to lack of sponsors so I imagine is one way of plugging that gap. It looks too contrived and probably means the SPFL will use the old club new club card as a tactic. It will be interesting to see how this develops because the SPFL or whatever form it was in have already withheld funds from Rangers for a range of issues. Another way of looking at is it is part of a broadside against the current regime. This, plus Ally's pay off and a potential failed IPO for £8m in Jan may force the regime into a corner and by releasing this statement on the stock exchange they are trying to get fans on board for their cause.
