  1. I remember that Pantani ride in 98. He was great to watch in his pomp. I think what looks most damning for Sky is their similarity to Motorola/USPS/Discovery when Armstrong was dominating the Tour. It is the fact that several of their riders are able to stay with the main climbers for most, if not all, of the climbs. Easy to see why it looks like a systematic team doping effort.
  2. Even if Froome released every single data product that exists, it still won't remove much doubt. Trouble is that there is literally nothing you can do to prove you are not doping. Unless you ride like absolute pish, I suppose
  3. I'm certainly not saying Froome is clean, but it must piss you right off if you are clean and all you get asked are questions about doping. To be expected, though, given the prevalence of doping in recent years.
  4. Last thing you need when doing 80 km/h on the descent is a herd of fecking coos ambling across your path!
  5. Nae pretense from me. It's a shite posh sport and always has been.
  6. Obviously we need to wait for the mountains to really tell, but Froome certainly looking the strongest of the main GC contenders so far.
  7. Intial radio reports stated that LottoNL-Jumbo's Laurens ten Dam had abandoned with a dislocated shoulder, but he was later reported in the peloton. The first announcement was not erroneous, according to team director Nico Verhoeven. “His bike was already on top of the car," Verhoeven said. “We thought that he was out of the race, but he said that he didn’t want to leave the Tour and that his shoulder had to be popped back in. When we knew that the race was neutralised, he was able to return quietly. He was chatting quickly afterwards. Laurens is a tough one.” Ten Dam added, “I said that they had to pop my shoulder back in. I have trained very hard, so I don’t want to abandon the race even before we enter France. As long as I’m in the race, it’s possible that I can recover. Tomorrow, I’m going to try it on the cobblestones. It will be painful, but afterwards, I have four days to recover. The Alps are just in two weeks and maybe everything is different at that moment.” http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/tour-de-france-injuries-galore-from-stage-3-crashes
  8. How high up the field does he have to finish for that to come in?
  9. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/man-with-some-knowledge-of-tennis-simply-insufferable-2015070199767
  10. Exactly. 90% of bailout funds have been going straight back to the banks: http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2015/7/1/greek-bailout-money-went-to-banks-not-greece.html It's madness to keep up this cycle. (Unless you are the bank, of course.)
  11. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jul/01/syriza-cave-in-elites-regime-change I think this opinion piece has it spot on. The ruling banker class don't want the plebs taking control. Some parallels to the Scottish independence vote here.
  12. Contador has to be favourite, but any of the top 4 are in with a good shot.
  13. Out of possible Pot 1 teams, Wales are absolutely a dream draw. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs some serious help.
  14. Thank God for this post. I was starting to think the whole place had gone mental.
  15. My favourite beer is probably Cantillon. Very difficult to find usually, but Brel on Ashton Lane had it last time I was in.
  16. Aye, they are fixed wheels. No need for brakes, they just add weight and you can slow down by slowing your pedalling.
  17. I think one of the problems with the ranking system is that all losses are treated equally. Getting humped 10-0 by San Marino has the exact same impact on your ranking as a 1-0 defeat to Brazil.
  18. I'd be fecking amazed if Salazar wasn't involved in a massive systematic doping effort.
  19. I don't disagree that this is a ridiculous game to play, but I'd be interested to hear what the financial benefits really are. How much money will the SFA make out of this and, more importantly, how will they spend it? No chance we'll ever find out, though.
