  1. Yes I asked SNCF directly earlier about 17:40 and they confirmed definitely running!
  2. Not good for the 'Boat-Shoe Tartan Army'!!
  3. I must get Eurostar a dozen times a year and it's never that quick - unless you are 'Business Premier' Deecie? It's not the time or distance between stations I am worried about it is the chance that the Edinburgh train will be delayed. It is much stricter at Eurostar these days (understandable) and they absolutely close boarding 30 minutes before departure. I didn't have to cut it so fine and now Metz train is cancelled, have just been given another two hours waiting time in Paris!
  4. 43 minutes for us between Edinburgh-London train and Eurostar!! I got a message from SNCF earlier........your 17:40 is DEFINITELY running. Just that 40 minute transfer to negotiate!!
  5. I read somewhere on SNCF or on SNCF Twitter that in times of strike, the only way to buy tickets is at the station.....Although later trains seem to be available for purchase.....e.g, 20:40 arriving 22:04. Conflicting stories! My train is cancelled and although I read a tweet that said someone could get on the next train even if it is full, I then got a tweet saying that this is possible if you are aged, pregnant etc. So even more conflicting stories. I will try to get on the next available train and ask questions later......just hope they aren't doing a full ticket check at the entrance to the platform. Not sure what your best bet would be?? If you are arriving after 4pm, then maybe a train at 8.40 pm isn't that much of a stretch.......plenty worse places to pass a few hours! Hopefully Metz is 'open' way past 22:04!! Just make sure to get in touch with hotel in advance.
  6. I got an email from SNCF last night to say my train from Paris - Metz has been cancelled. They were already few and far between and the next one is two hours later....showing as full, but just going to have to jump on it!! It was supposed to be thwe 15:40 on Friday.
  7. I am on SNCF trains a lot and the only time I have been asked for ID is for self-print tickets. They sometimes just want to see the bank card used for the booking. Don't think there will be a problem. My last journey in March was from the Spanish border near Biarritz to Paris and I didn't even have my ticket checked on the train and the journey was around 6 hours......I think Paris to Metz being so short (if thats the tickets booked) will be no problem. p.s. I have never had tickets checked in bar car!!
  8. Good move - free drinks and meal included!!
  9. Not any more - they are open six months ahead now.....the weekends are still 12 weeks'ish. If that's what you mean, then excuse me!! That is if the journey is London and North of York. So the Friday one is open and the Saturday one isn't (on Virgin anyway).....although you can get full fare tickets as mentioned by Langtonian. Early birds can get Edi-Lon return for £50 minimum.
  10. Seems everyone is sorted - good news. I will hold room until Monday and will have to cancel before I forget!!
  11. Train ticket sale now open for the day of the game if it is any good to anyone - I think they opened yesterday. Can make a big difference getting in fairly early - return tickets won't be available for a while as the six months only applies to weekday travel.
  12. I still have a room to cancel in Metz - Ibis Metz Cathédrale if I remember correctly. Two nights Friday and Saturday and believe it was around 85€ per night. I was going to book in there with my wife so I'm sure it is a double room but expect they could make it a twin without any bother......although I will check later as it may well have been a twin being that there was low availability at the time. I am sure we can have the room assigned to someone else - pm me if still looking for a room.
  13. Yes - early doors it was neck and neck between cup winning goal and the Sam Mackay one......it WAS a peach. David Gray's won it for pure theatre and GIRUY timing!
  14. Aw....,,,,the big bear was just probably hungry and was just acting on instinct. He doesn't know it is wrong to eat a child.
  15. Not saying it is right - or even close to being reasonable - but I remember the official SSC tickets for Parc des Princes being higher than that!! 120 € I think they were??? The most I think I have ever paid for a ticket....although worth it to see McFadden's goal!! I remember getting mates tickets from FNAC in France in the 'home' end for as little as 15 € though. Can't really compare a friendly in Metz to that game though but I think I would sooner buy 80 quid ticket than have no ticket. Having said that, our group has 4 out of 5 for the SSC section and not tempted yet to buy one of those at £80 - as someone else mentioned, not too worried about getting the last ticket when over there.
  16. I joined their Supporters club.......but the tickets allocated to them (us? ) sold out pretty quickly. It doesn't say sold out, only that the allocation for the supporters club had. I'm sure they have held some back for public sale.
  17. Not fancy the French ticket public sale??? Maybe your Amsterdam address would help although apparently they do e-tickets. You won't be alone sitting in sections (R&S) beside away section (P&Q)! Shame to take hit on flights when tickets should be failry easy to obtain??
  18. Yes - seemed to be easy and confirmation email received........in normal circumstances that would be it......right?! Funny how the middle price tickets were the only ones available? I thought the mst expensive ones would be last to go???
  19. Me too!! Pesky saved card button!! Another bit of drama was due to two of us simultaneously accessing site - thought it would be a real rush to buy - when I got through to what I thought would have to be a one chance quick checkout....I was getting error message saying we had two items in basket.....couldn't figure it out then had to cancel and buy again.....glad they were still available, but got same error before realising we had to cancel the basket items on other tablet!!! Phew.....Le Boom aussi!!
  20. They are €42 for a league game but that is second division. Don't know if that means our price is reasonable - probably means that the €42 is a bit steep for a 2nd Div match. If you really want a laugh (or cry) at prices......go to the VIP Packages section on the FC Metz website........you do get a lot.......but eye-watering!! http://www.fcmetz.com/sites/default/files/pdf/franceecosse_brochurevipbdc_2.pdf For the cheapest package, €344.84 inc VAT, you do however get met by "hôtesses".....so I would refer judgement on the price until I fully understood what this entails!
  21. Thanks Dalgety Bay - seems my guess was spot on! What I wasn't spot on about is the ticket window.....I thought 7-10 pointers had one day....then 6 for a day....5 etc. Oops!! Putain!! My confiidence of getting ticket has diminished now that I have to wait a further couple of days!!
  22. I was wondering same - I looked at Metz next home game and unavailable sections (assumed away sections) are at the very right of the East Stand upper and lower level (P&Q I think from memory) and a slither of the very far end of the North stand (furthest end from East stand). Obviously don't know how many tickets they are giving to the away fans for the league game but it might tie in with what someone mentioned earlier? So maybe R&S would be the best bet in East stand.....would have to double check though. Metz website was playing havoc with my laptop! No idea about the most expensive seats though (are these the tickets totalling 100?)......might be a slither of the South stand nearest to the away fans?? That would be Trib. Sud section A.
