  1. He does, if he rejects the contract then he stays at Celtic. Would he though? He is hated and derided by Celtic fans and played out of position. I'm not sure he'd want to go back to that.
  2. I'm surprised nearly everyone has Taylor in their squad. I see little to no point in taking him. If god forbid Robertson got injured, you'd want Tierney one of the best LBs in the world to play in his natural position. Surely we'd play a natural CB and Tierney at LWB, rather than Tierney out of position and a lesser LB in Taylor at LWB.
  3. They can't. The option means for whether Oostende wish to make the deal permanent or not. This would have been written in the initial loan contract. Celtic would have no say in the matter and will be contractually obligated to accept the offer should Oostende meet the optional fee. in fairness to Celtic, I don't think anyone foresaw Jack Hendry having such an upturn. Before the season started Celtic probably couldn't believe their luck that a club, would be willing to potentially give them £1.5-2 million for Jack Hendry. Football is a funny old game.
  4. Jon McLaughlin is a good solid keeper and one of the better keepers in the league. He was Scotland's number 2 before he joined Rangers. He isn't some unknown, he played for years as number 1 at Hearts and Sunderland. McLaughlin is good on the ball and an all round solid keeper but just doesn't have that X-factor save in him. He's basically Neil Alexander 2.0 a good keeper but hasn't got that ridiculous/world class save that McGregor has in his locker
  5. I am a Rangers fan but unless we are missing 3/4 keepers I wouldn't call on McGregor. He made his choice and it wouldn't really be fair on now our other keepers who turned up every squad. I'd say Jon McLaughlin is a good keeper aswell. He will probably be number 1 in the league for the rest of the season at Rangers. He'll probably be in the squad and be Gordon's number 2 (if Marshall isn't fit). Bain for me is a poor keeper and is only first choice at Celtic because Barkas is a dreadful keeper. He will be number 2/3 or gone in the summer. After that you have Zander Clark, Liam Kelly and the Portsmouth keeper. Just squad options really. On McCrorie he is nowhere near the level required atm. He's had a poor season and it seems to have affected him. FYI I'm not writing him off, McGregor was in a similar position at McCrorie's age. Hopefully he can kick on next season and get a decent loan and get some confidence.
  6. I thought Shankland was quite poor and looked nervous on the ball. I was far more impressed by Appere. He came on and looked very good. Fast, strong, good in the air and skilful. I'm surprised he doesn't start more for Dundee United. He's still only 21 so still a lot of development there.
  7. If the Belgian league is pretty poor, then how bad is the SPL? The Belgian league is far superior to the SPL. The Belgians have multiple teams into the group stages of the champions league and Europa League. I genuinely can't remember the last non Rangers/Celtic team to make the group stages of a European competition. Was it Aberdeen 13 years ago? He is playing well in a superior league to our own. Surely he deserves a call up over a guy like Considine.
  8. Well I think there is a very good case for his involvement. He is playing at a higher level than most of our (natural) CBs and is performing to a high standard. He's also younger than most of our CBs and a lot of people seem to be judging him on his previous Celtic performances. He joined Celtic far too early, he wasn't ready for that level and had very little first team experience at that point. It showed in his performances. since then he has gone out and experienced different things. This has clearly had a positive effect on his development. For me he should be above the likes of Considine and probably Gallagher. He is years younger than both and playing well at a better level. Whereas Considine and Gallagher have had average/poor seasons.
  9. It's came from football insider. I wouldn't really trust the rumour. I'd also be surprised if Celtic's managerial appointment comes before their DoF appointment. To me the DoF should be in charge of finding the next manager. Also with McKay still at Scottish Rugby wouldn't it be Lawell doing the appointing and leg work of a new manager and DoF.
  10. I mean you'd like to think either Patterson or Rooney would come in for Liam Palmer. Patterson a very promising start and Rooney bang in form.
  11. Had a good game. I keep hearing "ohh he needs to fill out" and "bulk up". He's now played against 2 very physical sides (Livi and Antwerp) and hasn't been out strengthened or pushed off the ball. He's one of those players who looks slight but is actually quite strong. His attacking strengths have always been very good, but I'm surprised how well he has done defensively. I thought he might struggle a little at first coping with the movement and physical nature of men's football but he has been outstanding defensively in these last 2 games. From what I've heard Tav probably won't be back for a while, so unless he gets a ban he will first choice for atleast the next 4/5 games.
  12. On who scored Shane Duffy is rated the 8th best player in the SPL.
  13. Personally regardless of ban or not, I'd take Patterson to the EURO's (Gilmour aswell). Not over O'Donnell but for Palmer. Palmer is approaching 30 and is below average and will most likely be nowhere our squad again after the EURO's. Patterson on the other hand is our most promising RB (followed by Ashby at West Ham). Neither Patterson or Palmer is likely to get any minutes at the EURO's but for our long term future taking Patterson would be better. It would give him the experience of being there and gets him integrated into the set up early. We have a nasty habit of waiting far too long to call up younger players. Our squads end up with little international experience despite alot being in their mid/late 20s. I'd take Billy Gilmour over a Kenny McLean for the exact same reason. These players are the future. Having squad fillers in their late 20s over giving squad experience to more promising players is something we need to avoid going forward.
  14. Slavia Prague are a good team. This is a harder draw than it seems. That said it is still a winnable tie and far better than drawing Man Utd or the like. Outside of Molde, YB or Olympiacos this probably the best draw we could've got. It's also good the Ukrainian sides got 2 very hard opponents. Shakhtar got Roma and Kiev got Villarreal. Hopefully both go out without picking up any coefficient points.
  15. I prefer a molde or Prague. Decent teams but you'd fancy Rangers. Personally I'd like Villarreal. We did well against them 2 years ago, with a lesser squad. It would be a difficult game as Villarreal are a good side but I think it would be a good tie.
  16. Morelos has been unreal in these 2 games. Involved in 8 out of Rangers 9 goals over the 2 legs, absolutely unreal.
  17. I'm surprised they haven't been punished yet. I doubt it will be as severe as Jones/Edmundson. They never punished anyone in Dubai (despite photographic evidence of covid breaches) and then the SFA's own failure at the weekend. So they are in a position where the conspiracy nuts would come out. I also heard the breach wasn't as severe as the other 2's. It was supposedly them playing FIFA together and not a house party (which was the case with Jones/Edmundson). Still absolutely stupid and not defending their stupidity. 3 game ban for them, I would guess. So probably back at the split.
  18. Patterson on at halftime for Balogun, 30 seconds later he scores his first goal for Rangers
  19. It's no who he will replace now, this first 6 months is about him bedding into rangers' style, training and the pressure that comes with that. This what happened with Kamara and others. What I've seen from him, I've been impressed with. He seems to have very good close control and a quick turn of pace. At the weekend Wright and Aribo had this lovely interplay down the left late on (wasn't show on Sportscene but if the final pass came off it would've been a world class team goal). I'm not sure how well he'll do but so far he seems far more suited (& better) than Barker, Jones and Stewart to Rangers style of play. Post pre season I think he will see a lot more action. I'm not sure if he'll have Kamara levels of success but I think he could be atleast a very good squad player. I also think their is a chance Stephen Kelly makes it into the Rangers team next season. He has the same playstyle as the player Stephen Davis has become. A year learning from Davis, while playing the role of 4th choice CDM (Zungu atm) could be a good path for him, to eventually take over from Davis the season after.
  20. We can draw one of those games and still win the league with a draw at parkhead. Gap is currently 18 points, a draw and a win takes it to 16 points (providing Celtic win their games). Draw at Parkhead and it remains 16 points with 15 to play for.
  21. Patterson must be kicking himself right now for his absolute stupidity. Looking at Tav going off with a potentially serious injury. Patterson would've been first choice RB for potentially the remainder of the season. Instead he'll sit in the stands for atleast 7 games. Hopefully he learns from his mistake and grows up.
  22. Hendry plays in the middle of the back 5. That is where he is thriving, if he replaces anyone then it is Gallagher in the middle.
  23. Surely it will be Holt. Killie fan with a decent record and has a similar play style to Kilmarnock.
