  1. The Holtham commission has already proposed that Scotland should lose £4 billion from it's block grant - the £25 billion uk wide cut will see another £2 billion go. Scotland loses 20% of it's block grant and that will create chaos. The BBC and others are preparing the ground - suggesting we are subsidised. It's the other way round but they'll take our cash to reduce the deficit/debt every day of the week if they can get away with it. The holtham commission cut is there to address southern jealousy at the stuff Scotland gets that England doesn't - free care for the elderly, free education, no prescription charges, council tax freeze etc. The ability of the Scottish government to make a difference is to be extinguished financially. New powers without the financial resources are meaningless.
  2. People didn't put years or months into this to walk away after a result much of which can be put down to a few newspaper editors and the bbc newsroom. That was not democracy in any shape or form. When one side is allowed to lie through their teeth and the state broadcaster aids in it a sense of major injustice was created. When the unionist phone banks went into full scare mode against senior citizens, people on benefits, immigrants, on the monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of the last week , spouting whatever lie was required to change the vote anger was added to injustice. Major lines were crossed in this referendum campaign - scaring the crap out of o.a.p s about their pensions is as low as you can get. Makes you wonder why they were so determined to keep us.
  3. You can't actually sample postal votes. That's the point. After the postal vote has been validated, the vote is taken out of the envelope and placed facedown on the table. You cannot see the preference on the vote - well maybe one or two if the counter is careless - but never enough to make any conclusion whatsoever, So - she does have a case to answer.
  4. Best for Scotland? You obviously have no idea of the financial tsunami that is about to engulf our people. Stability? When the debt is rising by the day and exceeds £1.4 trillion. It's equivalent to £33,000 per working person. When they have finished making life even tougher from those at the lower levels of society who do you think they are coming for next? Society and business.
  5. Not planning to sing it, but after the booze...?
  6. Santander or nationwide I reckon - will start the process of moving stuff from RBS tomorrow
  7. Spent the last few days with people who all feel the way I do and lots of alcohol. My son went into work on Friday and the first thing the local office idiot said "that's a big relief this morning". Just as well I wasn't there.
  8. has there been an analysis on how the different nationalities in Scotland voted?
  9. A day is coming when Scotland won't be playing as a team at all.
  10. We arrived in Amsterdam ready to fly to Luton and then Edinburgh on Monday with easyjet. It took them awhile to get organised. We got put into a hotel in Amsterdam, they gave us a voucher for the evening buffet, and a breakfast box in the morning. They transferred us to Gatwick and then onwards to Edinburgh. But the first flight was delayed by 40 minutes, there was another 35 minute delay at passport control, so we missed the second flight. They then, eventually, got us on to a 6pm flight, tried to get us to pay £65 but agreed we should not pay. The flight was delayed by another hour. Nightmare return - but didn't cost us a penny.
  11. The polls are disregarding the new intake to the registers - hundreds of thousands of them.
  12. Companies are going nowhere - it's ridiculous. Some of these guys said the same during the devolution debate and are still here. The costs of relocation, creating new premises, hiring new staff, maintaining existing contacts is not done on the basis of what MIGHT happen after independence. Firms don't like change but deal with it when it happens,
  13. We have to get the undecideds to vote yes. That means as many people as possible canvassing over the next fortnight.
