  1. That really is a special win. The hip operation he had was ground-breaking for a singles player and seen to be a great risk. He took that risk when his career looked done at the start of the year. Here he is nine months later winning a singles title against a three times Slam winner who is inside the World top 20 and was by no means playing shabby tennis. It really is a testament to his grit and determination and will to succeed that is remarkable.
  2. What a Herculean effort. Andy Murray has won the European Open beating Stan Wawrinka 3-6 6-4 6-4. Unbelievable. He was breaks down in the second and third sets and fought back to win an epic match. Without a doubt that is Andy's best ATP250 title of his career. This man is Lazarus. Welcome back to the big time Andy.
  3. Nothing wrong with Murray's heart. Broken twice in the third set and broke back immediately - one set all and 3-3.
  4. Great effort this by Murray. He trailed 3-1 in the second set but hauled himself back into the set and has just won it 6-4. Into a decider we go.
  5. Wawrinka takes the first set 6-3. Decent tennis played by both players. One last push of the year from Andy?
  6. For me the only way of sorting out this mess is a GE especially if the EU grant the extension until January 2020. It will be a GE fought on the basis of Brexit plans. If the Tories win it and get a big enough majority to form a government it would seem obvious to me that people are happy with his deal and that should settle it. If Labour end up in power then let them try their hand at sorting this mess. As I understand it that would be them negotiating their own deal and putting it to a People's Referendum thereafter.
  7. Anyway we shall see what will happen. The coming week could tip it one way or another.
  8. Well what do you call it when higher up authorities fought to stop him and his family getting deported back to Somalia (was it?). How does he repay that? Says he does not want to represent Scotland and wants to leave Celtic. Okay lets presume Proud Scot is correct and he has listened to bad advice. Well I'm sorry but he does have a brain and must understand basic stuff like how to be thankful. I mean he could easily have ended up back in Somalia but people moved heaven and Earth to stop that happening. Anyone with an ounce of well meaning would have grasped that he owed them a debt of gratitude. But seemingly it meant nothing to him.
  9. You do realise that around 75% of Scottish Beef (just for a start) is bought by countries in the EU? Where do you then shift that Scottish Beef trade deal on to at the drop of a hat? Bearing in mind that it is not the sort of produce that can be stored for long and does not travel great distances well.
  10. I agree. I'd be sad if he had picked up a career-threatening injury or something but there has been nothing like that. He's shat on various bodies of people who put faith on him and worked hard to keep him and his family from being flung out of the UK and he is continued on that vein since. No sympathy for him.
  11. They did but France played above themselves and Wales weren't at their best at all but still got the job done. As for Japan V South Africa well who knows what will happen there. All past history and such like suggest the Saffers should win fairly comfortably but Japan are a growing rugby nation with a lot of momentum just now so who knows?
  12. Yes Johnson's highly childish reply to Blackford's statement was weak and pathetic. A desperate attempt to gain a bit of one upmanship for someone else's achievements thousands of miles away and in no way involved with politics. It showed he suffers the confusion of others who do not understand why Scots want independence. It is a desire for self-governance and total contempt for Westminster-rule - nothing to do with anti-English sentiment.
  13. Boiled my piss yesterday when Scottish Tory Stephen Kerr had the face to get up and attack Blackford. According to him the SNP do not speak for Scotland, he told the house. FFS and the Scottish Tories do?
  14. An improving sort of performance from Murray or perhaps it was that Humbert's level dipped? Anyway Andy Murray wins 3-6 7-5 6-2. He will play Wawrinka in the final tomorrow providing Kim has not gone into labour. I cannot see Andy having enough in the tank to beat Stan the Man or being quite match sharp enough but reaching a final again is a great achievement considering his ground-breaking operation for a singles player. Murray's live ATP Ranking now up to 155.
  15. Murray hung in there in the second set until Humbert played a stinker of a 12th game for Murray to break and win the set 7-5. Into a decider we go.
  16. Murray up against it against Humbert who has just won the first set 6-3. Time for Andy to dig deep.
  17. No the deal has not failed as they have yet to vote on it. All the Letwin Amendment was is ensuring that all legislation of the Johnson deal as to be passed through parliament first before they vote on Johnson's deal.
  18. The phrase 'delusions of grandeur' spring to mind with him.
  19. It would boost morale if he got to the Final and catapult him up to 155 in the rankings. I do feel that Wawrinka may just be too big an ask in the Final though. Stan has always proved troublesome for Andy and considering Andy is still on the comeback trail and playing back-to-back matches on consecutive days for the first time in around two years it may prove physically too much as well. Also there is the chance that Andy will pull out of the semi or the final given that his wife Kim is expected to go into labour any time now.
  20. Yes I watched it live on Bet365. It wasn't Andy at his best as he should have wrapped it up in straight sets. Hey ho though a win is a win. Next up will probably be Guido Pella in the semis.
  21. Andy Murray beats Marius Copil 6-3 6-7 6-4 to reach his first singles semi-finals since his hip operation. He made it much harder for himself than it needed be as he was a break up in the second set and 4-1 up in the tie-breaker. It is a win that takes him up to a provisional ranking of 178.
  22. One thing that will be very interesting to see what happens if this is voted through. Will banks move their headquarters to Europe given that they threatened to do this if Scotland voted for independence and ended up out of the EU?
  23. I definitely see the merits of banning boxing. However, those that choose to box do so knowing the risks but still love doing it. Granted I'd bet boxers families would want it banned but at the end of the day they would be depriving loved ones of a part of their life very important to them. Sure it is bloody dangerous but where do we draw a line? Motor Sports probably has more deaths in it so do we ban that too? Cycling has seen deaths in the sport so should that go too? I am sure there are other sports out there that has caused fatalities too.
  24. Andy Murray through to the European Open QF's. He has just beaten Pablo Cuevas 6-4 6-3 in Antwerp. With it his live ATP Ranking has risen from 227 to 210. In the QF's he will face Romania's Marius Copil.
  25. According to Farage he claims this deal will mean the UK will open up the UK coast for EU fishing fleets and also have them having to respect EU laws so they aren't taking back control at all of things they could/should have. Those are Farage's words and opinion. We all know he craved a No Deal Brexit in any case.
