  1. Perhaps. And would flop - no doubt. It is more a sad indictment of us than it is for how good he is. Heck Chris Martin's stats hold up better than his and we all know what Scotland fans think of him as a player.
  2. If the player merits it then no it should not matter. Northern Ireland are now qualifying for tournaments even though they cast their nets down to the 3rd tier of English football. It has not done them any harm.
  3. English and Scottish Championship - the latter to a lesser degree admittedly.
  4. For sure but at times those players at lesser clubs were outperforming players playing at a higher level at international football. Point being that just because there is a Championship player with no top flight experience it by no means guarantees he is a worse option for us than a player playing in the EPL or SPL. My point being that some players adjust and fit international football better than others.
  5. Too much emphasis is put on where a player plays as to how they will fare at international level football. We could reel off loads of players who played at big clubs at the highest level but flopped for Scotland just like you could reel off several players who never cracked it at the highest level of league football or played at unfashionable clubs but done a great job for us.
  6. He's not keen?? Bloody hell I'm not keen - 26 games in the EPL and one goal. We have midfielders in that league with a far better strike rate.
  7. The problem I have playing Tierney left midfield is that, with Robertson presumably at left-back both players have a natural attacking mindset. I can see a yawning gap on the left flank should we get caught on the counter-attack with both AWOL trying to set up an attack. They just do not compliment one another in those roles.
  8. Yes. And take a look at his strike rate at the highest level - one goal in 26 games.
  9. How passionate did the fires burn for Hansen when playing for Scotland though? The amount of call-offs he had speaks volumes and I don't doubt he is seen as a legend at Liverpool as they saw and got the best out of him. That was not the case for Scotland. And it was the same as a pundit you always got the impression he looked down on Scotland when punditing on their games at preceding World Cup Finals. Now around that time we did benefit greatly from Aberdeen's supplying of Willie Miller and Alex McLeish. They had club understanding and so slotted in better in the centre of defence for Scotland whereas Hansen's call-offs certainly would not have helped his cause. So I would say there were more than one reason Hansen did not cut it at international level.
  10. No worries. He has run it off. Looks a bit out of place in that position to me.
  11. I'll leave you to continue your very odd agenda. I have better things to do than argue the toss over a player who has no interest in playing for us and who has scored only one goal at top level football.
  12. I could reel off several players who have an even better strike rate at Champioship level than Adams who I would not push for a place in our squad. McNulty has a goal every two games in the SPL - far better than Adams has managed anywhere in his career and over his career has better strike rate and both have had lengthy spells of football outside the top flight of football. Oliver Burke has played in the top flight in Germany, England, Spain and Scotland and has scored at international level - I'd say those stats alone place him above Adams too. Hmm so I am deluded? I am not the one pushing for a player to be in the Scotland squad who has already turned us down. Sounds to me like you are the deluded one if you think Adams will play for us or it is even a possibility. And I suggest you revisit your knowledge on levels of football - I have not put forward anyone to play for Scotland who are currently playing at non-league level. Like Ersatz Thistle said stop twisting my words.
  13. Shankland is a proven prolific goalscorer - at every level he has played at he has scored goals on an average of a goal every two games. Adams cannot make that claim and himself has very limited experience in the top flight without being a glowing success. Adams has played at levels similar to Shankland with a far worse strike rate. Why? Yes Steven Naismith is 33 but can still do a job for us as seen with goals recently. So he will be playing in the second tier in Scotland? He has already proven his ability at the highest level. A simple answer for you - no I would not have him in the squad. Strikers would be Griffiths, McBurnie, Shankland and Naismith with likes of McNulty and Burke as back up. You are making the false assumption that because I (and others) don't rate him it is because he is English and that is irrelevant. I have been right behind many English-born players that have represented us over the years - could be because they had the desire to represent us whereas he doesn't. How you can go on pursuing this when he has already kicked you squarely in the nuts is beyond me.
  14. Take the Adams specs off for a sec eh? He played 73 games at non-league level (some way down the pyramid too) and scored 14 goals averaging a goal every five and a bit games. At Championship level he averages a goal just under every four games. No goals in two appearances for England U-20's which is certainly a level below Shankland netting V San Marino however you wish to paint it. One goal in 25 EPL starts says a heck of a lot and is way below what the likes of McBurnie and what Steven Naismith managed at Everton at that level. And how would you feel about giving a chance to a player who has already told us all we need to know - HE DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR US. So not only are his credentials dubious he does not want to play for us. No thanks.
  15. Hmm is this the same Che Adams who had a worse strike rate in several seasons in non-league football than Fraser Hornby had in Belgium (and yes he could score there he netted three goals in twelve games). The same Che Adams who has one goal in 25 in the EPL - makes Ollie McBurnie look like Pele to me. Nah leave him on the rubbish tip - we do not need to go head hunting his sort with neither the record or the heart for the job. I'd sooner stick with Shankland who has shown he can score at international level or even Oliver Burke now playing in the top flight in Spain with a better strike rate than Adams.
  16. And perhaps offers the reason for the BJ Coronavirus charade. Sympathy vote and divert away criticism that they could see was coming.
  17. I went there a few years ago. Highly recommended. The prison has many of its original fittings in place and has been left as it was when a fully functioning prison. When I went thet even had the actual plaster cast head in a bumk that the prisoners actually used in their escape. You get a pair of earphones to put in so you can listen to a commentary as you walk around.
  18. That body has been discounted though as never had prison gear on which all Alcatraz inmates wore.
  19. You could counter that though with not one body washed up anywhere in the San Francisco Bay? True there are as you say questions about social security etc but reports suggested they worked on a farm in South America which would have given them financial security. Also there are those letters and postcards sent to family members said to be from the three escapees so there is enough to say it is possible they escaped.
  20. There are many documentaries around that have gone deeper into it. One I watched not too long ago states the family of the escapees sent letters and postcards to them from far flung places. Plus it is said that a car on the island they were said to have reached was reported stolen around the time they would have made landfall. All thought provoking.
  21. Exactly. I have no doubt it was all PR. There have already been reports of people have it take 8 weeks for them to return to comparative normality after fighting corona. All much fitter than Boris and say they suffered a two stone weight loss. But here Boris is out of IC and a few days later released from hospital. Sorry but I smell BS even if they gullible don't.
  22. Perhaps it was other candidates knocked out before the last three then. Apologies to Rebecca Long-Bailey but what she has said is only what Starmer said too.
  23. Exactly. I am staggered that people cannot see that the two losing candidates are vehemently against ANY second indy ref. The winning candidate has not aired those same opinions and has been open to IndyRef2. Seemingly, though some here would have preferred the former to win?
  24. Becoming leader did not depend on him appearing susceptible to IndyRef2 so why did he come across that way? I'd say he does not feel so strongly about it as the other two candidates most certainly did. They would rather have their innards taken out that allow Scotland IndyRef2. Would not say the same of Starmer.
  25. That is not my point. My point is that he is much less anti-independence than the other two candidates. Do you disagree with that?
