  1. As someone pointed out earlier we could put out a team with players playing for an EPL club in attack but, as is the way in football, that does not mean you have a stronger team because of it. We could dip all the way back to Northern Ireland's David Healey who had extremely limited top flight experience but went on to score more goals at international level than Kenny Dalglish. The clubs a player plays for does not determine how successful they are at international football. As for your question - they maybe edge it but it is not a yawning chasm like you are trying to paint. But there is a lot more to take into account such as current form which Scotland have the edge on Serbia. My thoughts are that if Hungary can beat them and they can only manage one win in the last five we should be fancying our chances not being shrinking violets.
  2. As have I. Those are the clubs their players play for. None aside from one is playing at a top club (Real Madrid) and others are at clubs either mid-table or bottom of the table. You are reading too much into the fact they play across Europe and not looking deeply enough into what club they are playing at. The EPL (in my eyes) is certainly above Ligue One where they have players playing for bottom of the table and mid-table teams. They have players playing at bottom of leagues La Liga and Serie A and I put that below the likes of a number of EPL clubs our players play for (Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds, Southampton and Aston Villa) with Sheffield United probably on a par with them. The players we have playing at Celtic and Rangers are two clubs who have better European pedigree than Strasbourg, Montpellier, Torino, Verona, Eidar and Lazio.
  3. And its easy to mess your pants and mentally beat yourself before a ball has been kicked. That's not my style.
  4. They are all, aside from a couple, playing for teams that are either mid-table or bottom of those leagues. And the EPL certainly has better standing than France's Ligue One and ours in the EPL are I'd say above levels of ones struggling in La Liga and Serie A that is my point.
  5. Hmmm look closer and it is a different picture. Their goalkeeper in the last match V Turkey was Dmitrovic who plays for a club I've never heard of in La Liga - Eibar. They had players playing for hardly the biggest clubs in France in Strasbourg (one from bottom of Ligue One) and Montpellier (a mid-table Ligue One team). A player playing for Getafe in La Liga who are probably equivalent to a mid-table EPL club. A player playing for Torino who are second bottom of Serie A and one at Torino - a mid-table Serie A club in Lazio (hmm beaten twice by Celtic last season). Another who plays for another mid-table Serie B in the form of Verona. Up front Mitovic plays for Fulham struggling in the EPL so you see it is not piss your pants time.
  6. I am assuming nothing though. Serbia are a good side but certainly not unbeatable. Yes we will be away but in an empty stadium which is also a leveller and we go into the match as the form team. Yes we can look at their side and say they have players playing for this team and that team but Serbians will be doing the same with us with the likes of Robertson, Tierney, McTominay, Armstrong et al playing in the EPL. And they have a few players playing for home based sides and I'd say recently Celtic and Rangers exploits in Europe have been more notable than Serbian clubs.
  7. 5-1 match was over a year ago now. Stretching it a lot to use that as a yardstick. And whatever way you look at it Serbia have won one of their last five matches with this 'relatively strong squad' so that alone tells me that we are definitely in with a shout - negative mindsets though and we will lose.
  8. Hmm the same Norway who struggled to beat Northern Ireland you mean?
  9. Yes but Willie Morgan was on BBC Breakfast speaking about him and wasn't going to read too much into the link with footballers and dementia as he said Bobby hardly ever headed the ball.
  10. Recent form of theirs suggests otherwise. 👍
  11. Fair play gets you nowhere in football. I have seen Scotland twice miss out on possible qualification due to opposition players diving. Their teams gained and we lost.
  12. There's a thought. Could Edinburgh airport become Sean Connery Airport?
  13. Indeed sad news. But what a superb career he had. He set the benchmark as James Bond and managed to re-invent himself after the Bond films.
  14. That was not the Internal Market Bill itself that they knocked back though it was amendments to it recommended by Lord Judge.
  15. Yes I did put up a link stating that in the Belgrade area fans aren't allowed into grounds a week or two ago.
  16. Tierney starts for Arsenal against Leicester.
  17. No Sky has him in midfield behind the strikers.
  18. Armstrong in the starting line-up for Southampton today against Everton.
  19. And this thread is my creation so take your options elsewhere and poison someone else's thread - not mine. I have asked nicely this is your last warning.
  20. Taylor1996 can I request you take your views from this thread which I started and start a new topic on it. This was set up to discuss the upcoming Serbia match. And to show that I am a fair man I am no longer going to post on any threads creating by yourself and will ask if you can do the same and not post on any of mines.
  21. Tasty? Understatement of the year. I am not a Rangers fan but that goal is a strong, strong candidate for goal of the season. He picked up the ball just outside the Rangers half, held off two or three challenges getting to the halfway line and hit a curling dipping shot over the keeper into the net. Years ago people creamed themselves over the Beckham goal - this was way better.
  22. Sorry psl but you know nothing. You are a pariah here and have had more bans than anyone else. You are just a sad individual trying to make yourself look big from behind your keyboard. Where are your coaching badges? Same place as you live. In your dreams.
