  1. Been trying to book with that and keeps saying "unable to issue travel document". Did you have that problem?
  2. Cheers lads. Saw this thread so booked Edinburgh-stansted-Brno on the Monday. £50 or so, can't complain about that at all.
  3. We were in east I'm sure for the friendly game. So back to west, which I think was traditionally the away end anyway.
  4. Hotel taxis in Bratislava. Doesn't look the most luxurious of places but we're only staying one night, sure we'll survive.
  5. I would beat that team, never mind Scotland.
  6. Shinnie is capable of playing right back, and has done so in some big games for Caley Thistle - namely their winning Scottish Cup run. Obviously it remains to be seen if he could do it at international level, but we've had four friendlies in the last few months where we could have tried him and maybe someone else out at right back to see what they could offer. Even just in training. But Strachan would rather go with Hutton and Paterson, two players out of form, than try anything.
  7. Marshall Anya Martin Hanley Tierney D.Fletcher Shinnie Forrest Morrison Snodgrass Griffiths We need someone who can put a challenge in midfield with Brown gone and that's best played by Shinnie. The likes of McGinn, Bannan, Jack, McKay are not ball winners. Also agree that McArthur too slow and I'm not sure him and Fletcher are a good partnership. Too similar. I appear to be in a minority of two along with Brendan Rodgers who actually rates Forrest. Griffiths simply has to start.
  8. Can highly recommend Gdansk. Posted a full review on the Gdansk/Sopot thread. In short though, great place, really cheap, friendly locals, plenty to do.
  9. Just to update this thread, went to Gdansk last week for the stagger. Was 14 of us (one dropped out the day before) and I think all of us were unanimous in saying that it was a cracking place. The old town is really nice and generally quite cheap, however we were staying slightly out of the city centre and scouted a really nice restaurant near the hotel that was basically doing two courses and two drinks for the combined price of about £8. Absolute bargain. We didn't get the chance to go to Sopot, but found plenty to do in Gdansk. Sopot definitely on the to do list if I go back. Overall it's a really friendly place, the Poles were great, even kept a bar open well past its opening hours for us - think we finally left about 5am. Another bar we stumbled into for the Northern Ireland/Ukraine game, realised it wasn't open yet, but the owner told us to take a seat and put the game on for us as he was happy to get the income. Taxis are generally cheap, drinks on average about £1.50. I was there for five days and spent only £200, and that was four nights out, meals, strips clubs, taxis, etc. Anyway, great choice for a stag or a couples holiday, you won't be disappointed.
  10. They also beat Spain in qualifying though, and won in Ukraine which is not to be sniffed at. Then again they lost at home to Belarus after beating them away. A team it seems that are equally capable of both very good results and horrible ones. Hopefully they saved their good one for England.
  11. I'm going to Gdansk next week for a stag do so will let you know how good it is. So far though it's been cheap to organise, about £80-90 return for flights (and we only booked them two months ago). Hotel is £80 each for 4 nights - we could have done that cheaper too had we booked earlier and we also had to find somewhere that could fit 15 of us that late on.
  12. Top post Notts bankie, and cheers everyone else for the replies. Heading off on Tuesday until Saturday. Like the sound of getting on one of the pirate ships for a tour round the coast. Also gonna visit the stadium in Gdansk, 40,000 capacity I think, built for Euro 2012.
  13. This "we had the toughest group" comment that comes up a lot, like we're somehow unlucky not to be there. Let's say we had Northern Ireland's group, or Rep of Ireland hadn't taken 4 points from Germany and we'd make it through the play-offs, would that make Gordon Strachan a success? Had we qualified, our Euro 2016 squad would no doubt be pretty dour. Greer, Hutton, Whittaker, Bryson, Martin, Mulgrew would all be in there instead of Shinnie, Paterson, McGinn, Rhodes. Maybe Griffiths would sneak into the squad. He might have taken McGinn or Tierney along for the experience but they'd likely get 10 mins in the final game. We'd do very little there, but a lot of fans wouldn't care because "at least we made it." Likewise, say we're no better in the WC qualifiers, but Slovakia are equally as average. We draw twice with the Slovaks, both beat Malta, both lose to England, but we manage one extra point out of Slovenia and Lithuania than they do, and then the play-off draw hands us Northern Ireland. We make it, we're at the World Cup, we're all euphoric, but again - is Strachan a success? Is that simply all it comes down to, that qualification is the be all and end all? We still won't have improved, we're unlikely to have planned for the future by bringing younger players through, but a lot of people wouldn't care as long as we're at the party.
  14. The thing that annoys me about Strachan is he talks a good game but doesn't put his own words into practice. He says we can't just throw in kids. He's right, you can't throw in the U21 team. He has to play the odd one or two and gradually blend them in. That's fine, but when the qualifiers starts will we really see McGinn, Tierney, McLean, Paterson or anyone else there, or the "safe" options? He says the players coming in have to be an improvement on what he has at the moment. Again, he's right. However, he's picking players that don't fall into either category. They're not young players with big futures, and they're not better than what we have. I'm talking about Craig Bryson coming off the bench v Italy. What was that for - is he going to be a big player for us in the next campaign? If so who is Bryson an improvement on? Same goes for Steven Whittaker, Gordon Greer and Charlie Mulgrew. He relies stubbornly on Steven Fletcher when we're crying out for new ideas, and I don't mean Ross McCormack or Chris Martin who, from what I've seen so far, offer exactly the same. He needs to be braver. Just show a bit of ambition, name a line-up with a mix of youth and experience. Trust Robertson, Tierney or Shinnie for a big game. So often even Robertson is dropped when we play bigger opposition and he goes with Whittaker or, as in Ireland away, Craig Forsyth. Give Griffiths or Rhodes a start. Start them both away to Malta. They could compliment each other and between the two of them make something happen. They're the best two strikers we have. But at the moment I struggle to think what Strachan is doing that every other manager since Vogts hasn't done either. Our whole approach is the same as Levein or Burley. Supporting Scotland is tiring. It's predictable. It's the same old story on repeat. We need someone to actually shake us up. I thought Strachan would be that man but so far he's not done it.
  15. Going to Gdansk in June for a stag do. While we're there Euro 2016 is on. Anyone who has been recommend some good sports bars or just places with big screens to watch some of the games? We've got stuff organised for various days, but we've kept 16 June free because England v Wales and Germany v Poland is on. Any club/pub/restaurant recommendations would also be welcome.
  16. Scotland v Sweden at Italia 90. I loved that World Cup, and that was a huge game after the Costa Rica defeat. The Swedish fans, being in Genoa, the sense of occasion, and actually winning the game (we didn't win many at the World Cup to be fair). We've had bigger wins than that before and since, but you can't beat winning a must-win World Cup game.
  17. Cyprus. Only because on the list of places I've been with Scotland it was by far and away the smallest. All the rest I've been a glory hunter picking big stadiums ?
  18. Another vote for San Siro. Outside with it all lit up it looked brilliant. Inside it looked cracking too. Facilities weren't great but sometimes it doesn't matter.
  19. Good chance you're on the same flights as me. Wednesday afternoon aye? I'm meeting a Paris based pal at Orly and he assures me the connection from each terminal takes just a few minutes via a regular shuttle bus. My main concern is I can't check in to the Orly-Prague flight until 24 hours before it. It it lets me download the boarding pass to my phone then great, if not I've got no printer so would need to get it at airport and I'm gonna be short on time with the quick turnaround.
  20. Tickets bought. Creeping up to 2200. re-ex pats buying tickets if they're not members. I bought for my dad who lives in Cyprus when we played there. I emailed SSC, they said to wait until after the sales period for members and if they weren't sold out to then phone them, and then they added a second ticket to my order. I don't know if they would sell directly to a non-member though. Technically I was responsible if my dad got out of hand!

Cheers to all above for the info. Is it the same story second last weekend of season too?

Ignore the above actually, think I've worked it out it's Bundesliga Saturday, Bundesliga 2 on Sunday? That won't work for us, looking again at the weekend before.

I notice a lot of fixtures get moved, but what about the last day of the season? Do they all kick off at the same time?* It's St Pauli at home that weekend actually, so even if the Bundesliga all kick off at the same time, Bundesliga 2 could still be different? We're trying to book so that we can get to a game but also be home for the last day of the top 6 in Scotland.

Yeh was getting my dates (well, fixtures) mixed up because was also looking at the weekend after when St Pauli are at home, and from memory Hannover were also at home that week.
