  1. Donnelly didn't get a sniff. I think the wingbacks were Dailly and Burley. I think McNamara started the Morocco match, though.
  2. France 98? Well, I didn't have any complaints with Darren Jackson, Durie and Gallagher. The only real eyeraiser was leaving out McCoist. Wouldn't have been my choice. People use the Dad's Army thing as a stick to beat Graig Brown with, but what Scottish players were the Old Firm bringing through? Gerry Greaney? David Hagen? Gary McSwegen? Awful. Craig Brown got a bunch of players together and the unity was that on a club side and he got us to two finals. Should've been three as we murdered England in '99. I think it's a culture thing. You think the Italians care if their squads are always averaged at 30+?
  3. I hope I am wrong, too. Even more so because I'd have Gilmour and Gauld in my first XI, never mind the squad. I have a feeling that Fraser and Forrest will make the cut, too. Those two, I wouldn't mind, but not at the expense of Gauld or Gilmour.
  4. Is that true? People say that, but I don't remember there being an abundance of talented young Scots under Brown's regime. Who was there? Burchill, Jess, Booth, Wilkie, Gillies, Bernard, Crawford, Easton, etc? Not exactly world beaters. Booth is the only one who had a mildly successful career... and Jess was heralded as the Scottish wonderkid. And didn't he brutally not select John McGinley even though his goal practically got us to Euro 96?
  5. McCrorie's had a strange career, thus far. Didn't do much on loan at Portsmouth. Shunted by Steven Gerrard at Rangers. Joined Aberdeen where no one talks about him being called up for Scotland. Now he's linked with Sunderland. Quite a nomadic career so far. Like a poundland Oliver McBurnie. As for Lewis Ferguson. From what I've seen of him, barring his overhead kick against Burnley, he's bang average. Not old enough to remember his dad, (some say he was better than Barry) but I do remember his uncle. Oozed class. I remember after the first '99 playoff match against England, Ince came out and lavished praise on him. And quite rightly.
  6. It's ironic, the time we do qualify, it's when we have the worst Scotland top in decades. Maybe the qualification is karma making up for the Frankenstein's Monster Strip (It looks like it was sewn up using material from three tops). Though, to be fair, the last good strip we had was probably 98. Then it fell off a cliff.
  7. Sunderland linked with Ross McCrorie.
  8. I think there will be wholesale disappoint. I have this feeling that none of the 0 capped players (Turnbull, Gauld, Gilmour, Patterson, etc) will be called up.
  9. Josh Doig linked to Arsenal, Leeds and Manchester City over the past few months. John Collins said that Doig should go the Tierney route (I.e stay with Hibs for a few years) but I don't know. The three clubs that has been linked to are massive, so he must have potential.
  10. Cool. I was fishing out my Scotland tops last week. Was wearing the "salmon" one a few days ago.
  11. That's actually what I did, too. I supported Rangers, purely because of the football. When I got old enough and started noticing the bigotry and the unionist thing. I said "enough" and stopped supporting them. Mine was about mid 90s. Fairbairn seems like a nice guy, though. I wouldn't tarnish him with the "typical Rangers fan" brush.
  12. I think so. It's kinda like old sweeper position.
  13. Yeah. I was thinking that, too. In his previous three matches Oostende have shipped 8 goals whilst he's been on the field. In fairness, though, he only completed 90 minutes in one of those matches. In two he came off, once injuried. I've seen him a few times for Oostende. He has improved. He's definitely better in the middle of a back three. Why that is? Probably because his positioning isn't the greatest.
  14. We're all talking about Che Adams (on topic). You're the one trying to ruin the thread. And technically, this is my thread. Don't like it? Let the door hit you on the way out.
  15. And you will genuinely find fault in anything I say so you're not being objective. a scorer of great goals = a compliment.
  16. I think he's a scorer of great goals rather than a great goal scorer. The easier the chance, the more difficult it is for him. (Apart from his previous two) McBurnie will score 20+ in the Championship next season and all of a sudden his detractors on here will forget everything they said about him.
  17. I know, but we what Christie has in his locker. (For some) Adams is an unknown quantity. Fraser has only got a week left of rehab. He had a groin operation. Forrest? Dunno. I've watched him for years, even more so since he decided that he was Scottish. I genuinely would rather choose Dykes, McBurnie and Griffiths as the strikers
  18. 100% correct. And all opinions should be respected and not "cancelled",
  19. That Ferguson miss made me lol. But yeah, you're right. I do have to say that Adams missed 4 one on ones with the keeper in 3 of the last 4 matches. Time will tell.
  20. I think it was Manchester City, I could be wrong though. I honestly don't think he's a better finisher than McBurnie. Some people seem to forget that he scored 28 in two seasons prior to this season. One more time. 😛
  21. Yeah. I meant Adams. Oops. A second striker like Christie, Forrest, Fraser, McGinn, etc, offers a lot more than Adams.
  22. Sure it wasn't against Manchester City? That was a cracker. He's almost 25 and only scored double figures once. That doesn't scream "natural finisher". He offers pace, but so did Kenny Miller and Mark Burchill... two players I would take over Adams.
  23. Jack Hendry played for Oostende in a 0:4 defeat. Their playoffs have been a disaster. Lost 3 out of 4 so far.
