  1. Czech Republic are playing Albania tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how the respond from being beaten up by Italy. (You can't watch it, though, As Texan Pete will call your whole life into question. Hopefully he'll allow us to watch at least one match at the Euros. He's a joyless sod, so probably not.)
  2. Enough talk. How about you only talk to me when you have something interesting to say? (Same with Caledonian Craig.) Guess we'll never talk again. Gutted
  3. Do you exist on here solely to reflect me? Yes. I think we'll beat England and Draw against Croatia. Do you want me to give you my entire prediction list? I don't have one, but if you ask nicely...
  4. Do you even know what the title of this thread is? I was "keeping at eye on our Euro 2020 rivals". Apparently, you'd rather talk about our Euro 2020 rivals than watch them then. And the "get out more" thing. Do you go one day without telling people what to do? Do you know how insulting and belittling that would sound to someone who suffers from several social anxiety or someone with mental disorders which stop them from "getting out more". Not that I'm afflicted with the aforementioned. You should think before you type.
  5. 1. I was thinking just that very thing. Set pieces are as important In today's football as anything. We saw England at the previous World Cup. They were without doubt the masters at set pieces. 9 of their 12 goals were from set pieces. 2. McTominay is the player that I've watched the most over the past few years. There's no doubt, when he's on his game, he's a player! But he can sometimes get sloppy and lethargic in possession. Next season is a big season for him,
  6. Couldn't agree more. I used to criticize Callum McGregor for always passing backwards and sideways and always keeping it safe, but I suppose, every team needs that, so i started laying off him. Remember him at Notts County? He played just off the striker, I think that is his best position, sadly, you can say that about the majority of our midfielders. He hasn't got a good passing range, certainly not good enough to be playing in a deep midfield position. There's no doubt, though, if it's a straight choice, Gilmour should win. Is he ready? Definitely.
  7. Many here have said Marshall is crap and yet he had a huge hand getting us to the Euros. Yeah. Ok. Fine. You didn't watch the whole match, clearly. Prediction. This will be Southgate's last tournament and he'll join his old club Crystal Palace.
  8. Perisic, Rebic, Modric and Kovovic are all top players. I have a feeling they'll beat England in the first group match.
  9. Did you watch the England vs Romania match? Sam Johnstone made a world class save to keep the lead and Romania had a couple chances that top strikers would not miss. I'm not trying to "appeal" to anyone. What a strange thing to say. You seem to under the impression that I want replies. Why? Because some people here are so contrary that they'd dispute the colour of orange juice Each keeper had 5 saves, Caledonian Craig Levein.
  10. Totally. The amount we have now, as opposed to about a year or so ago, is basically night and day. We're actually at a stage where we're discussing who to leave out, that to me is impressive progression in such a relatively short space of time. Steve Clarke deserves a lot of credit. Our problems were in defence (we moved to a three) and up front (we play with a false 9) and he's sorted them and now we genuinely look like a cohesive and structured unit. I'm buzzing for the start of the Euros! Just a week for our first match. Then it's off to our three points at Wembley.
  11. In retrospect, at least he didn't give away any fouls, unlike Hendry. I think we can always expect a certain number of mistakes from our centerbacks. That's pretty much the reason why we play with a three, so that the other two can cover for the one who makes an error. It's a coin toss between Hendry and Hanley at this point.
  12. First XI (Version 184676546784677532...1) Marshall Hendry Cooper Tierney O'Donnell Robertson McTominay Gilmour McGinn Dykes Christie Hanley had a chance to stake a claim against Luxembourg... what did he do? Almost score an og. I'm not sold on Patterson. He's behind Fraser, Forrest and O'Donnell for me. He still looks raw but it's good experience for him.
  13. Has been a difference between us qualifying for Euro 2020 and us not. Che Adams took his chance well, so kudos to him, and I hope he keeps it up, but Dykes has to start, especially against England. What is it with English commentators? A guy who did the Dutch match for ESPN said that Adams would start for us at Euro 2020, and now the ITV commentator has said the same. The main difference between Dykes and Adams is their height, heading ability and physicality. Because of this, Dykes has to start, particularly against England.
  14. I think so, too. McGregor is ok and he was acceptable when we had no better alternatives, but things have changed. Me, too. It's a shame that Jack got injured as he's pretty much the only anchorman we have. Next in line is Shinnie, and he's not even a part of the narrative. Yeah. For his tender years, Gilmour does seem to have more confidence and defensive awareness than McGregor. I think it comes natural to him. lol He did.
  15. And not only that, but keeping Henderson and Maguire in the 26. Not to mention Rashford and now Saka is nursing an injury. It just goes to underline their genuine lack of depth. Roy Keane is spot on. Are Jordan Henderson and Maguire being kept around as cheerleaders? They were lucky to beat Austria and they could've easily lost tonight against Romania.
  16. The team that I watch most is Manchester United. If Fred is worth £50m then Gilmour must be worth £100m. Growing up, my favourite Scotland midfielders were McAllister, Collins, McCall and Lambert. Billy Gilmour seem to be a hybrid of all four (all that's missing is Collins's free kicks) As you say, he does what McGregor does, but quicker, better and so much so, so he has to start the Euros. I don't care what age Gilmour is, he's the best midfielder we have. A double-pivot with Gilmour and McTominay would be interesting. With McGinn buzzing between the space between them and the strikers. Today's performance wasn't the best, but what struck me is even when we play badly, we still have a solid structure. It's a sign of good coaching and it's a sign that the squad is now totally at ease and they understand the currently system.
  17. Gilmour is an extraordinary talent. He was only on the field for 30 minutes but he was my man of the match. He has to start the Euros. His range of passing is world class and the speed in which he does things... amazing. Callum McGregor is good, but he can't pass a ball longer than 5-10 yards. He is what he is.
  18. Well done Che. This is one of the things that annoys me about McTominay. I love him but he's quite inconsistent.
  19. It's not stupid if it helped you and took your mind off of things.
  20. I'm not bothered. Loved seeing the Adidas Ireland top with the three large stripes down the shoulder. That's what I want to see with our new one. Re: Callum McGregor I've warmed to him over the years.
  21. It wasn't a bad idea. Just bad timing. Don't worry about it.
  22. Hope it doesn't backfire with Tierney and Robertson. I hope Clarke does what the Dutch did by taking off two key players after 30 mins. There's no need to play McGregor, either. Now SofaScore have Gallagher up front and McTominay in a back four. What the hell is going on?
