  2. Perhaps I should have been more clear. I meant very sad for the TA, not for Gauld. Watching that interview where he is speaking Portuguese, and reading about how much he has taken to his life over there, I am full of nothing but respect and happiness for the lad, and delighted he's enjoying his life in a way I never had the guts to do at his age! That said, I'm sad because I think he was such an exciting young talent and now it seems his potential is never going to be fulfilled on the football pitch. He cant hold down a regular team spot in any of the places he goes out to on loan (never mind his parent club) in a league that really is not much better quality than the Scottish Premiership. He is 22, and such a talent at that age should be playing 90 minutes every week, unless he's now not the talent we once thought he was, or every Portuguese team who has managed him has missed something? It's not me that needs to give him a chance, it's them. I really hope you're right and I am wrong, but at the moment it looks like he has an unbelievably long way to go to pull on a Scotland shirt.
  3. Yeah, I'm a bit of an optimist, but I'm getting to the point that I think it's time to give up on following his career. Very sad.
  4. Nothing online yet. Harper starts again for Malaga. Bates was out of the Hamburg squad and they got totally pumped.
  5. George Byers gets a start for Swansea today. That's interesting. Might be one to watch?
  6. International football should be moved back to West of Scotland Cricket Club where it damn well belongs!
  7. Thought you all would like this: I entered a Fantasy EPL team through work down here and chose an all Scottish midfield, plus Robbo in defense, just to wind up the English lads. The even bigger wind up is that I'm top of the league after 5 gameweeks hahaha! Also, my team is actually in the top 5% of Fantasy Premier League teams worldwide right now. Cheers Fraser and Robbo! Absolutely loving it. Things ain't as bad as we think. PS: Fingers crossed for a start for Armstrong this evening.
  8. Indeed. I mean he actually scored in the Bundesliga! Hopefully at least on of these guys can properly break through, and Oli can also fulfil the potential he has after this sad false start.
  9. Of the five young lads playing in the 2nd tier of continental European leagues this season, who would you bet a pint on being the first to get a call up to the senior squad; Harper, Henderson, Bates, Gauld, or St Clair? My pint would be on Harper, as we're lacking in attacking talent and he's been getting more game time than the rest this season. I'd love to look at the same 5 guys a year from now and see what they are up to.
  10. What about that keeper handling the ball outside the box ay? Cheeky bastard. Got away with the whole lot of it!
  11. Read an interesting article in the Metro this morning. Gareth Southgate is frustrated that young English players aren't getting games, so he has proposed an England U23 team be added to the Premier League and any eligible player that doesn't get more than X minutes from their club is automatically sent on loan to this team. Bizarre and extremely unlikely solution, but it shows that it's not just us that are getting frustrated about our young talent being stuck in reserve squads and warming benches.
  12. I care. I remember I was in the Loft on Ashton Lane with a bunch of mates watching it on the big screen. At half time the bar staff were giving out tickets for free pints if Scotland won and a bunch of people were leaving and giving their tickets away before Faddy smashed home that screamer. Free drinks for the rest of the night and we had just beaten the previous year's World Cup finalists home and away in competitive matches. Something that hadn't been done to France in a very long time. What followed was even better. A genuine feeling of belief. For many of us young TA lads and lassies that IS our Gemmill '78. We're never gonna win the World Cup. You've got to enjoy the relative highlights, and hold onto the good memories, otherwise what are you even doing?
  13. Here's a nice positive thread, and almost certainly a jinx, sorry... The unbeaten run in competitive games is now at 7, going back to the loss at Wembley on 11th November 2016 The unbeaten run in competitive games at Hampden now stretches all the way back to 9th September 2015 (Scotland 2-3 Germany). That's over 3 years! Also, in that game we became the first team to score twice against Germany in donkey's. With only Israel and Albania in our way this year, I reckon we can easily extend this good competitive record out to March 2019. Just something to smile about on a Wednesday.
  14. Totally agree with you. Thought he had a great game and was slightly unlucky not to come away with a goal.
  15. Can I just address something that's really bugging me? These "suicidal passes" and "gilt edged chances" that McGinn was responsible for were really not as big as they're being made out to be. The one in the first half was a really stupid pass, but it left the Albanians 2 on 5 with McGinn also closing fast to make up for his error. Even Mane and Salah would have had work to do to create a goal. The 2nd half one was an underhit volley that came to pretty much nothing. Can we please calm the fuck down and try and focus on the positives and look at the 10+ outstanding moments he had winning the ball and moving us forward? Anyone can make a shit pass, but few people can do the rest of what he did in the game.
  16. Not sure the reason for this but we should definitely show the Albanian fans some respect. An away support that strong from a nation of under 3 million on a soaking Monday night in Glasgow, now that's something the TA can get behind!
  17. I think you're doing the lad bit of a disservice. I haven't seen anyone battle that hard in a Scotland shirt in a while. He was all over them.
  18. I think it was just under one thousand times? Was great to see! I understand what people are saying about McGregor wasting some chances, but I also think he showed fantastic energy and spirit. The smiles on his face when he came off showed it all. He loved being out there winning with Scotland. The more of that, the better.
  19. I was watching in an English pub with the sound off so I missed some of the reasoning for some decisions, bur I'm pretty sure I watched their keeper walk out of the box with the ball in his hands in open play. What happened there?
  20. You're shocked that many turned up to see a game against Albania in the pouring rain on a Monday night? Me too! Hats off to those supporters!
  21. I agree with this. He may have made a couple of errors, but he exposed way more errors in the opposite, won the ball back, broke down play, and put us on the front foot with his energy. Excellent display.
  22. Players I thought had a really good game tonight: McGinn O'Donnell Robbo Tierney Russell Naismith McGregor And for me everyone else on the pitch played well. Congratulations lads.
  23. I think Robbo keeps seeing Salah and Mane on the cutback. Just a bit excited at the moment I think.
