  1. Only seen hickey play once (Scottish cup final) and thought he did very well for a 16 / 17 year old but he was just a 16/17 year old. What has changed since then that people think he is ready for a Scotland call up? Totally agree on the other 3 you mention plus Mccrorie.
  2. Larsson etc were significantly better than Christie, Macgregor and Forrest but that's not really the point. The point is you can still be a good player but play in Scotland and in some cases be capable of succeeding in epl. Players from the Scottish Premiership may succeed in epl or may not depending on the club they choose /how they adapt to the league / how good they are like players from any other country. It's not linear. There is clear evidence that Scottish Premiership players CAN succeed in Epl, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wanyama, McGinn, McLean, Naismith, S Fletcher etc.
  3. Can understand why people might switch off from Scottish football as to the purist it's not a high standard. Personally i enjoy it most of the time. To completely write off any player who plays in the league is ridiculous though. To me Christie is a class act and I think would be a regular starter in middle to lower half of the league. I then think he could improve further. What makes you think he would struggle in England other than "he plays in Scotland therefore he's shit"? McGregor is neat and tidy but not overly fussed for him and for me Forrest has been a stand out at club level and while inconsistent with Scotland, would be a decent player in England. He's better than Christian Atsu or someone like that.
  4. Celtic are quite good at signing Scottish players Armstrong, Christie etc but not sold on their developing of their own players. Forrest is 28, macgregor is 26 so Tierney is the last regular to have come from their youth system. I think celtic could do better in producing their own but accept they have done quite well for the national team in the last few years.
  5. They did indeed and had players like Kal Naismith, Craig Halkett, Barrie Mckay and Lewis Macleod to name a few. Hopefully they and celtic start to see the performance and financial benefit that producing your own players provides.
  6. It has been to Scotlands detriment the lack of youth / Scottish players coming through at Rangers. Hopefully that will change as clearly something is being done correctly at rangers now. In terms of the boys that played, Mcpake and Mebude look like they are ready for first team football now. Kennedy maybe needs a bit of growth and would need to see more of maxwell but he looked decent.
  7. I'd like to see a number of your list called up, not because they are necessarily ready right now but because they have potential to be very good players in the future. Gilmour, Johnston, Hornby and Porteous ld like involved against Kazakhstan and Cyprus. Don't see it happening as Clarke is only likely to be interested in the here and now which I can understand.
  8. Fine with that tbh, don't need him now.
  9. A good player over the years but the right time to step aside. I wonder if Clarke had a say in it as his performance in Russia was very poor? Leaves room for the younger and arguably better players like Fraser, Forrest and Christie with Johnston etc still to break through
  10. Can't stand Crocker. Condescending beyond belief
  11. You would think so. On my view there is no logical basis for binning these schools. The performance schools are great for combining much more training during the week with a focus on education. This is something our footballers have severely lacked in recent years! 19s were tremendous last night, especially second half. They deserved to win - it wasn't a lucky 1nil. Rangers have some really exciting players on their hands, hopefully they use them!
