  1. Armstrong pulled us out of a hole against Armenia. He has been a consistent performer for southampton in the epl. How many midfielders do we have playing well in a top european league. If armstrong isnt worthy of our squad then who is? Fraser is a cracking player who took his punishment well and if he turns up from now on and performs well then i dont see the problem. Dykes deserves his place in the squad based on his performances for scotland. Hes pulled out important goals when we needed them. He may not be a guaranteed starter due to his club form but hes certainly worthy of his place. Do you honestly see clarke leaving him out? As for anderson i dont get the fuss. Hes made a few sub appearances for newcastle and thats about it. Hes got loads of potential but hes done next to nothing to deserve a place in the squad especially at armstrongs expense whos been a consistent performer in the epl and for a champions league team. If you include christie and turnbull then the squad i have picked is pretty accurate to what clarke will pick imo.
  2. Lol yeh forgot about him as well. Stick him in for ferguson.
  3. Lol Yeh i forgot about christie, he defo gets picked. Also Liam kelly is a fair shout for the third keeper.
  4. Gk - gordon, mclaughlin, ????? Defenders- patterson, hickey, tierney, taylor, mckenna, cooper, hendry, hanley, Midfielders- gilmour, mcgregor, armstrong, mcginn, mctominay, jack, Forwards- morgan, burke, dykes, adams, fraser, brown Thats my 23 man squad for these games. If its 25 then add in campbell and ferguson. If we play 3 at the back then mctominay will probably have to cover there in one of the games considering we have three games in a short space of time.
  5. Thats harsh on hanley. Hes been relatively good barring the last round of games. Hes down the pecking order in terms of being a first team pick but i dont see who the better options are in terms of the squad, especially if there are injuries etc. We dont have loads of centre backs playing in top leagues. We have to rely on guys like hanley. If you can name better alternatives then fair enough. Morgan deserves a call up and some gametime. If hes willing to travel the distance then he deserves the chance to show hes worthy of a place in the team.
  6. I think hendry will be at his best late in his career like davie weir.
  7. I would give brown some decent sub appearances. Not sure he deserves a start but i wouldnt be against it.
  8. Thats a decent team and formation although i would probably go with fraser or morgan instead of brown.
  9. Lol i never said clarke would pick this team, its my choice.
  10. Tbf he was late in getting first team football and comes across as a young lad. I think he will be at his best later in his career when hes in his early 30s. Saying that i am not sure hes going to go alot higher than club brugge or cremonese in his career.
  11. Oh well we can play tierney at left back. I would play a 433 for these upcomjng games. Gordon Patterson hanley mckenna tierney Armstrong mcgregor Mcginn Fraser adams burke That would be my main team for these games. I would give morgan a start in one of the games in place of burke.
  12. Would gilmour still qualify as an u21? If you factor in gilmour, patterson and hickey then we really do have a talented group players who are 21 and under. Just need to maximise this group of talent and the talent we already have in the senior squad and produce a team that qualifies for both the euros and the world cup and maybe even does well in these tournaments.
  13. Conway, lowry, anderson, doak, ramsay, fiorini, king would be my choices of guys who i think will play for us at some point. Conway scores another 3 or 4 goals for his club and hes practically there. Anderson also is pretty close to the main squad especially if he gets a few starts for newcastle or even continues off the bench for them. Not sure why you have hepburn, morrison and wilson as choices. These guys have never played any proper football apart from youth football. Just because they are at bayern or an epl club doesnt mean much compared to guys playing first team football like fiorini or conway, they could be the next ruben sammut or harvey st clair. The guys i listed barring doak have shown that they can potentially play a good level of football already. Until we see hepburn, morrison and wilson play at an actual meaningful level of football then i dont see how there can be much excitement about them. Saying that i respect your choices and everyones got their own opinions on who they think will become stars.
  14. If you include the guys missing then theres easily 7 or 8 who could easily get senior caps in the future. What i hope for is 3 or 4 to become proper regulars like mcginn or robertson and end up playing in a top european league. That should be our minimum expectation for this group of u21s and hopefully we can exceed that.
  15. It sounds like only 1 or 2 guys shouting ftq and thats kicked off the mess that followed. I am anti monarchy and pro republican but i dont see much gain in shouting your mouth off at a minutes silence. Not really worth the hassle just to make a big scene at a football match. Saying that i really hope theres no minutes silence at the scotland games coming up. Probably best that they avoid that whole minefield as some of the tartan army might disrespect it or boo it. Rather just keep politics out of football tbh.
  16. Looks like the hearts republicans have made their voices heard lol. Finally a hearts i can get on board with. In all seriousness hearts seem to struggle with minutes silences. They couldnt stay quiet for the pope and now the queen and last night showed they seem to have a very mixed support in terms of politics and ideology. Always thought they were very much majority unionists and maybe they are but it certainly seems like theres a few republicans in there support as well. Lets see how celtic get on with a minutes silence provided they brave enough to have one lol.
  17. Another 5 or 6 goals in the next couple of months and he will have to be in future squads. Its rare that we get a 20 year old striker scoring goals at that kind of level. Hes only just turned 20 as well. He could very well be the goalscorer we have desperately needed for years. Obviously stewart looks promising as well but hes already 26 so theres potentially a very limited time that we will benefit from him provided he continues his upward trajectory into the epl.
  18. I think conway would have to be picked for the first team. How often do we have a 20 year old scoring goals in the english championship.
  19. Nice one. I am guessing his first choice will be england but he wont have to make that choice for maybe another 6 months or year. If hes only 20 and scoring goals in the championship then he will be called up by clarke pretty soon. Could be a tough decision for the lad as he could still turn out to be good enough for england in a few years time. Just a case of wether he wants to hold out for them or come with us. Obviously the bravehearts will come wading in with the rhetoric of 'we dont want english rejects' despite us having heaps over the years che adams being a prime example.
  20. Looks like tommy conway is eligible for us. If he keeps his scoring rate up he will be looking to make the senior squad. Only just turned 20 and has 6 goals in 10 games at english championship level. Just surprised the england u21s havent selected him yet.
  21. Spot on. Fair play to taylor for becoming a first team regular at celtic but hes a long way behind tierney and robertson. Even hickeys infront of him imo.
  22. He would have to score alot of goals before i would want him back in the squad. Until he does that its a big fat no from me.
  23. Would be great if he was. We are always in need of decent strikers and hes scored 6 in 10 so far this season and has only just turned 20. I would guess england u21s will soon be calling him up.
  24. Did someone on here say that tommy conway is eligible for us? Hes only 20 years old and has scored a few already in the english championship.
