  1. Hi David. My pal and I are coming to Cologne for the game. Just wanted to thank you for all the posts and information - realise you don't need to be doing this but it is hugely helpful. Maybe let this group know where you'll be and your favourite pub as I'm sure quite a few on here will be buying you a beer.
  2. I have to travel a lot and use star Alliance when I can (Lufthansa air Austria Brussels air Turkish swiss air etc) the do rediculous sounding connections like 45 mins but 9 times out of 10 they make them. Some really cool experiences where they have a car waiting on the tarmac if the plane is late arriving in order to take you to the connection plane by passing the terminal. Makes you feel like James bond. Doesn't help if you've no time to spare for the match but when I missed a connection in Vienna for the Scotland Albania game they put me up in a nice hotel and gave me €250 compensation and taxi there and back. Had a great time !!!!
  3. And as for super John McG. He is the most underrated player in the EPL. He would be perfect for Liverpool but his price tag would be what ? £80m. But forget that. He is such a super nice guy. He comes over and talks to TA supporters on a one of us basis. I'm 58. We've not had a crowd of players that empathise with us since my 20s.
  4. It is impossible to praise SC enough to have identified Scott's true position. Which after all he started his youth career at. Remember when a lot of us were berrarting his performance as a centre half which he simply isn't ! Ten Hag owes SC a few pints.
  5. As I understood it (I could be wrong) UEFA were opening up the ticket portal for a day for each association to stagger the web traffic. Did another association go before us and was it OK for them ? Also if this is right does it mean there is only a limited window of today for them to get this sorted, Surely this would have been tested to the nth degree? IT's not just one error i.e. the release of codes to those with <12 points but getting the dates and days wrong for two out of three matches is just embarrassing - surely someone reviewed this before it was launched ?
  6. Laughed out very loud at that !!!!
  7. Just a word of caution if you are spending more than an hour in Zurich. I had to visit Switzerland for work in June. Geneva etc was fecking expensive then had a meeting in Zurich.....prices were stratospheric. I mean super daft like never experianced anywhere including Scandinavia.
  8. Munich park Hilton for us. Not cheap but at least it's got twin beds as many seem to only have doubles and I'm done with the pillows down the middle shenanigans and still waking up with my pal thinking I'm his missus ! Shuddering at the thought !
  9. I'm still fuming about that VAR and free kick. He deserved the goal and it would have been one of the all time greats. Really left a sour taste.
  10. That's when we are gonna do nurenberg. Try to forget the association with the trials - it has supossed to be a pretty town. We managed to get a really nice hotel for a good rate. Do let us know on here if anyone decides to do the same as would be up to arranging a wee sesh.
  11. My understanding is you pay and pay for the pass then reserve trains effectively for no extra cost. I think others on here have said you can book trains six months in advance
  12. Just started a new topic on our itinerary but you'll find this good for rail passes. Cool thing is you can pick a pass that allows three or four days travel that dont need to be consecutive. Interrail German Rail Pass | Interrail.eu
  13. Me and my pal (big Mike for those that know us) just nailed our itinerary and thought i'd share it in case anyone else is thinking about doing a couple of other towns where we aren't playing and in case any lone soldiers want to meet up:- (all June) Munich Wed 12th to Sat 15th (3 nights) Leipzig Sat 15th to Mon 17th (2 nights) Cologne Mon 17th to Thu 20th (3 nights) Nuremberg Thu 20th to Friday 21st (1 night) Stuttgart Fri 21st to Monday 24th (3 nights) Rail pass for four days in any month = €206 or €275 1st. I'm based down south and booked Lufthansa 13.50 on Wed 12th Heathrow to Munich and back Swiss from Stuttgart via Zurich on Monday 24th leave 19,20 arr 21.45. it was about £350 but that was biz class as you get the seats, luggage, fast track, lunge, food and drink thrown in so it was only marginally more than standard. Cannae wait !
  14. You will always get a bampot or two and we are very good at self policing but at this game there were two or three real eejits. One behind me was utterly off his heid and kept on falling in to me and others in the row in front. I'm sure I am like many and enjoy quite a few pints when we go away - 99% of the time it results in the TA being brilliant banter in a friendly sometimes a little tipsy way. I'm not so sure it was just alcohol with the eejits in the ground. It is a separate point completely but I do agree with some of the earlier comments - who would take a babe in arms to any game ?
  15. It appears from french TV that Lille airport and some others have been closed. Hope it doesn't affect you.
  16. Well you did better than me mate. I found a good wee local tabac and that pub yesterday but apart from that I found it a pretty forgettable place. The missus liked the shops though.
  17. Arrived Sunday. Struggled to find a good local non touristy bar. Just found a cracking wee place on rue de la monnaie called Le Porthos. Small but friendly and good feel. About 2 minutes from the main square.
  18. Anybody travelling oot on the Sunday by Eurostar ? We're on the 1.30 or thereabouts just in case anyone about for a pre train beer or glass at St Pancras.
  19. First time in 27 years I'm taking my Mrs to an away game. Now I realise why It's the first time cos it works oot bl00dy expensive - what's this "spa" caper !? Ended up splashing oot on some place called the Hermitage. Booked it a few months back so the prices were just silly as opposed to fn stupid ! Anyone as daft as me staying there ?
  20. Mean to thank you for this ! Cheers !
  21. Loganroy. Loved the post "in the name of the wee man". Last time I heard that it was my Grampa and he's need died 40 years ! 😄
  22. It was showing as sold out at 12.55 for the 13 pointers. I tried at 1.03pm as a 12 pointer and the payment and all went through. Had confirmation email. Won't be convinced until I see the ticket but fingers crossed.
  23. Sorry but I fundamentally disagree. And for the record I have "paid up and taken the chance" as I've spent £500 + on Eurostar and hotels for me and the wife. I am sure others will have done similar Quotas for competitive games are governed by FIFA and UEFA. It was 100% in the SFAs gift to agree the allocation as part of the conditions of the friendly in the first place. The fact that wasn't done was at best inept but verging on negligent. We go in to a crucial two qualifying games with a friendly against one of the best teams in the world giving them 97% home based allocation. I am sorry but this isn't just unfair to the fans but what about the players ?????? What exactly do we, the national side, the players and the fans gain by this self imposed situation ?
  24. Oh and PS anyone else find pop adds on TAMB prohibit you actually reading the posts on the site ? Don't have this with any other site. TAMB administrators - not a gripe at you who do a great job but as the allocation has left me a tad grumpy thought id get it off my chest !!!!🙂
  25. I really hate slagging off the SFA but this is absolutely stupid. A friendly with less than the mandatory 5% allocation for competitive games. The allocation should have been decided and commited before the friendly was agreed. I am seriously struggling with the logic of playing friendlies with England and France to sandwich a competitive game with Spain. We had the biggest momentum in a generation or more and now risk being heads down going in to the vital last two matches of the campaign. I'm on 12 points. Eurostar booked so gutted by this own goal. Shambles.
