  1. I bought one and I don't regret it. I've been to all the home games and would have anyway if I didn't buy a season ticket so it was worth it for me. It's not exactly a significant saving but it saves fannying about trying to buy tickets every couple of months.
  2. Apparently it's more important to let season ticket holders buy tickets for their mates who are not members than it is to help out members who missed the sale. I'm not sure why people are surprised at this. The SFA don't give a monkey's toss about SSC members once they've got our money.
  3. Aye there was. http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish_fa_news.cfm?page=2986&newsID=13493&newsCategoryID=1
  4. I haven't watched it yet as I thought it was quite a boring game (not while I was there because if the nerves etc.) but I remember thinking we weren't as bad as everyone was saying after it. I'll probably give it a go in a couple of months to put me in the mood for the Georgia game. A win in Georgia is vital for automatic qualification hopes but I wouldn't say we were just about there if we beat them. We need to back it up with a win against Poland I think to be certain.
  5. And here was me thinking that was a cynical marketing ploy to encourage members to buy a season ticket.
  6. Poor Arthur Montford never recovered from that World Cup.
  7. Or Paris. Or Glasgow. Dublin is quite bad for it as well.
  8. It was a quick and easy way of providing the address. In no way was I saying it's easy to find Scottish boozers by using Google rather than relying on the band of reprobates that frequent this board.

  10. I think a public sale was always on the cards. It's just the size of it that was in question in my mind. It will all come down to how many additional tickets the season ticket holders buy. I have had about 5 or 6 people from my work ask me if I can get them a ticket - all Polish. There seems to be more of a buzz about the Germany game among my non-member mates. Not sure if it's the fact that game is first or if it's because it's the world champions.
  11. Aye we finished second to Austria. We qualified automatically as best runners up. I remember the Austria game at Celtic Park well. Gallacher scored a couple of crackers that night. I also remember the Sweden game at Ibrox. John McGinlay scored early on and the Swedes laid siege to Jim Leighton's goal but couldn't beat him.
  12. Don Hutchison's goal at Wembley. It was about 10 minutes before half time I think. That was the best half time I can ever remember. It's just a pity we didn't score another goal or two.
  13. Where do I start? There are too many to choose from. Monaco, the Faroes fiasco and Macedonia 2008 all spring to mind. My biggest disappointment was probably Holland 2003 though. Only because we had won at Hampden and we were totally outclassed a few days later. I thought we had a real chance.
  14. I don't think it would have any benefits at all, Craig. Not for Scotland anyway as I don't think the SFA will ever let Scottish players be involved (although they have admitted they can't legally stop anyone). I think you might have misunderstood what I've been saying - I don't want a GB team at the Olympics. I just don't care if there is one or not as I don't think it will put the Scotland team at risk. Like you said earlier though, why take the risk? That's a very good point. I just don't understand the hysteria that happens every time some windbag at the BOA or FA proposes a British team at the Olympics.
  15. I think (hope) the UEFA website makes it sound more complicated than it actually will be. If it works it will really good I think and an extra chance to qualify for the European championships can't be a bad thing.
  16. My post wasn't meant to be obnoxious mate. I was pointing out that the people who are scaremongering and pointing out ridiculous sums of cash possibly don't know what they are talking about. FIFA have never once said that they want one team from GB. There have been rumours for years from David Will and the like that FIFA would like to do away with the home nations but I don't remember anything official (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I'm not suggesting that certain FIFA members or even high ranking FIFA officials don't want to do away with the home nations but if it was going to happen I think it would have already. If FIFA really are desperate to end the home nations independence, surely they could put it to a vote whether or not there is a GB team at the Olympics or not?
  17. I know all about the situation mate but thanks for the obnoxious post.
  18. I don't have a problem with the position of the SFA or the other associations. I just think the whole thing is a storm in a teacup and the minute another report comes out about the feasibility of having a GB squad at the Olympics, some people are up in arms and pishing their drawers. I personally don't care if there is a British team at the Olympics or not. If there is, I don't think it will spell the end of the four home nations competing in FIFA tournament (or the qualifiers anyway!) I think the only danger would be if the four associations agree to merge in some way to allow the team to qualify but as we all know, the SFA will never let that happen.
  19. There's absolutely no reason that GB couldn't play in th Olympics with the home nations keeping their independence for UEFA and FIFA competitions other than issues with Olympic qualification. If the SFA agreed to let the BOA field a team in Rio (regardless of how they would actually qualify), FIFA would not insist that the home nations are replaced with a GB team in the next World Cup. In fact, I'd be surprised if they even noticed in between counting their bribes. The men's Olympic tournament is a Mickey Mouse event that nobody cares about anyway. Also, Team GB took part in the last Olympics. I don't remember FIFA threatening to do away with the home nations after 2012.
  20. I'm not suggesting they have integrity but I really don't think they give a rat's ass if the UK countries stay separate or not. If some of the people on here are to be believed, Blatter and his band of crooks are sitting around rubbing their hands just waiting for the four FAs to agree to a GB Olympic team and as soon as that happens we're doomed.
  21. Mentioned by who? Walter Mitty? How would that money be made exactly? FIFA have denied on several occasions that they are looking to merge the UK teams. None of the countries want to merge so I doubt FIFA would make us even if they could make that amount of money. If FIFA were desperate to have one UK team and felt they had a mandate to merge the four countries, they would have done it years ago.
  22. Who gives a toss? FIFA are not going to ban the joint oldest national team from playing in their competitions. FIFA have NEVER threatened to do this. Also, UEFA are continually letting smaller, non-sovereign nations/dependencies (Gibraltar being the latest) join them and play in their competitions. FIFA probably don't have much time left as the governing body anyway. The SFA have had a bee in their bunnet about this for years. It just shows how much of an inferiority complex they really have.
  23. Thankfully you spelled gimp correctly or you'd be in trouble.
  24. I know, one of my mates did that very thing. I know a couple of guys that did it on purpose though.
  25. Completely understandable if you live in England or further afield. I just can't understand why any fee paying member who lives in Scotland (particularly Central Scotland) would choose to miss one or both our two biggest games since 2007. Especially the guys who are going to Portugal early to save a few bob.
