  1. I’m not sure how much of an advantage it will be since most of the other squads will be spending the same amount of time together but it certainly won’t do us any harm.
  2. Here comes the “a draw against England will never suit us” brigade.
  3. Yeah I know how good Hansen was for Liverpool but I’m not sure how often he replicated that for Scotland. The same could be said for a lot of people over the years. I do know that Hansen didn’t get as many caps as a player if his class should have but yeah the McLeish and Miller partnership would explain that.
  4. If you are referring to the world rankings the Netherlands aren’t a top 10 side but it was still a good performance and decent result. If Clarke had been desperate to beat them he would have kept Robertson and Tierney on the park but it was far more important to get other players some minutes and keep those two fit and fresh. We shouldn’t concede penalties like that at that at the tournament as VAR should hopefully intervene but that won’t stop dodgy free kicks. If I was Clarke I would be telling my defenders not to touch players in that position at all as they will drop like flies to get a dangerous free kick as soon as they feel hands on them. Having said that the ref was clueless last night and was obviously a big Depay fan.
  5. How can the SSC process a refund if the ticket was bought directly from UEFA?
  6. Most of the panicky defending came after Tierney, Robertson and Cooper went off although Tierney did make an arse of one cross (one blip in an otherwise very good performance). A good performance against Luxembourg and a couple of goals would do. Not expecting to batter them as they are a lot better than they used to be but we should have enough to beat them. Not that a win is essential but it couldn’t hurt. I wouldn’t read too much into their game tonight as Norway (Haaland aside) are not a great team.
  7. Fraser could probably have done a wee bit better to close the ball down but the fact is if Depay doesn’t go down like a sack of spuds to fool the referee we would have cleared the ball. The ref had a shocker.
  8. He certainly caused us to lose a few though. We’ll certainly one anyway, maybe I’m being unfair to him. I’m far too young to remember him playing for us. ☺️
  9. I’m not sure what else could have been done to prevent that free kick. It was never a foul.
  10. Aye they’ll be no pushovers but not having a finals to prepare for doesn’t necessarily benefit them. They’ll be on holiday mode and as we all know from the last 23 years playing a pre-tournament friendly when you’re not going to the tournament is soul destroying.
  11. Don’t think Hansen ever scored for Scotland.
  12. 😂😂😂 That’s what happens when you only read the last sentence of a post.
  13. The last 20 minutes was like the Alamo so we were probably lucky to come away with a draw in the end but yeah it was a shocking decision. If the result had mattered Clarke wouldn’t have taken off Tierney, Robertson and Cooper and we would likely have held on as we looked comfortable until the subs were made. If we can score a few goals against Luxembourg our confidence and morale will be just where we need it to be going into the finals.
  14. Better make sure you don’t use too much sanitizer or you might need to leave your seat and go for a pish.
  15. How would you go about doing that? Just turning up early you mean? Or requesting an earlier slot? I would imagine the stewards would turn you away if you turned up early. I doubt UEFA will entertain any requests as they would get inundated with people wanting to change.
  16. Yeah it sounds like it will be a bit of a farce. Will be worse at Hampden (for the fans) as there will be no beer but at least the food queues shouldn’t be that bad. People won’t be up queueing for a pie every 15 minutes. As much a UEFA love fleecing fans they had to have some sort of staggered entry to prevent long queues at the turnstiles I suppose. They could have banned alcohol to try and help the situation inside the stadiums but their juicy contract with Heineken would have been in danger and there’s no way they’d want to lose that.
  17. Travelling isn’t really an issue if Fleck caught the virus before he travelled. If the team had stayed at home Fleck would still have tested positive and the 6 players would probably still have been identified as close contacts. Or at least some other players would have. It sounds like the Spanish regulations aren’t as strict as ours so it might actually work out better that the team is over there and not in Scotland. Travelling is safe if all protocols are followed. If it wasn’t the tournament couldn’t go ahead as teams are traveling all over Europe.
  18. Go on then, enlighten us.
  19. True but there shouldn’t be a need for everyone to go to the bar at the same time. If they didn’t have entry slots most people would rock up at the turnstiles 15-30 minutes before kick off. If they do sell beer at Wembley then you can only drink it on the concourses and can’t take it to your seat (or at least you’re not meant to) so it could be an issue if everyone is hanging around getting pished.
  20. I doubt it as it’s a friendly. Scotland National Team Facebook/Twitter pages would probably be the best place to check.
  21. Depends how they do it I suppose. As long as there are the same number of beer queues as there are turnstiles then it shouldn’t be a problem. You can’t have people in a stadium for the guts of 5 hours without providing refreshments. In fairness though I haven’t seen any confirmation that beer will be available at Wembley. Maybe they won’t sell it for the reason you have mentioned?
  22. It’s a pain in the arse but I’d rather this happened now than the day of the Czech game or any of our group games for that matter. None of the 6 have tested positive and none have symptoms so hopefully none of them have the virus.
  23. The quarantine rules don’t apply to elite sports. If they did the Czechs and would need to isolate for 10 days as the Czech Republic is an amber country. Not sure what rules they will need to follow when they get here but it doesn’t sound like the best preparation for a big match.
