  1. I just don't appreciate being told to educate myself by someone that doesn't know when to use an apostrophe. If you hadn't been such a self righteous, pompous know all, I wouldn't have mentioned it. I understand that just fine mate. As I have said countless times, I don't have a problem with any language or with anyone that wants to speak it (or just listen to it for that matter). I just don't want to. How is that hard for you to understand?
  2. *country's Maybe it's you that needs a better education? I know all about Gaelic mate. Reading up on the history of it isn't going to make me want to speak it. If you want to speak it then feel free. You'll need to learn it first though. ????
  3. Are you hard of understanding or something? I am no more anti-Gaelic than I am anti-German or anti-Latin. It's just not my language mate. I don't speak it and have no interest in speaking it. If you want to speak it then fire away. I have no problem with people speaking any language they like. I do have a problem with people trying to make me speak it and calling me a bigot because I won't.
  4. I don't have a sneering attitude mate. I just have no interest in speaking Gaelic. You appear to be intolerant of others people's opinions on this. As I stated earlier, I have no problem with Gaelic or the people who speak it but that doesn't mean I'm going to sing in it at the football. If you and others want to chant Alba at Scotland games then fair play to you. I'll be chanting Scotland as I always have and always will.
  5. I know these people exist because I've spoken to them and have also read their drivel on here. It's not a generalisation as I'm not saying everyone who doesn't go to games complains about the atmosphere or not everyone cherry picks the games they go to but you do get people who do. The point I was making is there is only 15,000-20,000 at Hampden, the atmosphere is going to be pish regardless of songs/chants and it's the fault of the people who can magically be bothered going to see us play England/Germany/Spain etc. but don't bother going to games against Malta or Gibraltar etc. for there being a small crowd and therefore a crap atmosphere. It's not the fault of all people who go to every game.
  6. No, I would blame the lack of atmosphere on people who don't bother their arse to turn up and then complain about the atmosphere they are seeing on television.
  7. If you think people not speaking Gaelic is a major problem in our country then you should watch the news more often.
  8. It's a dead language that is spoken by about 1% of the population and was never spoken where I come from. I think more speak Urdu in Scotland than speak Gaelic I don't have anything against the language and if people want to speak it then fair play to them but I don't identify with it and have no interest in singing/chanting it at Scotland games any more than I would sing in Welsh or French. .
  9. These songs will really encourage people to take their kids along to the games. ?
  10. Good luck with that mate. In a crowd of 50,000 at Hampden you'd be lucky if 500 of them spoke Gaelic.
  11. When it's the folk that never miss a game that make up the support there are typically about 15,000 - 20,000 inside Hampden. No amount of singing would create an atmosphere in that situation. I'd prefer to blame the people that didn't bother going.
  12. It's harder with international teams as there aren't that many games for songs to develop and bed in. That's why we've been stuck with Do re mi for years. Has a song/chant ever been created and posted on here that we've actually went with and all of the crowd (most of whom have never been on here in their lives) joined in? These threads get started all the time and never come to anything and going by most of the suggestions on this one I'm not surprised.
  13. What's with the insults? You 10 or something? It's not my job to add to the 'song book'. Songs and chants develop naturally without people having to come up with them on here in the hope that the 100 or so people that might see it start singing it at Hampden. Especially stuff like the dross that has been suggested.
  14. There's enough pish that gets chanted as it is without adding embarrassing stuff like this.
  15. Since the TAMB is closing down, I think it's safe to say that this is the most poorly worded subject title in the history of the board and it will never be beaten.
  16. There's a good chance they won't be seeded if Portugal, Wales, Sweden, Iceland and Italy all make the playoffs although I'm sure the rankings will change before the draw is made. Slovakia are also ranked above them although I'm hoping they don't make it. ?
  17. Probably. To be fair we were unlucky getting Wales as our Pot 6 team as they were far better than that but it was just a disaster of a campaign from start to finish apart from the games against Croatia. Belgium were the Pot 3 team as well. How unlucky was that?
  18. Aye it makes a change. Takes me back to the 90s. We were the first European team eliminated from World Cup qualifying 2 years later. What a beamer that was.
  19. There's nothing wrong with working out the permutations. It's part of the fun and we don't get to do it often these days.
  20. We're as good as guaranteed a playoff if we win our last two I think. Bosnia won't win their last two and I don't fancy Wales to either. Trouble is, we need to win our last 2 and that ain't going to be easy. Bosnia and Wales fans will probably be thinking there's no way we will win our last 2 games.
  21. Disaster might be a bit harsh but it felt like that coming off the back of Craig Brown's two finals and a playoff record. He picked the players you mentioned because they were the best players available to him. He also picked a lot of duds as well. In fact, I'm surprised I didn't get a cap under him!
  22. Unfortunately I think it will unless they change their minds. Maybe it will turn out to be a good thing in the long run if we can come up with an alternative. And don't call me Shirley.
  23. It will be a disgrace if we don't get at least 48,000 in the door. Slovakia won't bring that many so I doubt it will be a total sell out but high 40 thousands would do. This is our biggest game for years I would say. Some people might say the Poland game at the same stage of the last canpaign was as big but things weren't in our own hands then.
  24. True. How many managers kept picking Alan Hutton and guys like that when they weren't starting for their club? Burley and Levein were both guilty of that. Even Brown was albeit before Hutton's day. You need to pick players that are starting and who are in form. What do you suggest though? A selection committee like cricket and rugby? I think a younger manager would help although you run the risk of losing him to an English club at the first sign of success. Maybe a foreign manager is worth another go? I mean Bertie was a disaster but he was a bit of a doughball.
