  1. Both together. Aberdeen fans are well ahead of themselves and I never made it up, I did work in Culter (and stayed in Monnofield)
  2. *Coughs my mouthful of cold bovril out in disbelief* When did Dons fans never get ahead of themselves?. When I worked in Culter I had to put up with quotes such as "We are better than Brazil!" aye right
  3. I went right off him when Scotland played Moldova in Chisenau. Some people might remember the crush to get into the ground. A bus carrying the under 21 squad got caught up in the jam. Most of the players were waving and smiling at the Scottish fans. Maurice Malpas, who must have been in some kind of coaching capacity at the time, looked out on the fans as if they were dirt on his shoe.
  4. The capacity changed several times in my lifetime. I remember it being as low as 6k at one point just before McD opened and as high as 17500. Biggest crowd was 29 thousand odd. Edit to add - it was used as a neutral ground for Aberdeen v Killie Scottish Cup semi final in 1970 - crowd was 25k odd
  5. Buying the record might not make a difference, but it might. And maybe, just maybe, it'll make a difference
  6. I am so happy that Faddy is with us. For the last season or so, I secretly cheered when he was on the ball against St J. Last week he was braw. This week. fantastic goal. Today I had a lovely wee chat with Steven McLean and discussed everything about the clinching goal in last season's final. Top guy
  7. St Johnstone won the Challenge cup and The Scottish Cup with a bank balance in the black.
  8. Chris Sharrock, my favourite drummer ever (I am a big Icicle Works fan if you hadn't already guessed) appears with World Party
  9. The first album I ever bought was Old New Borrowed and Blue by Slade. One of my favourite tracks on that album is When The Lights Are Out. This is a great cover of that tune.
  10. In contrast to The Great Covers thread. - Original songs which less well known than the cover version
  11. Thanks for this and everyone for the info. What was particularly annoying was that, when I mentioned I had got a cheaper quote elsewhere and quoted their (EH) price promise that they would refund the difference, they told me that the price promise only refers to other car dealers, not garages. So, if I had got EH to do the work and then got the cheaper quote from McConnechy's I wouldn't have been able to claim the price difference from them. I phoned them up today and asked for the terms and conditions of their price promise but they weren't forthcoming with it "Refer to he website" they said. The website only shows the details of the price promise for buying a car. Ggrrrr
  12. Not having much of a mechaical brain, when the wife's car started strugglinh to start, I took it to Evans Halshaw where she had bought it to find out what was wrong. After making the diagnosis, they gave her a quote of over £300 to get it fixed. A quick visit to McConnechy's just down the road, the car was fixed for £75. Gee whiz, they (EH) know how to charge.
  13. I liked it so much, I went back a couple of years ago. The people I met there were extremely friendly and welcoming. Although I didn't go with children, I didn't see any reason why it wouldn't be safe for them - apart from trying to cross the road!
  14. I started going to Scotland games when I started work and went with work mates. We would start with a couple of pints in Perth, then head through in a hired minibus to a pub in Rutherglen. The Orleans Bar seems to ring a bell as the name of the pub we went to. We'd walk from there to the game and walk back for a couple more before heading back to Perth. First match was a zero zero game against Portugal, A quick search of the internet seems to suggest it was on 15 0ctober 1980 in a world cup qualification match.
