  1. Amazing how many United fans don't know it's actually a Bino's song!
  2. Just cancel it every year. Moan about how its a luxury you can't afford. They'll instantly offer you some crap deal on the phone. Turn it down. Your now in your months notice. Expect at least 2 call from sky during the month offering you better deals, hold out for 50% off as thats what they offer new customers, if they don't offer you keep declining. They'll either offer you an acceptable discount 40% or keep decline and they'll phone again else just let it cancel and sign up as a new customer, preferably in the missus name. Plenty new customer 50% deals about on various sites. They'll also bomabard you personally with rejoin at 50% off deals by post after your month runs out. Finally don't fall for any deal involving broadband. You can get broadband free from talk talk and sky just want to keep you away from BT who will give you free BT sport for taking their broadband. Although your probably still cheaper doing talk talk free broadband and paying for BT sport (Ive taken BT sport out on a rolling month to month contract, cancelled twice this year and been given a free month each time. Deals are there to be had.
  3. I've had sky for about 8 years now. I've had it half price for the past 4 i think. I'm willing to pay 40 quid a month for every sport, movie and entertainment channel in 2 rooms. I think thats a fair price for me and them. If they didn't give me half price your talking 80 odd quid a month which I wouldn't pay. I probably watch less football now than I did before. Total saturation and like others I rarely watch a full 90 or I watch it on sky on my laptop with something else on TV. I am getting more interested in the NFL too (although to be fair thats even more of a bloated money farm than the EPL).
  4. There's been something like 12 draws in th ACON so far and 9 or so 1-1s. Very fishy.
  5. If they're good enough to ref senior football theyre good enough for all leagues. Its a poor attitude saying he's not good enough for the SPL but fine to cock up the "lower leagues". Absolute pish, especially considering the number of posters on here who moan about derbies being reffed differently to other games. All games should be reffed the same.
  6. I think by having a wall your stopping someone just melting a shot a goal from 20 yards. Most sunday league duffers can belt a shot into the net from this range. By having a wall you prevent this and limit who is likely to score from a free kick significantly. The downside being, if the team have a player with sufficient technique the goalkeeper can be at a disadvantage due to his position and view. This method prevails as very few teams have a player capable of repeatedly scoring free kicks past a near post wall.
  7. Never a pen but the law needs to be changed. When is there ever a "deliberate" handball? Maybe 5% of handball cases, like McFadden v Norway, when someone actually makes an effort to handle the ball. Either change the rule or apply it. All this crap at the moment about unnatural positions or gaining advantage is absolute nonsense.
  8. Mat Le Tissier had a right go at the officials and FA on soccer saturday. Pointed out that the FA don't want to upset england regulars like Sterling and Cahill but will happily go to town on Cisse and Shelvey. Also brought up the Shearer Lennon incident and it was hard to argue with a word he was saying. Which was a pleasant change.
  9. Very recently. For the 5 thousand plus years until then we all (the human race) just got on with it
  10. So quite a few then, Actual gardening leave as opposed to their contracts being payed up over time? Did Wim Jansen or Jo Venglos not get "promoted" to Scout as well?
  11. Lincoln City put their manager on gardening leave recently, can't remember why. First time id ever seen it in football.
  12. I can see the point.mif you're earning 10 grand a month and spending 5 grand a month paying for your Ferrari but 60 grand a month throwing money out the window, the solution isn't just to buy a fiesta, it's to shut the fecking window. with the later a substantially quicker way to save money.
  13. To be fair this would apply to the british empire for the previous few hundred years too.
  14. I was basically just ranting about how I thought the whole war was a front to solidify heroin production and control the supply of it. I was looking for a book on it but I'll get a look at those later. Cheers.
  15. I was just saying to my mate the other day I wanted to read up on this exact subject. Any links, John?
  16. I think the MPs still have the option to turn down the recommended pay rise if they feel so strongly about it ...
