  1. Im not sure it would split the vote to be honest. I think a proper left leaning party would be a real vote winner at the moment. Especially if it could be run with an element of substance and honour. Imo such a party could quickly overtake the labour party as its basically become tory light.
  2. The band of foreign mercenaries we had just after we were "reborn" was probably the best football Airdrie have played in my lifetime. Some real top players in there but our current team are good to watch. Its just a pity that we cant really tie anybody down to a decent contract and have no real power to keep anybody that shines.
  3. Wonder if they would also have him do a horrible loch ness monster style welcome video.
  4. Im surprised that Corbyn and his large group of supporters havent either started their own party or aligned themselves with an existing party. My view on Corbyn is that I agree with the vast majority of his policies however as a leader I didnt think he was very strong. I think alot of ppl struggled to buy into his "radical" polices. That often happens when times are good, ie talk of nationalising energy seems like madness when most household energy prices were low. I think the landscape has shifted dramatically since then and alot of people would buy into his way of thinking. Best case scenario would be a proper labour in England that has him as a major part but a younger more energetic and electable leader with the same political views. I think that would need to happen outwidth current labour. Im not an expert on politics at all but I always thought Labour got alot of their money from unions and party membership. Surely a new party with the favour of the unions could gain some speed very quickly?
  5. That would be a good deal all round. Aberdeen get a really good return for a young player and Ramsey no doubt would have a great platform to improve at Bolonga.
  6. Not sure what Goodwillie is on but not sure we could afford him. Easton is a funny one. On his day he can be great but drifts in and out of games and can be completely missing at times. We have alot of youngish players who at least try and play football. Cove are very good though for this level, a mix of good football but also knowing how to win.
  7. Thats the thing that impressed me most about Lowry last night (from highlights) and friday nights cup game. He has an end product which is rare for a young player. He also didnt just take the easy pass. There was a situation last night when he was down by the corner, turned back and Taviner was free to just roll the ball to but he held onto it for a couple of seconds and slipped a lovely pass into Itten. I was pleasently surprised that he started last night but my fear is that Rangers go out and buy / loan somebody to replace Hagi and or his game time is limited by the return of Aribo. Given games it looks like he has abit about him but still very early days.
  8. Im from a working class family so nothing snobbery about me im afraid. Not wanting to engage in abuse or needless namecalling shouldnt be something frowned upon imo. We could all resort to being keyboard warriors on here but how tedious would that be. I accept your views on the word hun and its use. Im happy to agree to disagree. I appreciate that nobodys views are likely to be changed on a football forum. Doesnt mean I cant post questions or have a discussion though or share my life experiences, even if some think im lying for some reason like some on here seem to be convinced I am about supporting Airdrie.
  9. My understanding is that he is a winger. Can he play inside as a number 10 or is he more of a hug the touchline?
  10. If I had an agenda, what exactly would I be looking to achieve on a football message board? Ive never once reported somebody for abuse, use of words or any other matter so it cant be to get people banned or suspended. As I said above my only agenda is seeing the effects that views, language and actions have on society. Im the 1st on here to condem the idiots on both sides. You keep bringing up the number of times ive discussed it. Is there a limit on how often we can discuss something? I personally was interested in Ramys use to describe Hearts fans. That was all. If you actually are interested go and have a read of S74(2) of the criminal justice (Scotland) Act 2003. In particular the phrase membership (or presumed membership) of a religious group or of a social or cultural group with a perceived religious affiliation.
  11. 99% of legal cases arent reported in the press and generally only appealed cases appear in any type of legal news or website. If you dont want to educate yourself then thats fine. It also wouldnt be racially aggrivated. The aggravation would be religious prejudice. And for the record, I wouldnt consider being a clerk as an insult. They are some of the smartest people you will come across. You seem to have little to no knowledge of the law if you think cunt isnt "illegal". Not that a word in itself can be illegal. If you call somebody a cunt you are risking a charge.
  12. No there hasnt. There has been literally hundreds where the word hun has featured as part of a section 38. Pop down to any summary court in the west coast and watch for yourself when Covid restrictions end. I dont know what you do but unless its in the justice system im assuming that you are basing your position on what you read in the papers. This is a message board. You either accept what people are saying or you dont. You obviously think im lying which is your choice. My "truth" doesnt suit your views so its easier to call it a lie than discuss the topic. People will continue to act how they act, comforted by the associations they keep but it doesnt make them correct. Bigots will be bigots, sexists will be sexist and racist will be racist.
  13. If you have read what ive actually written it wasnt about the use if the word hun to describe Rangers fans. It was its use to describe Hearts. I agree that Rangers have the biggest element of bigoted fans which is actively encouraged by the club. Does that mean that all other behaviour shouldnt be discussed? Im not sure you can ban a word as such but use of the word hun is already looked upon unfavourably in law. Ive no doubt ppl will still be using it in 50 years time though as the west of scotland remains in the dark ages.
  14. Ive hardly even mentioned Rangers in this discussion. Yet more deflection by the bigots of the board. Anybody who challenges must de faco be a Rangers fan. Try actually reading what somebody writes rather than what you think they might be thinking. Where have I said anything that even remotely resembles oppression of protestant culture? Quite the opposite in fact. All bigotry is wrong and utterly needless. Calling Rangers fans huns cant be defended as just referring to Rangers when you start then interchanging the word with other teams. If people cant see that then theres the problem. You know when people like Slasher are wrong when they start getting abusive and trying to change the subject or introduce whataboutery. Its what people do when they cant have an adult conversation. I joined the board about 20 years ago from memory. So I must have been laying the seeds for 2 decades to disguise that im actually a Rangers fan. All those times ive went and watched my team were just to keep up the pretence. Id be more than happy to dicuss any or all things Airdrie but given we are a small club generally theres not alot of discussion to be had on them. In exactly the same way that there arent any threads on East Fife, or Falkirk etc
  15. Im very aware of Hearts singing unionist songs, having unionist tendencies and displaying anti irish / catholic flags etc etc. Thats my point that you seem to be unable to grasp. That the use of the term Hun to describe that behaviour is nothing to do with the Rangers and everything to do with the right wing protestant supporters. So hiding behind the excuse that you refer to Rangers as huns because it describes a rangers supporter totally falls down when its extended to other clubs fans and their "traits". You say Airdrie arent Huns yet the very behaviour you describe for Hearts is exactly the type of thing you are attempting to call me out on with regards to Airdrie. So just to some up. A hun is a unionist who sings anti irish / catholic songs or displays anti irish / catholic flags regardless of what team they support? Hmm wonder what religion falls into that category. But yeah, im at it. Have a look in the mirror.
  16. So unable to say then. As I suspected. You are unable to provide the traits because you know it wouldnt stand up. Slagging Airdrie wont affect me. Im the 1st to say that we have a not insignificant element of our support that a hugely scummy.
  17. Go on then. What are the traits that Hearts share with Rangers but no other fans share. (Because Hun isnt used to describe these teams)
  18. Lowry looked really good from the highlights. Most impressed by his end product and looks comfortable with both feet. Hopefully he gets a run in the Rangers team. He certainly performed better than most in the cup and again tonight from what ive seen.
  19. The religion of Hearts is relevent because its one of the "traits" that link Rangers with Hearts. If its just about scummy fans then loads of clubs up and down the country would be huns. Did you not even read my last post? I married a catholic, my son is a catholic. Im more than aware of the difficulties that catholics have been subjected to. That however is no justification for continuing the use of bigoted language regardless of what side of the divide you are on. I want Scotland to be a better place to live and work. Is that such a bad thing? Would the world not be a better place if football rivalry could just be about football and not about their faith, political views or family background? The uber defence of one side of the argument based on what team you support is a large part of the problem but as Ramy says, if you are through and through then its ok isnt it. And just for the record, saying Airdrie died really doesnt bother me as im not in primary school.
  20. The only agenda I have is seeing the harm bigotry and its association with football in particular has on society. Spend some time in Glasgow sheriff court and cases are full of needless violence, often sparked by or escalated by bigotry. Its so engrained into west coast society that even intelligent normal people get blinded by its effects. Hearts share many of the traits of Rangers? I dont even know what that means if its not that their support is mainly pro union / protestant. (And vocally scummy) Are linfield also Huns or Hun light etc. If so it makes a mockery of the suggestion that its to with Rangers and more to do with certain traits associated with agrressive unionist protestants. I dont intend to go round in circles though. My question to Ramy was specifically about his use in connection to Hearts. His reply that he was Celtic through and through probably said more about the deeper problems in society than I could ever elocute. And for the avoidance of doubt in case you think im having a go at Celtic, I equally despise the use of any bigoted term used to describe Catholics given that I married one and have christened my son as a one.
  21. You have a better memory than me. Any previous discussions have been around people using the word hun in reference to Rangers. Theres a postion (not one I agree with) but a position to be forwarded in defence of that however my interest tonight was about the use of the word hun to refer to Hearts. I cant for the life of me get my head around how the use of a word which is apparently about Rangers can then be justified when refering to a completely different team, in a different city with no actual connection to Rangers.
  22. Nope. I just struggle to get my head around why grown adults would choose to use bigoted language and always interested to hear their attempts at justifying.
  23. Can you offer an explanation of the use of the word hun to describe both Rangers and Hearts?
  24. Yeah but that position only works when you arent describing Hearts as Huns.
  25. I honesty dont mean this as a ctiticism but do you see that you have picked up bigoted language (whether you meant to or not) and continue to use it. I assume you and your mates didnt invent the use of the term diet hun and as you say you have seen it used elsewhere. I hope you can see from my explanation about the context of the use of the word that its not used to describe Rangers but linked to people who are protestant or in favour of the union. Id never criticise somebody unless they know better. You now know better I hope.
