  1. I looked into Clarkes contract, he signed a extension in March to extend to 2026 after the World Cup end's. I believe he will see it through, the chance to make more history seems too great to me. If Clarke goes to England, he would be suited to a team who are underperforming like what we were, someone like Everton, Leeds, Leicester, Southampton. Maybe because of his connection, the Chelsea job would be his dream but they would never go for him, and they will surely get their act together next year. An Old Firm appointment wouldn't suit him either and I don't think the likes of Aberdeen would be tempting enough or pay him enough. A club gig abroad would be a possibility but uprooting yourself in your 60's is less appealing. Perhaps another international job for say the likes of USA would be a potential that I could see as that would be less hour's. My ideal scenario is similar to a Roxburgh to Brown handoff, with someone coming in to develop for a few years.
  2. I can't fathom losing Steve Clarke, I believe he is 59 under contract for another 3 years. Surely, he is making good money, appears to be loving the job, most of the fan base are happy with him and has challenging goals. If he wants to go back to domestic football, he can get us to a World Cup and then go off to a top 10 English team, or even a team on the continent.
  3. Well done to most of the volunteers who worked hard to get the pitch in a state so the rest of us could enjoy the game. The guy with the leaf blower needed to be subbed. Hampden needs more rollers, the brooms helped but I was really worried about the state of the pitch. Isn't there more modern ways of solving this situation?
  4. If we beat Cyprus away, and Norway lose to Spain - we are going to Germany
  5. You'd have to think this pitch will sap your energy. We shall probably see Tierney come off soon. I would like to see Nisbet on as well
  6. During the anthems, did anyone else a guy squeeze his girls/sisters(?) Boobie with his arm over her shoulder? It was hilarious.
  7. Georgia are just getting anything going. We have been very positive and had some great chances. I feel if it were not for the pitch McGinn would have slotted his chance away.
  8. Another 10-minute delay after announcing a kickoff. That suggest Georgia refused to come out, and they should have forfeited the match. Thing is, I would rather watch a game that be awarded silly points
  9. Fans should be cheering for Georgia to come out, controversial I now but surely most of the fans want to see the game go ahead.
  10. 77% possession, twa shots, een goal - this Barca level stuff
  11. The DJ is playing a blinding set tonight. Walking on Sunshine now
  12. I reckon play till 45, with no extra time. get more relief at half time and then play second half with extra time if it warrants it.
  13. The ball is rolling ok in these warmup sessions form what I have seen. Ball bouncing sure that will be affected somewhat.
  14. Question is , do either team have a say or is it down to Ref and UEFA if the match restarts or not? Georgia manager body language say he disna want to play
  15. Nice I like that . Gilmour starts which is great. McGregor has some engine on him, how many matches does that lad start a season? 3-5-1-1 in attack 5-3/4-1 in defense
  16. I like the receipts you brought, he has learned over his tenure which is what you should expect. I felt when Strachan departed, that he took had learned and we were going to go into that next campaign with a better showing from him. All of us learn through experiences - I would call out the following as key moments that have have changed Clarke for the better 1. Obviously the experience of qualification via playoffs over Israel and Serbia. Experiencing what the gained with EURO 2020 gives you appetite for more. 2. Handling said immediate celebrations. We underperformed in the next game with a whimper. We should have handled that better. 3. Playoffs are great, but are hard hard work for them to go in your favor. Far better to not need them and thus every game needs professionalism in your regular campaign. 4. Ukraine play off for World Cup - We all have our opinions but big picture we did not play at our best for reasons. Nothing was guaranteed but if your poor then your chances are greatly reduced. 5. Working with the rules of the game to get us the best squad available. I believe we had missed opportunities testing or exposing other keepers.
  17. Clarke has a 50% win rate, if he gets us to another to another Euro's I would put him on the cusp of being in the top five Managers in our last 50 years. If Clarke gets us to a 2nd consecutive EURO and we made it out of the group stage then you could debate him being in our top three ever in terms of accomplishment, but two EURO's and a World Cup then it gets very interesting. 1. Jock Stein - One World Cup, qualified for Mexico 86 play off but sadly life cut short. 2. Willie Ormond - Unbeaten at a World Cup 3. Andy Roxburgh - One Euro, one World Cup (better World Cup record than...) 4. Craig Brown - One World Cup, One Euro 5. Ally McLeod - One World Cup I understand the tournaments were smaller in days gone by.
  18. Dykes has scored 9 goals to date for us in 4 years and 29 appearances. I would love to see him crack the top ten list which would mean another 5 to equal Mo Johnson. He isn't a prolific scorer but he is so suited to our style of play, we are very blessed to have him.
  19. Armstrong in for Christie That's about all I would change. I am keeping Gilmour on the bench.
  20. Could you imagine if this group was World Cup qualification, mental.
  21. I am lost for words. The Norway coach taking off Haaland when they are only 1 up was a real shocker. Dykes should be the man of the match, he could easily have gone to sleep but scored once and was massive with his layoff for the second. McGinn with his cross instead of shooting showed real awareness. The problem I find with Scotland is always considering the future and not enjoying the moment and deferring the enjoyment. We are 8 points off our 2nd place main rival in Norway and 6 points clear of Spain who don't play until September. If we keep our composure and beat Georgia then we are 9 points ahead of 2nd place in the league in Spain we can totally enjoy the summer which I think mathematically means 4 points in our last 4 matches would get us to Germany.
