  1. It would have been easier to fill this team if I'd played 7 or 8 strikers & not bothered too much about the defence. Cowan & Morrison make it in on the basis of being absolute Town legends. I'm sure Gary Naysmith is a better LB than Tommy Cowan, but he nicks it for his skill in doing pumped-up clenched fist salutes in front of the home fans whenever we won. GK - Sandy Mutch RB - David Steele LB - Tom Cowan CB - Andy Morrison CB - Murray Wallace M - Scott Arfield M - Jimmy McGill M - Neil McNab M - Kevin Gallagher CF - Alex Jackson CF - Denis Law Manager - Bill Shankly Assistant Manager - Andy Beattie
  2. I keep getting loads of posts saying this is Nature taking revenge or teaching is a lesson, but if it’s a living thing maybe it’s just Nature’s way of telling us there are too many Vegans.
  3. I wasn’t totally sure about my guess for (music) no. 7 but can’t think of anything better than what I came up with!
  4. This one is driving me crackers, assuming it's not a 1970s punk band!
  5. Just got 9...doh!! And my thought on 15 were late 70s punk so similar era to when 15 started out. So I’ll rethink that one. Big Ears not helping yet!!
  6. I’m stuck completely on 8 & 9, plus my suggestion for 15 is probably wrong!
  7. Marlon King used to play for Birmingham which gives a good enough reason for this...
  8. I saw this lot in the East End of London one Friday night back in the 80s. Before they did this song, they shouted out 'Is anyone off to the football tomorrow?' They were all West Ham fans as I remember. Now it was a very trendy, studenty sort of an audience & as I stook my hand up in my drunken state shouting 'yeah' everyone looked at me as there was only me. "Nice one mate, where you off?" "Bristol Rovers to watch Huddersfield Town" A sort of uncomfortable silence, lead singer says "Oh, right mate" & then... (Edit to add, I made it there in spite of the hangover to see us lose 3-1)
  9. I don't really do locks any more. It's more sort of a greyish clump resembling burnt out fuse wire.
  10. I suggested that Mrs H did mine before she left...not sure if her reply would get past a swear filter, but the basics of it were..."no".
  11. For the first time ever in my life I cut my own hair last week. As in bought a clipper set & lawnmowered my head. +1 from me for barber appreciation.
  12. Strictly speaking the two shoes together should be multiplied (due to the absence of an addition sign). A pair clearly equals 10 so a single shoe is the square root of 10.
  13. In that case, my next guess is 13.16227766... I can explain my workings 😂
  14. All my empties entertain me in these lonely hours.
  15. Long enough to be in perpetual stress about running out of beer.
  16. Clean the house? I suppose I could do 😉 I can relate to your uncle. It’s driving me crackers having to wipe things down. Even letters. I just did a quick search for books anyway. I noticed you can still get a copy of ‘Teach Yourself Chess’ by Bill Hartston. It’s an old book, but a very good one so I’m not surprised it looks like it’s still in print, though you might get a cheap 2nd hand one on Amazon. If you don’t see any others you like, I’d go for that. Let me know how you get on & if there’s anything that doesn’t make sense!
