I think Rooney especially deserves a shot. He has played RWB role nearly all season so its normal for him and offers something really different with his power and heading ability. His crossing and passing looks a wee bit to be improved on going by yesterdays performance but rwb is our on paper at least weakest position although odonnell has also imo done really well. He would give teams something to worry about if say they have a small left back then it is an area to target . Ive not saw enough of him to comment on his positioning which is all important at international level but there is only one way to find out and that is get him in squad to see. I really hope clarke picks a squad of maybe 40 for original training camp then whittles it down to the required 23/25 or whatever it is. That way likes of rooney,gauld,turnbull,gilmour,wright,patterson,griffiths and some others can push their claim for a place in final squad as this season above all others has been different to say the least and theres no doubt some players will be fresher and more up for it physically and mentally then others. Canny wait getting more exciting every passing week!

I think Tierney position is a bit of a masterstroke by clarke as hes like a free role when we attack meaning no one picks him up and he gets into positions where hes 1on1 and his power and pace gets him by his man and cross into box. Mctominay is same on other side he has more time on ball and his forward passing is in the main excellent. I agree mcgregor and McLean for me they are too one footed but done ok last night. Gilmour and jack in there with mcginn and turnbull with Adam's up top is at this point now my preferred team. Loads of threats and loads of keepers of the ball. Cant wait for euros.

Before that pumped in Kazakhstan 4-0 and struggled against san Marino.The team Belgium had at that time was nearly I'd say best in world and we were very poor. Now since then we have played 13 games and only lost twice both 1-0 away to israel and Slovakia. We have beaten Czech twice.slovakia and cyprus Kazakhstan.san Marino. And drawn with serbia austria and israel 3 times. He is a great player but so is Robertson and more suited tou your description of possession football. Ive just been having a wee look at Israel results and guess what they played Austria in qualifying for Euro 2020 game at home they won 4-2 and away they got beat 3-1. they will also think they can still get 2nd spot im sure

I dont get the slagging of christie eirther. Yes he is out of form but this is partly due to being in a poor lost confidence celtic team and also being played out of position. he has been playing wide right to cut in on his left foot but when that doesnt work he is not fast enough or have a good enough right foot to go other way which showed last night in a few chances he had wide right. His energy determination and in general skill shows he will and should always be near the team. Fleck,taylor,mcburnie, are 3 players who should certainly drop out for 3 mentioned. Palmer for Patterson or Rooney also. Some of the players in squad will never be good enough as their is better in front of them .

I agree with re the 343 352 or whatever but imo it is down to the fact we do not have players in the team who want or are good enough to keep the ball. mctominay mcginn christie armstrong etc are all get it and go fast or pass it to players who can do something with it they dont look for it back and keep it . I feel like a broken record here but gilmour and turnbull pass the ball and are always looking for it back which lets pressure build up. They need in now and when added to all our good players we have a team. Im fed up of hearing gilmour is not in chelsea team. Well said. The pessimism on here is ridiculous. Yes theres loads to work on but I think these games and training will have shown clarke what's needed. Gilmour and turnbull in please. We can certainly beat austria and I am certain with a crowd we can also beat denmark. A look around europe results shows how tight games are. Denmark was a freak result. I for one am not as despondent as I should be. A good victory over the faroes then we could be in 2nd with hopefully a gd summer to come

Odonnell didn't look like he struggled to me. Alaba was quiet and odonnell blasted by him once and was up supporting a lot. Dykes 1st touch I agree was poor but he set up our best chance and was a bawhair of Robertson's cross and won a lot of balls. Christie as ever ran his heart out had our best chance and set up mcginn. I agree that tierney has more qualities for lwb than robertson but l felt last night the 2 of them gave austria a lot to worry about with their different attributes. Anyone that wants Robertson out the team imo knows heehaw about football. He is a pl and champs league winner and a player with that experience and knowledge and skillset will always be in our team. He would be 1st choice left back in every team in the world nearly but you and some others want him out . hilarious patter. Turnbull should defo be in squad as should gilmour. Things are looking up but only results will confirm it.

This win our home games is a load of pish just now due to no fans and if we draw in austria which we have a great chance off and beat den mark in home away shootout we will win group. Denmark were under a lot of pressure v israel then got lucky goal they are no superstars. Good but not great. If we beat Israel we are well in it until fans back in autumn and I was actually happy enough with a point tonight as it was with no fans so shows our players are gd enough football wise against a gd team. Sunday was and is huge.

Think it will be same team as played serbia with hendry in for gallagher as hes no played since January and armstrong in for jack. McGinn and mcgregor double pivot as it's now called with Armstrong and christie supporting dykes. Be happy with that as I do think mctominay gets lots of room in rcb position where he can use his passing ability.

Heres hoping hendry is as good as we are all hoping. My concern is he is playing in the middle of a 3 in belgium and there is a big difference playing there rather than on the right in the sense when you are in the middle you just always have to be there where right or left you have to cover all the gaps so a lot more thinking and concentration involved. I hope it can work out as imo a midfield 3 of jack cdm with mctominay and mcginn just in front of him on either side sounds really gd with armstrong supporting the striker. Christie mcgregor and turnbull i feel will also be able players in the midfield and no doubt lots will change between now and the summer. If dykes can produce for us what he has in past we will be looking strong although he seems to be struggling just now. We seem have a lot of options now in nearly all positions other than rb and striker and goalkeeper. I just hope we do well in these world cup qualifiers to give us another boost then the countdown to summer can really begin.

Last night was not his best however imo this was down to him being in wrong position. He needs to be main man in number 6 position getting ball off defenders where last night in 1st half both him and kante were in same positions all time. 2nd half kante played in the 6 with gilmour playing further forward in the 8 and as pitch was bad chelsea went longer more often. Even with this he was involved in goal and great pass to abraham that should have been a penalty. He will I am sure be in our team very soon if he gets played in correct position and I feel he has to show it at training as tuchel stateshe is 4th in line at the moment. We are not getting too excited with him as imo he is destined for the very top.

Was beaming watching it. I've felt for a while he was playing within himself and that yesterday will I'm sure give him the confidence to do it regularly. I agree jack at moment is our best cdm but also gilmours Potential is unbelievable and a midfield 2 of him and mctominay could be amazing. We will just need to wait and see I suppose.

That's my team too but jack for McGregor. Jack is better defensively and also higher in confidence at moment.tierney I feel is too wee for cb as mitrovic will pull onto him.

Generally optimistic although over last 20 years I've been kidding myself on but we now have players playing at top level. We do have some who are not though and that's a concern but this squad on paper is strongest in last 20 years. Off top of my head since 2000 only Barry Ferguson.darren fletcher.faddy Hutton. Davie weir would improve it I think
