  1. At lunch they are 88 for 3. They'd have wanted to be around 100 for 1 at lunch but considering they were 44 for 3 then had Root dropped then 88 for 3 could have been a lot worse. The road map to recovery for them will be to get to tea no worse than 175 for 5 and close around 250 for 8.
  2. Murray gets an early break to lead Pospisil 2-1.
  3. I think he'll beat Cilic but Wawrinka he always has trouble with in big matches.
  4. Djokovic's struggle against Anderson could work either way for him. It is good to have a really competitive match and shows your game can stand up to pressure in the here and now. On the other side of the coin it adds for miles in the legs and means he will have a day's less rest and shows his game is not on a totally different level to everybody else. Remember that Murray played Anderson last year at Wimbledon and won in straight sets as he did at Queen's Club a couple of weeks ago in the final.
  5. No big surprise. The headline is totally misleading as in that he fully expected and accepted this was going to happen and in any case he is quitting after one more fight against another fighter who has been carefully chosen and is certainly no big eye-catching name as he promised.
  6. Definitely. I never saw any of the match but Anderson's game is very serve-orientated and I presume the longer the match went on the more it lost its sting and so it wasn't going to improve in the 5th set if that had been played last night plus Djokovic had all the momentum. Novak like a shark that can sense blood in the water in that he senses weakness in an opponent then he feeds on it and gets stronger - we have seen it time and time again. At least Anderson will be fresher restarting to do and that serve will have its sting back. Certainly the break came at the right time for him.
  7. An early break again for Andy would completely kill off Karlovic. He already looks dispirited.
  8. Murray leading 7-6 5-4 and about to serve for the second set.
  9. Murray saves break points to hold serve and leads 7-6 2-0.
  10. This just gets better. Muzza breaks serve straight away and leads 7-6 1-0.
  11. Superb returning from Murray sees him chisel out another set point which he duly takes and leads by one set to nil.
  12. Another set point missed in the tie-break from Murray. (6-6)
  13. Murray gets his lobs working in the return game and forges three set points but Karlovic big serve bailed him out of a huge hole and it is 6-6 and we go to a tie-break.
  14. Murray had set point when leading 5-4 but Karlovic snuffed it out with another ace and went on to hold. 5-5.
  15. Still on serve. Murray leads 5-4 but Karlovic to serve.
  16. Going on serve at the moment at 3-3.
  17. Yes he went on a gluten-free diet and worked to get fitter much like Andy did.
  18. Just tradition really. I mean at one time there were no sports events played on a Sunday (even football) and Wimbledon have proudly hung on to that tradition as they have to insisting the kits are all white.
  19. Serves two purposes really. It allows the schedule to xcome together now as all players now play on the same day until the end of the tournament having had at least one day's rest. Also being as this is a grass court tournament it gives the courts a day of rest so to speak,
  20. As a complete package I'd agree as Murray's mental lapses disadvantage him. When mentally solid he has shown he can beat Djokovic ie US Open Final, Olympic semi and Wimbledon Final.
  21. Obviously, not now but that is his massive problem now. At his prime his self-belief was second to none - that has gone now and it shows.
  22. Yes that plays a part but mental lapses don't help either. He has had them lots of times in key matches that have cost him wins. Australian Open Final this year springs to mind for a start, brain freeze in 2012 final when he led Roger in the final then the roof closed and he fell apart and then we had a semi at Wimbledon a few years back when he was leading Nadal and missed a sitter and he capitulated. Probably lots more as well. Talent-wise he is right up there but mentally he isn't in the same league as Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
  23. Quite simply because it fills newspaper space especially during the summer months of the football season.
  24. Murray won in four but that match shows why Andy has only won two slams in his career. He can have these dips/lapses in concentration. Against the likes of Seppi you can get away with it but against the very best players they won't let you back into the match. Still if he can avoid similar dips in those bigger matches he still has a great chance.
