  1. Apologies for picking you up wrong and I agree with your point about Djokovic - as I explained in an earlier post - his improvement has been fairly steady (and still is), with the change in diet only being one of many factors.
  2. Not sure what your definition of 'early twenties' is, but it's different to mine. Federer won Wimbledon at the age of 21 and again at the age of 22, 23, 24... he also beat seven time (and defending champion) Sampras as a 19 year old in 2001. He won the Australian open at 22, 24... he won the US open at 23, 24... Hardly old. Players mature at different rates.
  3. I don't think it has alone. Prior to going gluten free, Djokovic had already won a major, half a dozen or so masters tournaments and was comfortably number 3 in the world - behind Federer and Nadal. As Djokovic approached his physical peak, the powers of the other tow started to wane and it's only natural he would improve his ranking and tournament performances. His change in diet certainly is a factor, but shouldn't be overplayed.
  4. This is now worrying (stating the obvious).
  5. They could potentially meet in the QF and I agree, the crowd would be 90% for Ward. I recall in the 2012 Federer v Murray final, the crowd was split pretty much 50/50 due to Federer's popularity. Strangely (or not), when the same two players met at the same venue in the Olympic final a few weeks later the crowd was all for Murray - the power of a team GB polo shirt...
  6. Looking like Dimitrov's heading out of the tournament, which will make him close to dropping out of the top 16. Last year - a one season wonder perhaps?
  7. It was strange watching Nadal yesterday. After pretty much wanting him to lose every match he has played during the last 10 years, I felt sorry for him. His confidence is obviously totally shot and his movement laboured, but his shot execution was terrible - which is a bit harder to explain. Brown played a great match, but I doubt he'll reach that level in the next round. I only managed to see the first set of Andy's match live and thought he was excellent. Tremendous anticipation and a huge variety of shots. A vast improvement from the first round match and having a short, easy match at this stage will be of benefit in the latter stages.
  8. First (female) match completed in less than an hour on centre court. Federer up next - hopefully he wont win in a couple of hours as Andy would then be on closer to 4pm.
  9. I signed up last year for their on-line Premier Player stream and no complaints. £9.99 was value for money for what turned out to be 3 Dons away games. Could probably find a free stream if I searched about, but it's worth the money for guaranteed HD quality, with no buffering.
  10. Don't recall a nationwide silence for Clutha / George Square, although there were high profile localised silences (including at football games), vigils, anniversary services, etc. However, there was certainly a UK wide silence for Dunblane - the most similar tragedy to what happened in Tunisia. Each to their own.
  11. Djokovic nowhere near his best in that match, but that's understandable considering it's his first match on grass since winning Wimbledon 12 months ago. Kohlshreiber is also as tough an opponent as any of the top players could draw in the first couple of rounds. Still, encouraging for Andy that Novak's serve was broken a couple of times.
  12. I'm just glad Murray's on the other half of the draw from Djokovic, who will potentially play Wawrinka in the semi - not easy. Some big names in Andy's path, but he should take care of the first three rounds with minimal fuss. Tsonga has been injured since the French Open, so not sure how fit he is and he's slowly slipping down the rankings. Nadal - who knows?? - wouldn't surprise me if he gets knocked out during the first couple of rounds, but equally could go far - really hard to call. Federer is still a force, particularly on grass, so I'd expect him to get to the semi and he will fancy his chances - still, I'd rather Andy faced him instead of Djokovic in the semi!
  13. Not sure I agree with Murray being better on grass for the simple fact that Djokovic has a the better record at Wimbledon, despite them starting on the tour at the same time. I also wouldn't pay much attention to a couple of head-to-heads on grass two or three years ago, particularly as Djokovic has won nine on the bounce since then and has a tendency to get inside Andy's head at crucial points in matches. However, 'home' advantage for Murray can't be underestimated.
  14. I'd say that Dimitrov has failed to progress during the last year. At this stage of last season he had won three tournaments on three different surfaces - he hasn't even been in a final this time round and was particularly poor at Queen's last week. Perhaps Sharapova is tiring him out in other ways... Berdych will be solid and play to his seeding and Wawrinka will certainly be a danger and will be on the opposite half of the draw to Murray. Not sure how fit Tsonga is as he's had to pull out of all three grass court tournaments since the French Open. Hopefully Murray is drawn in the same half as Federer as Stan would have a decent chance against Djokovic, should they meet in the other semi.
  15. Bookies are rarely wrong and latest odds: Djokovic - 5/4 Murray - 5/2 Federer - 6/1 Hard to argue with that and certainly can't see anyone outside of those three winning the tournament. Murray may or may not be back to (or better) than his 2013 form, but Djokovic is certainly better than he was then. Djokovic hasn't played a grass tournament in the run up to Wimbledon for a few years now, so has had a good break after Roland Garros. Hasn't affected him in the past either - as his record of reaching 3 out the last 4 Wimbledon finals suggest, including winning the championship twice.
  16. Superb match from Andy - so much more relaxed when his first serve is working well. 4th title at Queen's, 500 ranking points and 380,000 euros. Not bad for a weeks work!
  17. Part one accomplished in little more than an hour. A superb point to win the match.
  18. I'm not so sure, ICT enter at the second qualifying round where they are currently seeded 63 out of 66 teams who will be in that round. Teams like Daugava will be long gone. If any of the three Scottish teams get to the third round it will be a minor achievement - as per Dons beating Groningen last year.
  19. Draw for the first qualifying round takes place at noon (Scottish time) with the second round draw at 1:30pm. No word of any mini groups, although from memory I recall them being announced on the morning of the draw last year. I'd expect both Dons and Saints to get through the first round, but all three Scottish teams would be unseeded in the second round and looking at the list of seeded teams, could be very tough.
  20. An interesting day ahead, which could test Murray's fitness to the max. Potentially 5.5 sets to play against 2 opponents if he is to lift the title. The semi resumes at 11am with a break point to Andy. The final is scheduled for 2.25pm, not giving much recovery time to whoever gets through.
  21. Federer through to the final in Germany. No play yet in London and looking at the forecast, could be a stop start day.
  22. Glad Troicki came through that match. Really can't stand watching Isner play - very limited mobility, but with a freakish serve - especially on grass. Meanwhile, Federer eases through to the semis in Halle. He wont be far away, again, at Wimbledon.
  23. Agree. A good test for Murray, with Muller having a great first two sets. Murray stepped up a gear when required and is now serving for the match.
  24. It looks like Raonic v Simon is heading to a deciding set, so Murray should be on court about 5ish.
  25. Eldest daughter born in October, 2001 and I missed her first birthday by being in Iceland for the qualifier. They (mother and daughter), never let me forget this and to be honest, I also regret it a bit. Since then, I've had to miss a couple of away qualifiers I would have went to, the home game against Ukraine and had to pay a premium for flights and other travel costs to ensure I am back home from my travels for that date. A definite lack of forward planning!
