  1. Like the sound of the Union Street Mile. Feasibility of fitting in a parkrun first to make the trip worthwhile?
  2. Heard an interesting piece where Kim Collins was saying that 100m isn't that interesting anymore as all the best guys avoid each other like boxers.
  3. 10 days not on the board. Going great, thanks. Might head across to the 2 Mile race in the Meadows tonight.
  4. Slightly late but my point was basically that someone who openly admits travelling to a foreign country to watch a sport where grown men, influenced by a young posh boy cheating at proper football, chase around after an egg and grab each other's testicles, has no right to pass judgement on what others do while away for a weekend! But hey, that's just my opinion
  5. Well as I said my 'hotel' was my mate's house in Raheny, miles away from town, and he was in charge of the parkrun that week. As I do it every week at home and he was giving me a lift there it would have been stranger if I hadn't gone along. I promise I had a few drinks on the Friday night. Each to their own though.
  6. I did the St Anne's parkrun in Raheny which is north of the city. Think it is near Raheny Station but I imagine there are more central ones in Dublin. I was staying there with my mate who happened to be the run director that day so I also helped him out by scanning the barcodes. The course is almost 2 laps, fast and flat and definitely good for a PB. I was only 15s off mine after a few beers the night before (I broke it by 4s at Edinburgh the next week). Don't see what's so weird about wanting to get some exercise if you enjoy it. Much better than getting hosed and feeling like crap the whole next day, not that I haven't done that myself in the past!
  7. Also ditched a 110 for a 220 for various reasons including the time to find satellite, but also the weird way the data transferred over to Strava making you look much faster than you really were (insisted in using moving time rather than actual time which was always a lot less even if you hadn't stopped). 220 is excellent but possibly taking a bit longer to find satellite these days so may need reset. Parklife I'm not a fan of Snickers bars but I still like Mars bars (England association notwithstanding).
  8. One of the best gigs I ever went to was the first ever at the Corn Exchange (paint still wet). They played all their singles up to that point in order. Great singles band at least.
  9. Anyone planning a wee parkrun in Dublin on Saturday? I am doing the one at St Anne's Park in Raheny as my mate I am staying with is the run director. I'm even meant to be scanning barcodes after running.
  10. Heard that fandan Louise Mensch on the Stephen Nolan show on Five Live last night saying that it was basically our fault it won't come to Scotland because an independent Scotland couldn't expect the UK to stump up for such perks. Sorry Louise, did I miss the second referendum which the PM says we won't have?
  11. I think so, possibly less. Usually 1/7 chance. More like 1/15 this year.
  12. You might be right and we might have a f***ing Tory Government but it would be OUR f***ing Tory government.
  13. Don't worry, I spent years trying to remember! At least you didn't commit the cardinal sin of a hyphen!
  14. Henman backed Murray over what he said in terms of it being in the spirit of the moment i.e. him getting the pish ripped because Scotland weren't there.
  15. Sorry for my pedantry but as my wife is his great great great niece (I think) I must correct your spelling…Cunninghame Graham was her maiden name!
  16. Anyone doing the Monklands (clubsportnl) Half next Sunday or done it before? Just wondering what it is like? PB course?
  17. Very true. Definitely a double-edged sword! As far as the ballot goes I've entered last 3 or 4 and not got a sniff and the way they have done it now will be even less likely. I did it on a charity place in 2013 and got a club place this year. They had a ballot of people who had a sorry mag and there were 3 places for 5 of us. Other clubs may choose other ways but worth a look though. I wasn't even a member when I entered the ballot originally.
  18. Ha ha sorry magazine ordered here too! I like km markers - they tick over faster. It's much harder running miles!
  19. Was wishing I'd entered that but given the headwind in first 2km of parkrun at Cramond (unusual) was glad I hadn't. Must have been brutal. Next year!
  20. Yup London is cheaper than Edin. I am on waiting list for Loch Leven. Deliberately waited till it was full and joined list as wasn't sure if I'd be able to get day off work. I think it was on Friday I signed up so might be worth joining as I doubt many will have (and I won't be able to take up a place if offered one).
