  1. The only good remakes are remakes of original films that weren't that good, but had an interesting concept. There's absolutely no point in remaking a good film.
  2. Aye, I do actually need to watch Lincoln again - it utterly gripped me the first time around, I was expecting to find it a tough 3 hour slog but the performances all round were brilliant. Don't think I could watch Still Alice again, heartbreaking one that.
  3. Not sure if these are the best films I've seen, but they're certainly the most rewatched by me in the last 10 years: Robocop (1987) The Terminator & T2 Die Hard Pulp Fiction The Matrix (although lessened by it's sequels) Batman Begins & The Dark Knight (although not TDKR) Apollo 13 Contact Trainspotting The Fugitive Children of Men Galaxy Quest Lord of War Most of the really good 'serious' films I watched recently such as Still Alice; Imitation Game; Boyhood; Philomena; Lincoln; Social Network are not really films that I'd watch again and again.
  4. From my view in the Merkland (with my niece) it was a definite foul throw. However we won the ball after the throw, and then gave it away. ####sake.
  5. Yup, me too. In Heathrow at the moment, can't wait till I get into Aberdeen for a couple of pints before heading up to the game.
  6. The BBC taking his words a wee bit out of context: And Flood is hoping that with almost six times that number of fans shoehorned into Pittodrie they can create an atmosphere to rattle the Kazakhstan outfit. He said: “Any time you come to Tannadice our fans are unbelievable. It’s a closed stadium and they have a section where they all go and sing. “Plus I’m sure they’ve had a few pints on the way, whereas at home they probably bring their kids and it’s more of a family day out. "It’s just a pity we can’t create that same sort of atmosphere at home. Maybe they should have a few more scoops at Pittodrie and we might get some more noise. “If only we could create that atmosphere it would be even better. But they’ll get behind us. A European night at Pittodrie is always the best atmosphere. “I don’t think I’ve played in front of a sell-out crowd at Pittodrie but we’ve played in some big games – the cup final against Inverness was the best thing I’ve ever seen. “There were 45,000 fans there. I don’t think you’ll ever see that in a cup final again. I’m sure the place will be bouncing and it sounds like it’ll be a full house. “We just need to make sure we get the result.”
  7. Thought she always sounded posh english to me - now I know the reason: Leslie was born in Aberdeen and raised at Lickleyhead Castle in Aberdeenshire, her family's 15th century ancestral seat. Her father is Sebastian Arbuthnot-Leslie, the Aberdeenshire Chieftain of Clan Leslie, and her mother is Candida Mary Sibyl "Candy" Leslie (née Weld), great-granddaughter of Simon Fraser, 13th Lord Lovat (a descendant of Charles II). Her parents own the 12th century Warthill Castle in Aberdeenshire. The Jon Snow actor is a posh boy too actually: Harington's uncle is Sir Nicholas John Harington, the 14th Baronet Harington, and his paternal great-grandfather was Sir Richard Harington, the 12th Baronet Harington. Through his paternal grandmother, Lavender Cecilia Denny, Kit's eight times great-grandfather was Charles II of England.
  8. To the tune of We'll be Coming? Please say no...
  9. That was the 3-0 game wasn't it? Pretty pleased with the draw myself, could've done without Lithuania again tbh. I'm off to Malta on Wed anyway as it happens to see relatives so I'll get some accommodation agreements made!
  10. That boring, asinine cardboard cut-out that sits on the BBC couch and asks bland questions had a slip of the tongue this morning: https://vine.co/v/e6Xnxj59OTp Strange how he paused before saying it as well.
  11. I was sure there was going to be a John-Paul in there somewhere.
  12. I went from an Amiga A500 to the CD32 - now that was a console that was DOA. Loved most of the aforementioned games, plus Supercars II - brilliant top-down racing game where you equipped your car with missiles and armour. Split-screen for 2-player was amazing. Still would stand up today I reckon.
  13. Think there's 2 more? I seem to remember even if we had beaten Real Sociedad last year we would still have had another tie before the groups. Scandalous really. 4 two-legged matches to get into the groups.
  14. So delighted with Ward tonight. Finally we have a keeper who comes off his line for the ball.

  16. I've been playing a few games that are VR-ready recently too, like Elite: Dangerous and Alien: Isolation. It's amazing the feeling of depth VR gives you; inside the Elite spaceship you can look around you in all directions and move your head about in the cockpit - if you've got a proper flight joystick you see your hands move as you move that. Amazing immersion, and it's only going to get better. That being said, I'm going to sell my Oculus Rift DK2 and buy a PS4 this month, while I can still get next to the original price for the DK2. The various VR headsets coming next year will be a leap ahead so I'll likely reinvest then.
  17. Pillars of Eternity is great, although I still haven't finished it yet. I see they've announced an expansion as well.
  18. Oh aye that might have been me with the Murlocs on one or two occasions! Had every one of those dudes
  19. I played Hearthstone pretty much from the Beta until a few months ago. Every day I got roped into those dialy challenges, I pretty much knew every card / deck and had a decent collection too. Then I just missed out on a few days before the recent expansion was released - and never went back to it. It's crazy something's went from pretty much a daily routine to me not even thinking about it in the slightest unless I see it mentioned somewhere. Anyway, feck hunters.
