  1. In lieu of losing Jack, I'd pair Tuerney with McTominay.
  2. Watch all three goals that we conceded against Israel and Austria. McTominay and McGregor/McGinn were responsible for all of them. Neither of them press well. It's not about picking the best players, it's about having the right balance and getting the dynamics right. Shinnie has been Derby's best player this season. Or at least, one of them.
  3. Yeah. I suppose. There has to be larger squads, though. Imagine if there's a spate of outbreaks. It could get interesting. Lots of unconfirmed rumours, isn't there? I hope so. Hopefully McCrorie or Shinnie get called up, too. The loss of Jack is a blow. As much as I like McTominay and McGregor, the thought of them ball watching against England, etc, terrifies me
  4. I was about to say that he's assisted two goals. Dykes is banging them in and assisting. Long may it continue. Without a doubt our number one striker. He offers something that none of the others do: physicality and a threat in the air
  5. Yeah. I'm one of them. I'm happy to be proves wrong on that one. I think it's a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder with Tierney. He's already spoken about moving back to Scotland when he retires.
  6. Aaron Hickey: Out. Ryan Jack: Out. Kieran Tierney: Doubt. Oliver McBurnie: Doubt.
  7. Because of the whole Covid thing they really must allow for larger squads. I'd even push it up to 30. Imagine if a squad had a rash of 7 or 8 cases. It would be chaotic. Yeah. You can add Josh Doig to that list, too. He's two footed, so he might be a solution to the RWB spot, along with Patterson. Oh. You just reminded me that Hickey is out
  8. I hate to disappoint you but I think Steve Clarke is intelligent enough to look up statistics. Scotland have not been capable of playing with a three since 1992. The facts bear it out. There's a reason why Craig Brown ripped up Andy Roxburgh's template and introduced 3-5-2. There's a reason why Vogts and Burley and Smith failed. There's a reason why McLeish and Strachen flirted with a three at the back and shied away when the media and online fans objected . And there's a reason why, when Steve Clarke STUCK with a three... and we qualified. This is what vindicated looks like.
  9. Me, too. McLean fills me with dread in that role. As much as I like him. McCorie or Shinnie have to be included.
  10. As much as I loathe England having a world class player... Harry Kane is world class.
  11. Yes. Steve Clarke has seen the numbers. I've posted the numbers. We are more solid with a 3. There is no argument to be made. I literally cannot remember when we were solid with a 4. It was in 1992. My earliest tournament was '96.
  12. Ok. Forgot about that one. Tierney: Doubt. I have my suspicions that Tierney will make it, even if he's 80% ready. There's no way that he'd let Arteta or Arsenal dictate. This is a player who could play for anyone in the world, and improve them. Arsenal know this.
  13. England have lost James Maddison (he attended a party in the days of covid). Ok. It's not through injury, but still. I can't see Southgate not making an example out of Maddison. Injuries: Jack Grealish will probably make it, but he'll need England's friendlies to get him up to speed. Declan Rice is a big doubt, as is Henderson, Gomez and Barnes. Harry Kane climbed off tonight vs Everton. If Kane is ruled out it'll be a massive blow to them. For them he is irreplaceable.
  14. He should look at players like Gauld, Hendry, Holsgrove and consider moving abroad to broaden his horizon. It's not a bad thing leaving Hearts as Robbie Nieson isn't exactly going to make you a better player... with his long ball mantra. He is still only 19. He's got time on his hands. His next move has to be the right one, though.
  15. Yeah. I think so, too. I used to champion Robertson for that role, but I think Tierney would be a better fit.
  16. I know. But it's nice to have options. Plus Morgan is very much a creative outlet. Has it officially been increased from 23 to 25?
  17. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lewis-morgan-sets-sights-scotland-23926100 Lewis Morgan should be in the mix for Euro 2020. His club have some star players, to get MVP is no mean feat.
  18. (Hopefully this will be a shortlist) Oliver McBurnie: Doubtful. Ryan Jack: Out. Ryan Jack being our is a savage blow. Unless we play Tiermey in the double-pivot, the only options are McCrorie and Shinnie. As much as I love McTominay and like McGregor, I don't trust them as a pair. And for me, McBurnie is just behind Dykes. So hopefully he's a quick healer!
  19. Yes. 100% We're now playing a system where we're hard to beat and harder to score against. The numbers back that up. Anyone that thinks Steve Clarke is sticking to this system just to accommodate Tierney and Robertson is a fool. Maybe that's how it started, but not anymore. Hendry - Hanley - Cooper/McKenna (Looks pretty good, if Tierney doesn't make it)
  20. Massive blow! There's no one to replace the type of player he is. There's McCrorie and Shinnie. That's it.
  21. +1 However, I can't see Adams regain his place in the Southampton first XI, from now to the end of the season.
  22. Yeah. Bellingham. As I stated earlier, Chelsea are a complete freak show of a football club. Look at Manchester United. For the past 80 years (4,000 matches) they've had an academy graduate in their matchday squad. That is an incredible statistic. I only think of Chelsea producing one player in recent history: John Terry. And even he was a United fan.
  23. Oh... I know what you're thinking... That you learned the mystical arts and you put an injury curse on McBurnie. Now, do a reversal and put it on Che Adams.
  24. If memory serves me, Chris Woods leaving Rangers had nothing to do with the 3 foreigner rule. He was world class for Rangers. If Walter Smith had a choice in keeping Woods, he would have. Graham Taylor made it clear that Woods would only be a part of his England squad if he moved back to England. At that point, if memory, Rangers had: Kuznesov, Gary Stevens, Mark Hately, Pieter Huistra, Spackman, Mikhailichenko, Gordon. In that lot, Woods was as important as Mark Hately and Stevens.
