  1. Ah. Then well played. The Mings one was astonishing. Not many things make my mouth gape during a match... but this one did. If he does it in the Euros, he's toast.
  2. Are you positive? I can't imagine it. That's when we were playing with a back four... all my predictions back then were "defeat". 😛 What annoys me is the lack of consistency with refs. I mentioned "WWF" earlier. This is what I meant. How can Hendry's challenge be a free kick and this ignored?
  3. No arguments, I do have a soft spot for Dykes, though. Nisbet is growing on me. We'll see on the 18th. I'm usually right when it comes to things like this.
  4. If you compare Calvert-Lewin to backup strikers of Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, etc, the so-called "depth" look rather shallow. Growing up they had better depth of strikers like Fowler, Shearer, Owen, Sheringham, Ferdinand, Cole. Now they have Kane. I'll take my chances
  5. True. Penalties, then. Hopefully he learns from it.
  6. Choo choo! The depth is more about their inside forwards and attacking midfielders. Take Kane out, their next strikers are Watkins and Calvert-Lewin. Scary. I expect at least a draw. The aftermath of the Dutch match made me even more confident. We didn't sit back against the. We pressed high without losing any of our defensive structure. And the way one of Tierney and Hendry stepped into midfield. We really are developing and evolving.
  7. To denote my general honesty and showing my objectivity. Fine. We'll see that sort of thing at Euro 2020. And the officials will have the benefit of VAR. I doubt many, or any, decisions like that will be reversed.
  8. Everyone knows it, if I a defender puts their hands or arms anywhere near a striker, chances are the striker will go down and a free-kick/penalty will occur. If Hendry, etc, does that kind of thing at Euro 2020 then don't don't be shocked if a free kick is given, because it will. It's just asking for trouble. We can't go up to the ref and whisper in his ear "In Scotland we have different rules. We're honest." and expect him to rescind it. Anyway. The match is over. No point talking about it.
  9. Fine. I'm going to take a note from your playbook. What makes you think you're more qualified than a referee?
  10. Earth. What planet did the ref give the foul?
  11. Technically, I'm not a neutral, but I usually call it as honestly as I can (The free kick leading up to the second Dutch goal WAS a legit free kick.) so I'm definitely looking at this from all angles. England are average. Pickford is their number 2 keeper. In the centre of defence they don't have Maguire. Who do they have? A Wolves player, A Brighton player and a player from Aston Villa who should be in WWF. In midfield they are as soft as a marshmallow. Rice is good, but he has no big game experience. Henderson is injured, Philips is inexperienced and Bellingham is 17. People keep saying that up front they have frightening depth. lol. It's just not true. They have Kane. Sterling is off form, Grealish is riddled with injuries, each time I've watched Sancho he's done zero. Foden has potential, but he's still only a kid. If we press high against England, we'll win. I cannot wait to face them.
  12. I'm not usually an optimist when it comes to Scotland. But, I'd be disappointed if we didn't get at least a point against England. I'm not sure why England are so hyped up, even by the bookies. Take out Kane and they might not even make it into the second round.
  13. Kyle Joseph linked to Swansea. Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle have been linked with him. He's rejected Tottenham in the past, as he wants guaranteed regular football. Going to Swansea and being their main striker would be a good move.
  14. Czech Republic 0 - Italy 4 It won't do the Czech confidence any good, but this Italy team do look like potential Euro 2020 winners. It looks like Manci has built an attacking swagger on the defensive Italian DNA Insigne might have a tremendous tournament. In their previous 10 matches they've scored 26 and conceded 0.
  15. My biggest take-away from that match is how versatile we were. In possession we played 4-4-2 (Tieney or Hendry stepping into midfield), out of possession we moved to 3-5-2. That'll probably be our system going forward.
  16. Seriously have no idea how England won that match. With Austria hitting the bar and having another cleared off the line, Austria could've won this one 1-4. I came into the match wondering how good Bellingham is... 90 minutes later, I still don't know how good he is. Yes, he's good for a 17 year old, but the fact that he's in the squad shows the lack of depth in their midfield. Take out Maguire they have central defenders from Brighton, Leeds, Aston Villa. Their midfield is powderpuff. And their attack. People keep saying that England have insane options in attack. This is definitely a case of telling people a lie enough, they'll start to believe it. Saka reminds me of a young Sterling, so he's good. Grealish is good. Mount is very good. Kane is world class. I've seen Sancho a couple times for England, not done much. Don't believe the hype. Their qualifying record is phenomenal, there's no getting past that, but when they play lesser teams, the lesser teams play against the myth of England, rather than the actual England team. Now TAA is injured. Probably out. Can we beat England? Oh yes.
  17. No idea. One of the beinsports commentators.
  18. Really well taken goal. Great cross by Robertson.
  19. I'm definitely in the minority here, but I don't mind Provan or Crocker. When this guy suggested early in the first half that the Dutch bench was better than the Scotland first XI and that playing Holland will be good preparation for England, as we'll be playing against a team who are excellent on possession and a team who will dominate, I had a bad feeling.
  20. I think this Is the system we'll play at the Euros. With the ball: 4-4-2 Without the ball: 3-5-2 It was a good half. As long as there's no injuries, I'll be happy. Gilmour on, please. I don't usually have an issue with commentators, but the beinsports commentator is doing my head in.
  21. Hendry or Tierney. A variant on the overlapping centre backs.
  22. It's an interesting system Three/five out of possession. Hendry seems to be stepping into midfield when we have the ball.
  23. If SofaScore is wrong with the formation: Marshall Hendry Cooper Tierney Armstrong Robertson McGregor Turnbull Christie Forrest Dykes Either way, the midfield is unbalanced. It could be a tough watch.
  24. Leaving 7 players to not travel may have forced Clarke's hand.
