  1. Can’t believe there are still folk banging on about Forrest...... he comes on when we were down to 10 men and we were already getting pummelled! There was far far more concerning issues on that pitch tonight from defence to attack!
  2. Cannot believe the difference O’Donnell......looks completely out of his depth tonight!
  3. And that’s the mentality that has got us beaten in these games in the past. We are a good team, with good individual players. McLeish is certainly talking a good game and I believe we will get a result tonight.
  4. Was Calvin Miller not voted the best u16 in the world in some publication as well........???🤔 Barring injury, I can’t see Billy Gilmour not fulfilling his potential, has all the ingredients, technically and perhaps most importantly at his age, mentally.
  5. Where have you been for the last couple years?? I am not a Celtic fan, but i know plenty of Celtic supporters who say he’s been one of the most consistently good players in the squad since Brendan arrived. It is never easy for a winger when teams constantly double up. The Forrest-hate on here is really OTT at times.
  6. Good to see all the Scottish players starting in the Rangers v Hearts game............f**k me!. 🤦🏼‍♂️ What happened to all the kids that Hearts were bringing through last season??
  7. He was playing on the left for Southampton in his last appearance........same as what Celtic did at first...... which didn’t work out well either. Does tend to take time to settle.
  8. Link to the Chelsea u19 goals through the week..... Gilmour hat trick..... second goal a great finish and 2 headers! https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2018/10/4/uyl-reaction--thrilling-start
  9. Paterson is just not international class in any position.....his only real strength is his aerial ability! Remember watching him at RB against Lithuania at home and he was poor, against better opposition he would be badly exposed.
  10. The fans have already made their mind up about him........... a couple even claimed he is “the worst player they had seen” for Man Utd! I hope he can recover from this and prove them wrong! There is definitely a talented MIDFIELDER in there.
  11. Mourinho’s management of Scott McT has been shocking...... thrown right under the bus......... the least experienced player in the Man Utd squad and yet he throws him in at CB where he clearly looks uncomfortable, and at a time when everyone at the club are at a low ebb as it is! And now he takes him off at half time!!
  12. Watching the Aberdeen v Hibs game.... we all know about McKenna, but Ryan Porteus has got some potential! Bit rash at times, but reads the game well and can play a fair bit!
  13. Wee Billy Gilmour scoring for Chelsea u23s again from the penalty spot. Bit of a set piece specialist to add to all his other obvious talents.👌🏼
  14. Robertson strolling it for Liverpool against PSG tonight, his cross for Sturridge’s goal was a thing of beauty! Not seen a performance like that from a Scot in a Champions League game since Forrest schooled David Alaba last season............ 👀😝
  15. On a side note.....did anyone at the match notice how vocal Naismith was?!! Love or hate him, it can’t be underestimated how important it is to have someone in the team like that. Kept everyone on their toes all night!
  16. Call me fussy but would be nice to beat a team like the Netherlands, and do it by playing good football and it not being backs-to-wall!😝
  17. Fantastic result......Ukraine had to rely on a goal 3 mins from time to beat Andorra at home as well! Never seen the game. Was it “backs-to-the-wall”??
  18. Spot on. I noticed an earlier post claiming Mulgrew is more of a ball-playing CB, but I would say that Souttar was just as good, if not better (am sure he has played as a defensive midfielder in the past) . Add to that the massive improvement in his overall defending over the last season or two, it’s looking a lot rosier in that position. Even against Belgium he never looked out of place.
  19. Yeah it was more the lack of experience I was referring to, especially if McLeish wants him to play a different type of game than he’s used to at club level. But the assets well outweigh any negatives in his game, and I’ve seen very few players with his kind of energy levels for 90 mins.
  20. His energy and drive were excellent, broke up many of their attacks and started many of ours. I agree, he did make mistakes that would be punished by a better team, but it didn’t affect his confidence. He is still only 23, so if he can iron out the errors he will be a top midfielder for us.
  21. Just back in from the game. Have to admit was really deflated when I seen the starting line up, but well done to the manager and the team for allaying my fears. Very positive performance especially after the downer of Friday night! Only a couple of negatives. Kevin McDonald, who i am not doubting is a decent player, just looks too slow and cumbersome for international football, doesn’t move the ball quick enough. And we should and could’ve been more clinical in front of goal. McGregor was very frustrating at times, wanting too many touches in and around the box, but he put in a shift. Also, although very brief, it’s the first time I’ve had a chance to see McTominay up close. The boy has got great feet for a big lad.....can definitely see the talent. Hope he gets more game time at club level. McGinn was excellent, couple of mistakes aside. Do you think it’s partly to do with the way McLeish is wanting us to play? There isn’t many better midfielders around at pressing and hassling players. How many times did he knick the ball off them tonight??
  22. I like the look of this team, plenty of pace and dig in midfield. Maybe have Armstrong come on for McGregor at some point.
  23. I did question this myself, but apparently Cochrane had a few injury setbacks during preseason, might not be fully fit yet. Gilmour strikes me as the type of player who doesn’t necesarily need to be a unit, Iniesta was never a big physical player, just used his agility, touch and vision to find space and go past players as if they weren’t there. Gilmour is very much in his mould.
  24. For me, harper and feruz are two that the media have bummed up too much before actually achieving anything! Couple of YouTube highlight reels and they are the next big thing! Feruz’s attitude and general application has proven to be absolutely shocking! Would never have said Gauld had “world class” potential despite the “mini-messi” tag! Very good player none-the-less who could still make a significant impact.
  25. I’ve touched on this on a previous thread, but the difference between our youth then and now, is the technical improvements, dominating possession against teams like Spain, which we have never done in the past. Add to that, Cochrane, Anthony McDonald, mickey Johnston etc are getting first team exposure rather than just standing out at development level. Levein has already been quoted saying Cochrane is the “best midfielder at the club”, and he’s only 16/17 years old. The future is much brighter, just will take time to get the tartan army believing again.
