Whats important is how poor mcburnie played for scotland in every game bar 1. I take it you watch nearly all our games like i do?

Replying to yourself lol? You can go online and see the amount of goals each player has scored in their career. Interestingly stewart has scored more but obviously mcburnies been playing a higher level.

He was in clarkes teams when he first took over right up to and after the serbia match. He played several games after the serbia match one of which was 90mins v slovenia or slovakia. He got plenty of chances in what was an improving scotland side and he was always poor. Also whats these negative tactics you talk about. Are you suggesting the 352 we played somehow hampered his form. Even if it did he should still be able to do the basics right which dykes manages to do. Dykes and mcburnie both came into the setup at a similar time and its such a contrast watching both play for scotland. Dykes holds up the ball really well and contributes with goals and assists. He has a 1 in the 3 record. Most games i have watched dykes play for scotland i am impressed by how well he performs considering hes just a championship player who doesnt exactly bang loads in at that level. I am all for mcburnie getting another chance in the squad but it seems like everyones forgotten how poor he played in the games he got.

Strange that coopers not there. Would be shame if he chucked it as we dont have many epl centre backs we can call on.

Thats a pretty strong squad considering its a meaningless friendly. Pretty much all our best players are there. My team would be Gordon Patterson mckenna hendry robbo mctominay Fraser Armstrong mcginn tierney Adams Unlikely tierney plays left midfield/wing but i would like to see him tried there as it allows robertson to play as well. Make 5 or 6 subs around the 60min mark. A chance for hendry and mckenna to build on their recent success. Just hope both teams take it seriously as turkey can potentially be a good test for our players and help the players gel.

10 times? Have you actually watched mcburnie play for scotland? Hes been brutally bad in nearly every game hes played. He struggled to do the basics that a pro footballer should be able to do. I am happy for him to get another chance if he continues his club form but it should limited to short spells off the bench like 15 or 20 mins. Stats wise mcburnie should be ahead of guys like stewart and conway but mcburnie has had countless chances and not produced the goods therefore its only fair that other strikers get a chance before him.

Pretty much every game i have ever watched mcburnie play in for scotland(u21s included) hes been utterly terrible. I think there was maybe one or two(max)games where he played ok(being generous). I am happy for him to get another shot but its a case of 15/20mins here or there off the bench. We cant afford to the risk of starting him in qualifying matches when we have guys like dykes and adams who have played well in the vast majority of their matches. Also stewart and maybe conway will deserve chances before mcburnie. If he goes onto score 25 or more this season then he deserves a place in the squad again but hes still a long way off starting matches for us.

You absolutely positive that the uk were responsible? You seem to get caught up in wild ideas and theories. Perhaps it was the uk, hard to really tell unless you have more evidence that can back it up.

I think hes a guy who would play for the likes of norwich or burnley and probably get relegated and promoted from the epl. Hes a player who would excel in the english championship but probably not quite good enough to be a long term epl player. Hes done well but i think patterson and hickey will prove in time to be a level or 2 above him and he will be limited to caps especially if ramsay makes it big as well. I like him and hes got a great attitude but its a case of him coming along at the wrong time. If he came along 7/8 years ago he could have been our first pick right back for those years but our options have flourished at right back which is great from a scotland fans point of view.

Ralstons done quite well for himself and credit to him. Its just a shame that guys like patterson, hickey and ramsay will probably block him from getting much of a chance with scotland. He will need to rely on one of those guys not making it at epl level and injuries to stand chance of getting much caps.

Both mcburnie and shankland are not really guys we should be pinning our hopes on anyways. Mcburnies had his chances and shankland to a lesser extent as well. They might get in future squads but guys like stewart and conway deserve gametime ahead of them. The three game internationals are probably not going to be happening again in the near future so big squads wont be needed as much and if we play a lone striker in the future then dykes and adams will be the first picks. Maybe if we play 2 upfront then that might increase their chances. Theres no problem with guys like mcburnie and shankland being squad fillers but its unlikely they get massive first team opportunities unless they really start to do impressive numbers at club level. I am not writing off mcburnie completely but hes had more chances than most and been absolutely terrible in nearly every game i have watched him in for scotland(which is all of them). Conways only unproven because hes 20 years old and only just burst onto the scene. If conway continues the way he has then hes a future epl striker. How often do we have 20 year old strikers scoring and making assists in the english championship. We should all be excited about conway, hes potentially the goalscorer we have been crying out for. Even if he turns into an average epl striker like che adams then thats great news for us.

Tbf all it takes is 1 or 2 injuries. Not really a fan of mcburnie but i can see him getting picked for the squad again if he keeps up this form. Hopefully clarke remembers how poor he was in a scotland shirt and gives chances to guys like conway, stewart and shankland when it comes to gametime.

Not a fan of mcburnie but we cant really turn our noses up at a guy who scores in the english championship. Problem is he was that poor in the matches that he played in for Scotland that i would much rather give someone like shankland and conway a try instead. If theres loads of strikers injured then maybe call him up but otherwise its a no from me.

He probably wont hit 25+ but i think he gets well over 20. Maybe 22/23 would be my estimate providing he stays fit. If he does get that then he should get a scotland call up but i still think it will be tough for him to get in the first team as guys like stewart, conway and dykes and maybe even mcburnie will be ahead of him and adams will probably be first pick. Maybe if we are playing 2 upfront then his chances increase. Not looking to rule the guy out completely but he needs this season to be really good if hes to stand a chance of being a scotland regular. Its true that barely any non old firm strikers hit more than 25 in a season. Griffiths did it in recent years but i think thats it unless someone can name another.
