  1. My god I got caught in this very scam nearly 20 years ago maybe in the same pub. We walked into this pub and bought a normal price drink and later in the evening got chatting to two 'local' girls. They suggested round of local drinks which came to a proposed bar bill of £150. Needless to say we wouldn't be paying that and tried to leave except the door was blocked by two huge bouncers and an aggressive barman no doubt on a cut of the nights takings. 20 minutes later we negotiated a £40 escape route and at 2.00am in the morning were just delighted to be outside. Looking back we were stupid but its so easy to be taken in.
  2. The SFA were stuck between a rock and a hard place as they would have been hammerred by the tabloid press and the British Unionists for refusing to follow Englands poppy lead but they knew very well that FIFA were going to cop them a fine which duly materilaised. £15,000 is a wee slap on the wrists and should be paid up with a wee wry smile as the alternative fall out for not falling in line woulld have been brutal. No doubt the issue will arise again in the future as these comical and cringeworthy 'poppyfests' seem to grow arms and legs with each passing year.
  3. Poles to the right of me and to the left and behind me in the South Upper. Loud and proud and not a hint of bother and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience if not the depressing last 20 mins of the game. Most Poles were mildly drunk, dressed in national colours giving it laldy as they sat amongst the home support.......just like me in Paris.
  4. I have one face value ticket for sale £40 for West Stand Upper Section I. 07803 923296 in Edinburgh to day or early tomorrow Could meet early in Glasgow at stadium around 6.30 but no later as no longer going to game as need to be elsewhere

  7. Ha Ha genuine but I know what you mean.To be honest for 3 notes which we dont even want it wouldnt be worth the hassle posting if it wasnt a legitimate ticket gained fairly and now probably not required. I would have privately pm'd the guy as well so happy to be up front. Expect some incoming flack though but if a Scotland fan can travel safe in the knowledge he has a ticket in his pocket then happy to accept.
  8. He could get one from our group as we look like 3 people and 4 tickets due to personal circumstances. Drop me a message and I can confirm tomorrow if the ticket is still available.
  9. What happens if you are selected by the SFA for ''ticket pick up'' but dont get around to collecting for either a genuine reason or are chancing it as a points harvester.? Is it ''OFFICEEEL warning'' for 1st time offender or something more serious. Just asking for a friend likes.
  10. Pubs, restaurants hotels and at the match every Irish person we met made a huge effort to be friendly and welcoming. Top class people and a complete pleasure to visit such a lovely country.
  11. A very good player and an absolute joy to watch in the hard industrial days 1980's Scottish football though lets not get to carried away as his contemporaries of that era particularly those who moved in England achieved much more. Unfortuately he could easily be tagged as a bigot if you apply modern day attitudes or a product of his time if you are being genreous I read his autobiography (1st edition) years ago and he made some comment or other about traditions and not wanting to live next door to someone of a different faith which made an aethisit like me just shake my heid. I remembered it caused a stir of a time when serialised in the newspapers and maybe was deleted out of the next print run.
  12. As one of the people who was heavily involved in 'The Vigil' outside the old Royal High School in Edinburgh thanks so much for remembering us though I cant see how it would work this time around though as after all like it or not this was a Yes/No democratic vote across all of Scotland which the good guys lost sadly. I have been abroad recently as well (North of Tenerife) as well and it is amazing how perceptions of Scotland have changed. People from normal countries especially smaller ones just regard us rather weak and ineffectual people and cant really comprehend how we wouldn't want to run our own lives just as normal countries do. I am thinking about digging out a Yes badge next time I go on holiday as it is a bit wearing saying 'from Scotland' when the other person if he has any political nuance about him just looks at you rather knowingly.
  13. I will be trying to stifle the giggles if anyone starts singing the Flower and I will be in hysterics when the rugger buggers blast it out. Maybe we should change the offending line to ''And we can still rise now..... teedum teeedumpty dum''
