  1. None of this excuses the use of the term.If you use a word as an insult it doesn't matter it's original meaning. Look at the word spastic. My brother has Cerebral Palsy and he went to Corseford School for Spastics. It's a medical term. Now it's no longer used because it's become a pejorative. Your use of Hunn is essentially the same. The fact you can't or won't see this shows your underlying bias. Oh and it's not sectarian, just insulting.
  2. No, I was reflecting back the attitude of some posters who are blinkered to focus on sectarian abuse only.
  3. This shows why this country can't progress. Too many folk thinking only on one narrow issue. Sectarianism is the biggest problem but there are lots of other things that are just as offensive that folk on here seem to think are ok.There is very little difference (to steal EKs example) between calling someone a Fenian and calling them a Peado. Both are equally offensive but apparently we should only be dealing with sectarian bigotry because some folk on here can't see that.
  4. You do understand you've dropped to the same level now don't you?I thought you were supposed to be really intelligent and erudite? Perhaps even philosophical? Seems you're just the same as the rest of us.
  5. 2 out of 3. The last one was last year. Those are just my own experience. I've got loads more cool stories from my friends though. Let me know if you want to hear them and I'll share. Some of them go back 20 odd years and some are from last year. Just in case you don't like the older ones.
  6. I personally experienced it there in 97. Also depends on the type of job you do. Seems to be more prevalent in things like the trades. Also had hassle while living in Dunfermline in the early 90s but don't know what that's like these days. Definitely still exists but as I say thankfully not as common as before. As an aside if you get called an Orange I've found saying in a mock confused tone "but I'm not from Essex " generally blows their wee minds. ?
  7. Completely agree. It's either no foul or a red but not a yellow for the first incident. The one in the second half was a stonewall yellow so no idea how he stayed on the pitch.
  8. Utter pish! Scotland doesn't have a sectarianism problem? You obviously don't live here. It's still prevalent in everyday society and has feck all to do with football in general. Why do you get asked what school you went to when you go for some jobs? It has got better in the last 20 or so years and hopefully that continues but it's still there.
  9. I don't go much anymore but not because of the singing. I won't be chased away by any bully or bigot. What kind of person is dictated to by the actions of scum? I'll go when I can and when I want. They're my team for better or apparently for much worse.
  10. I'll give you one guess. The answer rhymes with go.
  11. You can't stand it but you'll post on the thread? Look up irony in the dictionary, the definition has your face next to it.
  12. You may be right but I'd like to think it's not beyond the wit of man to define offensive songs and eradicate them as they should be with the sectarian singing.
  13. You did misunderstand me but I'm not going to be offended by it. ?
  14. Bollocks! I've done just that and been threatened for it. I got no backup from Stewards or Police so why should I do it again? As you've said these people are scum, so they wouldn't be shy of kicking your head in if they felt like it. The authorities need to take the lead.
  15. I'm not saying it's difficult to define what is sectarian. That's the easy bit. Defining what is offensive is the hard bit. The law has to cover both, don't you think?
  16. I'm surprised the Livi lad is getting done. It looked like he was going for the ball but just didn't see the other player and hadn't expected the ball to go so high.Admittedly I haven't seen it other than once on the TV but I didn't get the feeling he was being malicious. McCulloch meant his elbow and his step onto the guys hip. He was smart enough not to stamp down but meant to stand on the lad IMHO.
  17. I think the Ivory Coast keeper was a bit of a bellend but he kept his nerve on the final penalty fairly well.
  18. No victims here. The Rangers fans singing the songs deserve whatever they get. I'm just fed up with fans of other teams thinking their support is whiter than white. Let those without sin cast the first stone, as Scotty would say. I'd be more than happy if the SFA or SPFL grew a set and took a hard line on this pish. As long everyone is treated the same.
  19. Please try reading my posts earlier before talking pish.I'm excusing nothing, merely pointing out why the law is difficult to word (and therefore useless). I'm not comparing songs as I don't know the Granny song. Try engaging yer brain before jumping into "whataboutery / mock offended" mode.
  20. And this is why the law is so difficult to word. Some would say it's all offensive so should be banned and others like yourself don't agree. Some songs are obviously bigoted but others dance along the lines.
  21. I'd suggest that means he wasn't a thug though. If you're getting stuck into the strikers like McCulloch the ref will see it no matter how clever you are.
  22. I might have a wee punt on that myself. Judging by that performance we'll get pumped by another 4.Boyd, Miller, Black, Law, McCulloch, Foster and Simonsen should pay back their wages after that. Oh and Wallace should leave or his career will be over. The young lad Murdoch should start instead of Black even just to get experience. Vuckic looked ok though so at least one player was trying.
  23. No over reaction here eh? Shot? Are you 12 years old or just stupid?McCulloch is a thug and his elbows should have seen him off a lot more than he has been. As for David Weir, you must be blind. He went nearly a season without being booked at Rangers because he rarely committed a foul. You should get your eyes checked. And your memory while you're at it.
  24. Just you ignore my later post so you can have a wee pop, no problem. No deflection here, just a realistic attitude that it's not all Rangers fans. Some people on here though just can't accept that. I'd say they were the ones deflecting. In case you can't find my later post, or are too blinkered I condemned all bigotry and agreed that currently the Rangers fans are particularly bad.
