  1. Saw a tweet earlier reminding us that even in the last days of her disastrous Premiership, Liz Truss, had the cojones to sack Braverman.
  2. No doubt Reporting Scotland will have a representative from the Association of Scottish Second Home Owners Legal Executive complaining that it will cause economic harm to communities and that people will be buying their second homes in England if this goes through.
  3. I know exactly what you mean. I have no illusions when it comes to Labour in general and Keir Starmer in particular but I find myself thinking the same thing as I did with Trump/Clinton. Only one of the two can win and for all her many faults one is demonstrably a lot worse than the other. I won’t be voting Labour, it’s a pointless vote in my constituency. Perversely - and I never thought I’d say this - but I hope that Theresa May is returned as she’s backing a local project that I’m heavily vested in, I won’t be voting for her though.
  4. Well t hats because Tommy Sheridan is another guy who needs to be at the centre of things
  5. Fair enough, but it sounded plausible and it came from a competent source.
  6. I’ve heard some stuff about Sheridan that makes me think he *wasn’t* set up, the gist of being that the story in the NOTW was essentially true, that he had been in the swingers bar, but they’d got the dates wrong which meant he’d been able to alibi himself.
  7. Until relatively recently there was no league structure in Wales. Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Wrexham along with Merthyr Tydfil could only play in the English Leagues. When the League of Wales was formed, these clubs were given “grandfather” status to remain in the English system but could no longer compete in the Welsh Cup - which was the entry to Europe. Although they play in the English System, they are affiliated to the FAW. Practically this means that virtually every transfer - unless it’s from another Welsh club - has to get international clearance and the FAW are responsible for disciplinary matters even as it pertains to an English competition. There’s a couple of other oddities as well. TNS, who play in the League of Wales are actually in Oswestry, in England. Chester FC’s ground straddles the border, the entrance, offices and main stand are in England but the playing surface and other three stands are in Wales. They got into problems during Covid as England - or at least Cheshire - was allowing fans but they were not allowed in Wales.
  8. This popped up on my timeline, a wee reminder in the light of what’s actually been coming out of the UK COVID inquiry this week. The Daily Mail is not to be trusted.
  9. The SNPs problem right now is that a significant part of their support is not prepared to vote for them. As I’ve said before, some is going to the greens, some to Labour, the bulk I suspect are undecided. That little to none is going to Alba suggests that they aren’t cutting through and so those portraying them as kingmakers or predicting 6-10 votes are dreaming. Whatever the problem is, Alba is not the solution. The SNP can recover the position as the Yes vote is staying pretty stable at ~ 50%, but the need to start doing that. Alibi said they need to start attacking Labour directly and I agree with that.
  10. If that were true then you would be seeing a respective uptick in Alba’s polling numbers, you aren’t.
  11. 2022 Aberdeenshire Council elections, Alba share of FP votes - 0.7%. Total FP votes, 464.
  12. That was until fairly recently the SNP, the "wall to wall negativity" would just transfer, it wouldn't go away. At least Sinn Fein waited until they had a treaty in place with the UK government in 1922 before starting a bitter internecine struggle.
  13. Oh, I know exactly what's going on, I'm just wondering why you won't say it. Isn't it, that as Alba have lost every single seat since they've been in existence, all of which were because of defectors from the SNP, they know that they cannot win seats where the SNP are standing against them. So the "ask" is "give us a a couple of seats and we'll tell our supporters to vote for you". It's essentially blackmail.
  14. I'm not asking about the SNP, I'm asking about Alba, why are you so scared to answer it?
  15. How about you answer the question? You can’t and that shows you how dishonest it is.
  16. He’s just done exactly that, without the “fuck off” bit, to Douglas Ross.
  17. Who would be the others? Alba who’ve shown themselves incapable of getting *anyone* elected?
  18. I think we have to agree to disagree on the subject of the Greens. If I take you at your word that the “wokerati” wing of the SNP aren’t interested in independence then I’d also say the same thing about the “anti-wokerati” wing of the Indy movement. They *both* expand more effort talking about that, specifically GRR, and attacking the other side than they do about Indy, if that’s your measure. The prime example is Joanna Cherry. I see Alba have launched their Indy strategy, it looks very similar to the SNP’s one with the - defeated - Pete Wishart one about votes. Their “Scotland United” pitch on one hand looks attractive but there is one fundamental problem with it, they’ve not shown that they are capable of winning a seat, in fact given that they’ve lost every single seat they have, they’re stone cold election losers.
  19. My memory hasn’t failed me. I see you’re rolling back your story. Prove it or shut up.
  20. @hampden_loon2878 I will tell you why I know you’re talking shite. Firstly as I said before, that is not a term I use, so I know I didn’t call you that. It’s an Americanism, similarly I don’t use the “Mofo” term. Secondly, I’ve been on this board for 20 years and I’ve never had a ban or suspension, not one single day ever. There is a line and I know where it is.
