  1. Agreed but even rhetoric like this, even if intended in a slightly over exaggerated will do nothing to achieving independence in the future and will only serve to alienate those who voted No and will be there on Saturday
  2. Talking about 'battles' and 'war' between your fellow countrymen... In order to win the 'war' then you will need some of the 55% and cutting ties and complete division is not the way to accomplish that...
  3. Agree totally... Politics and football do not mix and never have! Go and support Scotland and put politics to the side for one day! If you cannot bring yourself to get behind the team due to the outcome of the referendum then you don't need to go to the match
  4. I admire your confidence but lets just focus on qualification by any means... Two comfortable German victories please. Hopefully getting hammered by Argentina and run close by Scotland will wake them up.
  5. Salmond was very careful with his words... he only said it was his personal opinion but non delivery on 'vows' would invalidate that
  6. I may have a spare... PM me if you are still looking for one. Cheers
  7. Same here... I was really looking forward to the Saturday Georgia game and a little trip away to Warsaw - the atmosphere is going to be so flat! I am going to the cinema for the England game - don't want to watch a second of it
  8. Agree... its over! As well as the various No groups, many of which will never change their minds, even if the Tories backtrack, I just don't think the general public have the stomach for another 2 year campaign like that... Certainly not for a long long time!
  9. I really hope that is not true... The media should be ashamed of themselves the way they ganged up on him and portrayed him as soon pantomime bad guy... He campaigned for what he thought was best for the people of Scotland... Many other career politicians cannot say the same!
  10. Is it because it was decorated head to toe in Yes memorabilia...
  11. standard Brown... Pity it didn't make all this noise when he had the power to empower Scotland as opposed to when he is a Labour backbench nobody
  12. Its not about that as after a Yes vote a strong Scotland assists a strong rUK and visa versa. I Agree that it will make UK markets / currency a tad volatile for a short amount of time. However, it will be Westminster that is to blame for that with their more powers, tory backbench pledge to vote against powers, no currency union (although I suspect a change of tune after a Yes vote), warnings, calling in favours from rich friends... They have created more uncertainty than any other stakeholder in this whole campaign. They had two years to have cross party debates in Westminster regarding more powers, currency union etc... They haven't and are now in outright panic!
  13. If only previous Westminster governments had invested in core manufacturing and UK industry then then it would be a pretty big cloud... Oh well !
  14. I suppose due to the media circus the point being missed by the outright rejection of a currency union by the leaders of the main parties of Westminster is that it would be to the detriment to people of rUK - the people these political parties are supposed to represent. The weakened £ will take a hammering against the USD and EUR
  15. Good post! I feel from my experience down here that these last minute 'new powers' are being portrayed as 'more hand-outs to the Scots' by the media and as such being projected on Scotland, whereas it is the sheer incompetence of Westminster which is to blame and they are failing the vast majority of the rUK as well as Scotland. The media have failed to take the main political parties to task on policy failure after policy failure.
  16. Does anyone have any spare return train / coach tickets from Edinburgh to Gleneagles on Friday or Saturday that they would be willing to sell to me? 2 required for Friday and one for Saturday. There are no seats left on either service all day from Friday - Sunday... Crazy! Many thanks!
  17. I feel the bulk of the blame here needs to go to the media, particularly our 'impartial' friends at the BBC. I have lived in England for a number of years and throughout the referendum campaign... Down here the vast majority of the public are been given one side of the debate and there is a feeling of bemusement as to why Scotland may vote Yes as all they are hearing is dire warnings and consequences. They are not hearing the positive side of the debate and nothing on what Scotland actually offers the rest of the UK. If they heard the other side, I feel it may be a slightly different story. Alex Salmond is being portrayed as some kind of pantomime villain by the media whilst the leaders of the Westminster political parties are being positioned as pillars of a strong Union! It is a total disgrace and it is this ridiculously one sided press coverage that it is creating the bulk of the sentiment you are referring to. Again, I would say the majority of the 61% are hearing one side of the debate and not getting any form of balance on the negative implications for rUk of a spiteful 'no currency union' stance from the Westminster political parties.
