  1. Let's have 2 strikers in the upcoming games and try something different
  2. There is no Rangers so an extra division 1 standard team to play against 4 times a season which is a great chance for goals. Nonetheless, a great achievement by Griffiths. Bear in mind he was 3rd choice not so long ago and had to fight his way into the side - Larsson was always first pick.
  3. Big step up from SPL bar Celtic - Look at the money that is spent on players there & Quality of some of the players in that division
  4. Was he? Shite to very good in a short space of time. Miraculous turnaround.... Pretty sure he was in great form for a team on their way to getting EPL promotion when he was first called up
  5. Yeah true. It's nice that some of these "eligibles" prove their worth and show real passion. People are too quick to assume players born in Scotland are passionate about playing for the national side and give their all - Which sadly is not always the case. Which is unbelievable. Hoping that another 'does he feel Scottish, get him to tick a box' debate doesn't spark up
  6. Well done and point proven! Ritchie has shown he is a good addition to the squad and will probably remain a PL player regardless of Bournemouth's status after his displays in recent times.
  7. Funny how pretty much all other nations don't follow that rule and regularly include teenagers in their full sides for friendlies yet we don't. I guess we have been so successful that we should continue as we have been going... Besides we should be genuinly blooding these players and trying them out rather than giving them 10 minutes of football. Also the experience of being around the full squad and international set up is very important.
  8. How has he never even made it onto the bench for the first team in that time!? Maybe he was vastly overrated after all.
  9. I see what you're saying - There are instances though where you can try, in friendlies such as these, which are experiemental and aimed at unearthing a new player/learning more about the players we have where you can swap a squad regular who is either old or a fairly tried and tested average player for a young player; Greer, Whittaker, Brown etc out Cooper, Tierney, Watt etc in
  10. It's not a huge criticism as it's just people's opinion on who should be in and who shoudn't be - You do find with Under 21 squads that all too often there are players ommitted bizzarely and players who are either not playing at all or way off ever having the potential to reach international standard included. Stark was bad for the above and Sbragia has continued this trend also.
  11. And about 100 others. Kieran Tierney is an example - Seems to have potential, regular for Celtic, lets see how he gets on in a friendly rather than putting him in the Under 21's and picking Steven Whittaker again. Tried and tested, and very average utility player who we can call on if we need to - Which we don't in a set of experimental friendlies.
  12. Yep unfortunately this is the case. It doesn't matter if the Under 21's have a game the same day - Full squad should always take priotiry as Under 21 caps mean nothing. All too often players gain many Under 21 caps then turn out about as much use to the full national team as David Wotherspoon, Ross Perry & Dylan McGeouch.
  13. All the more reason to try out new things tbh. Chance for a clean slate and fresh approach with all these friendlies coming up. After May having played 4/5 games we could be speaking a lot more positively about a new set of players and look to the next campaign with a bit of enthusiasm
  14. I expect he will go to either Rangers or Celtic - Rangers he will get a game, Celtic he wont. If he is moving at all I wouldn't say its a particularly bad move as they will be in the SPL next year. Although not a great league and unsure if he is even near good enough for Scotland anyway.
  15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35309483 Tony Watt to transfer permanently to Cardiff Barry Douglas linked with Turkish top flight as he's out of contract in the summer (At 26 still worth a look in for these friendlies maybe after 3 years in the Polish top flight being a first team regular and European experience etc) Michael O'Halloran linked with Rangers....
  16. Thompson will probably force Mixu to sell, get a poor replacment then at the end of the season blame both Spittal's sale & The sub standard replacement on Paatelainen.
  17. that was tongue in cheek as we always play those teams! But 3 games would be nice regardless, cant see it though
  18. Age is the main concern. FFS lets get some kids in the squad for these friendlies.
  19. Well it wouldn't be the first time would it? haha
  20. Be the first time in history we have played the maximum possible games. Infact the first time we have not played the minimum possible. I hope to be pleasantly suprised.
  21. I get the feeling the next couple will be a tad more experimental than previous squads. May even see a Don or two called up - Ryan Jack etc.
  22. Shoe in for the next friendly surely
