I am talking about qualifying for major tournaments. Even then it is not just about qualifying it is about having a good campaign and plenty of poorer squads have done that.

In terms of major tournaments a few just qualifed for the Euros. Northern Ireland for a start. Plenty of poorer and same standard squads have done just better than Scotland in qualifing for major tournaments without getting there as well.

Has anyone actually claimed that?

There seems to be this straw man argument coming that people are saying Scotland should be at major finals and the next manager will get us there. As far as I can see no one is saying that. Scotland have an average bunch of players and Strachan is punching below the weight of that squad. Thats why he should go he is out his depth and making us worse. Personally I am not looking for qualification as be all and end all I would settle for a manager that plays with a plan, makes us organised and players seem to enjoy playing for. Looking for better than the garbage being served up right now. If a manager can come in and do that it would be progress and give us a better chance of qualification. Thats enough for me. Strachan has Scotland in almost a dream group fighting for fourth. Not good enough and right to expect better.

The quality is there to qualify under the correct manager. Teams qualifying with poorer or comparable squads is evidence of that.

If Hughes tried to play his passing game with this Scotland side they would get torn to shreds. We need someone who can organise the team and play defensively.

So naive this 'better on the ball' claim by Martin. Strachan will claim it as well. Truth is we dont have the defence or midfielders to play that way. Slovakia let Scotland have ball untill shit midfield would lose it and they could attack the poor CBs.

Even without qualifying a manager can do a good job and fans can see the positives they bring. Strachan is a arrogant little fraud who has failed big time.

We dont have the players to take anyone on playing good football. Need a manager that can orgnise a defensive side and one who players feeling confident and better than they are. Hughes would be a disaster I think.

Derek Mcinnes should be favourite. Can afford anyone from any bigger leagues and any other managers free have most likely ####ed up their last job or jobs.

Play 4-4-2. Sit deep to protect the shite defence and have pace in wide areas to break. Organise and motivate the players to think they are better than they are and can take anyone on. A lot of the 'smaller' teams doing well in football just now are playing that 4-4-2 on break and getting success. Robertson LW, Burke RW, Snodgrass behind Griffiths. Thats my football manager bit. Strachan doesnt look like he has a clue how Scotland should be playing.

The next manager doesn have to qualify they just have to give Scotland as good a chance as possible and help organise and motivate an average bunch of players to play above themselves or at least beat the teams we have better players than. Strachan tells them they are shit, has no real game plan and has them playing worse than they are as a group of players. He has to go and the excuse 'no one could qualify this lot' as an excuse to keep him is lame.

A front line not quick enough to play on break and a midfield not good enough to dominate the ball and open them up. What has Strachan tried to do with this team?

Strachan will blame the referee, say the players are not quite good enough and sneer at anyone who disagrees with him as clueless

Idiots who partied after the Gibraltar game and fed Strachans ego to stay on as much to blame as anyone. Strachan has done all but came across as an arrogant little ##### who thinks the players are holding him back. Never heard before a manager that constantly goes on about how poor/average the players he has to work with are.

Strachan said this is a game for 'more experience' and explained that to Burke. My guess is Strachan is making a point due to his woeful defending and poor workrate to defend in Lithuania game.

Aye so team didnt look poorer. The one player that least looked like he gave a was Burke in my opinion. His work rate when defending was terrible. He is a good player clearly and will go on to get a lot better. Just this game I thought he was as poor as rest on ball and the worst in terms of work rate.

He never looked dangerous by what he was producing. Other players were looking more likely to create chances and working harder. Scotland looked more likely to score in his time off pitch anyway.

He lost the ball constantly through dribbling into dead ends and poor touches. All of them were shite going forward. He was as bad as the rest and lazier defending etc. A couple of those hopefull crosses caused troubles to their defence. Not one of his driving runs did.

Not singling him out. The ones singling him out are the ones who said he looked dangerous and Scotlands best attacking player. He did nothing and was a joke defenively. Could see his sub coming. Others like Snodgrass or Ritchie as poor as they were put in some good balls to box.

Forrest played well vs Man City and against better SPL teams. To say he has just been good against shite SPL teams is a lie.

Burke never created anything or looked like scoring, countless times had poor touches and was lazy as when they had ball. Always looks dangerous as one of those strong direct runs has potential to come to something but they never did.
