There is a 'bus stance' in Paceville with quite a few bus stop 'laybys' which I am sure could be utilised (Paceville is just an extension of St Julians on the Sliema side - up behind Intercontinental Hotel) Put me down for 2 places please
-
Unfortunately the SFA only recently signed a 2 year extension to the JD contract so we are stuck with the useless tossers
-
Deerus, Once again you come to the rescue. Can I please have TWO seats please - seating for the entire Sittingbourne TA. Staying in St Julians but like your prices

Started in 1974 World Cup in Germany (not counting several Wembley visits and a few to Wales) and never stopped since. SSC Member number is only three figures having joined almost at inception. Been to the 74, 90 and 98 World Cups and the 96 Euro Championship in England so I am not even going to try and count how much. I now live in the South of England so even 'home games' cost me a fair bit. Germany game costing me £70 flight, £35 parking, £15 petrol, £32 match ticket then local transport and obviously refreshments' So a simple home game is at least £200 I could probably have a large mansion and a Bentley with money I saved if I didn't follow Scotland but look at all the fun I would have missed out on and all the people I would never have met. Given the choice again, I would still do it all again France here we come (I can do the Euros in France cheaper than a home game )

Non Celtic Fans
j b lyons replied to ParisInAKilt's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
Rangers fan but I was genuinely disappointed they went out. Always want them to do well in Europe although I do stop short of wanting them to actually win a Euro trophy -
Nine points needed, assuming Germany beat Poland we can still afford to lose to Germany but if we beat Poland we would go through on the 'head to head' rule even though Poland will probably have a better goal difference than us (I think)

And I have not even been drinking!
-
Ticket purchased. As we are going to win our next three games we will have already qualified and this will be a 'nice wee friendly'!
-
Ali, a few beers as well just to help you enjoy the experience?

Ordinary post, tickets for both games arrived this morning in sunny Kent

Alan Hansen, brilliant for Liverpool but very poor for Scotland. I seem to remember him getting subbed at half time v Norway at Hampden in a game we had to get a point in, Never did it for me. Steve Archibald, Mark McGee, Charlie Nicholas, Derek Parlane are all examples of great goal scorers who never quite cut it for us. Paul Mcstay is another, great player and lovely guy but was mediocre at best for Scotland which was a real shame. Goalkeeper wise my biggest disappointment was Stuart Kennedy, he was a really brilliant keeper for Rangers but in a Scotland jersey he was a disaster

Just sent a PM for two places (if still available)

Always nice to get back again as well though and an 8 k hike does not sound like fun!

As far as I am aware there are NO buses arranged from Faro as yet. Not known if Gibraltar FA have any arrangements made for transport but as their fans will probably have arrived in coaches I doubt if they will take any responsibility for getting us there. . Ireland play there before us and will have a sizable support so all should become clear from that game. Certainly walking from Faro to stadium is not something I look forward to as that is at least a 2 hr walk (sober). Situation could also be complicated as it is a Sunday in a very strong Catholic country.

First one to grab the jersey on match day, all fairly equal with each having different strengths. Marshall by far the best at cross balls but the other two better all round shot stoppers. My choice would be McGregor then Gordon and then Marshall but happy to let Strachan make the hard decision. I make that Gordon - 8 MacGregor - 5 Marshall - 4

Saw him play in the 1973 game v Czechoslovakia (2-1) and also again a friendly against Chile (2-0) but my best memory of Law was an overhead kick he scored against Northern Ireland at Hampden. It was a British Championships game around 1972 - 73'ish. The ball came in from the corner area and Law was on the edge of the box fully 18 yards out, he jumped up six feet in the air and with his back to goal slammed it over his shoulder into the top corner. Goalkeeper was Pat Jennings but he was left helpless, I have never seen a better overhead goal in my life. If Law was a player these days I don't think you could put a value on him, hard as nails, nasty if he had to be but had great touch on the ball, took players on and could score with feet and head equally. Unusually for Centre forwards in 60's & 70's he could also link up play and often played wide. A perfect footballer

British Airways, Gatwick to Faro = £130 return. Only drawback is it is a 0630 flight

Irish Thinking They Will Have A Massive Support At Parkhead
j b lyons replied to andyg83's topic in Scotland Home Games
Last time we played them at Hampden there was a large group of Celtic fans in Celtic shirts and waving Larsson flags - not an Irishman among them. It came very close to a big punch up between them and TA and I would expect the same again. Not to be mistaken for the real Irish fans who are top guys (the ones I have met anyway) -

Good player and really nice guy. Was in a bar in Dublin when we played NI in the Carling cup competition. He posed for loads of photos with Scots fans & me. Happy to chat despite the fact he was trying to have a quiet pint of Guinness. Shame he scored the winner against us in our final match though -
Genuine photo - He was in the main stand until half time when he actually got down onto the track and I saw him run over into the terracing behind the goals (where McQueen had scored first goal) where it was entirely Scotland fans (as was most of the ground) Crowd were singing his song 'We are sailing' continuously and it all got too much for him. At full time I think he was dragged on by other supporters although I don't think he minded too much! Photo has been published quite a few times in the past - just not lately! One of the best atmospheres I have ever experienced at any match, great day

Police Cautions

Hi there Jimi, How is the job going, still enjoying it? -
Police Cautions
j b lyons replied to silverbear's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
You were verbally cautioned in case you were over the limit or later found at fault in the collision. Police policy is that all collisions involving a police vehicle have to be attended by a supervisor. The caution is standard for everyone in these circumstances, the police driver will also have been breathalysed and cautioned, it is not a 'formal caution' as in lieu of a charge or conviction, it is purely procedural and is NOT a record of any sort. Nothing for you to worry about and will not effect your insurance. Insurance companies will sort it out and if circumstances are as you say then it is not a problem for you -
Problem is - everyone checks it out. Absolutely rammed in March!
