  1. Early days. Today's Guardian obituary mentions he died at home shortly after becoming ill. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/dec/12/ian-bell-obituary
  2. I do too but it's such a personal song for Joni it feels full of her soul.
  3. I can't stop playing this Frazey Ford (The Be Good Tanyas) song. Love the unorthodox video. Go on dance - any which way.
  4. It makes me think of waiting for an art picture round on Uni Challenge when I can flourish against the physics heads.
  5. Sad song revealing the fragile state of Joni Mitchell's state of mind at the time. Sarah Mc Lachlan does a fine cover version.
  6. Enchanting. Clever video, makes a good quiz too. I'm sure I posted it on the original thread. Now just how long did each tableau take in the making .
  7. Excellent journalist, one of the best. Recently read for the second time his insightful biography on R.L Stevenson Dreams of Exile - A man who also died too early in life.
  8. Can't imagine it was any different when it changed its name and the big named bands still continued to perform at the Apollo. Led Zeppelin I think returned but Hendrix didn't. I might be wrong but I think The Beatles only played the Odeon in Glasgow with Dundee being another one. Might be a mention in the book 'Apollo Memories.' At every gig I always had a 'seat' in the stalls as near to the stage and oblivious to the balcony looking in danger of collapse although the sound of the audience was thunderous.
  9. Agree with the Apollo being the best venue although older folks often consider it was far superior when known as the Green's Playhouse. Not on the same grand scale of venues but GSA's drinking den the Vic was personally a special place on a Thursday night. It didn't have a great sound system but memory tells me The Clash, Jesus and Mary Chain and Belle & Sebastian coped well enough.
  10. Apparently they sang it in the Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour.
  11. No mention of taking the plunge with a Cafetiere for perfect coffee? Always black.
  12. No I didn't know he was related to Richard Thompson. I knew he had performed at a tribute concert for the late Kate McGarrigle. Once in the roads were opened. Now I want to post a Rufus instrumental......later.
  13. It took me on a journey through the Wainwright/McGarrigle dynasty which would then have resulted in me posting a Leonard Cohen. Instead...All you have to do is put your foot hard down to the floor........or spot the car you used to own.
