If anything good can come out of this, no prisoners should be getting battered and raped in prison, male, female or transgender. And every trans person should ideally be kept in the prison of their choosing if safe to do so.

It’s not prisoner cell block H 😂 Most women in prison are for drug offences and theft I think and have experienced abuse from men.

I mean it’s definitely happened at the worst time for the SNP but the crimes were committed in 2016 and 2019. No doubt the media are doing their thing but it might knock some sense into the politicians, not even just the bill but the whole discussion. Now this man might genuinely be a trans women but with self ID who knows. Almost trivialises gender dysphoria.

The first minister also stressed it was careful that people "do not, even inadvertently, suggest that trans women pose an inherent threat to women", adding: "Predatory men, as has always been the case, are the risk to women." So he’s not a trans women after all? Or he is but isn’t a risk anymore?

More of a medical condition, with potential for comorbidity mental health issues, depression and anxiety etc. The more I learn about this the more you have to sympathise with trans people (not extreme activists) and the need for immediate healthcare. Hopefully the SNP are doing this.

I appreciate that, especially the lengthy wait times for treatment, psychological and / or medical. A lot needs to improve. Discussions on how we can de stigmatise gender dysphoria would be helpful but seems almost impossible given the culture war going on.

I think they should have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria before obtaining a GRC from a suitably qualified specialist.

People should have to speak with a specialist before they are able to legally change their gender, especially adolescents. Obviously you can’t force people to engage in treatment, even if it’s just speaking to a psychologist but allowing young people, especially given the increase in young females experiencing gender dysphoria the ability to change gender without speaking to someone, doesn’t appear to be good practice.

And that’s extreme. Or wrong basically. But that’s possibly leading up to banning “conversion therapy” which I think is in the hate speech bill which reading between the lines might including talk therapy. Again, a potentially extreme position.

Removing the need for a gender dysphoria diagnosis at this stage of the debate is an extreme position to take imo.

The SNP and the greens seem comfortable sharing platforms and views with the extreme trans rights side though.

How so? If it’s the content of the sign, you see that said regularly across social media. And politicians sharing platforms with people who’ve previously said similar things.
