  2. Technical issues have screwed up the image being loaded. It will be loaded later
  3. Hi, I brought this t-shirt out a few years ago and with the 40th anniversary of the 1078 World Cup this year, I thought I would re issue it with the proceeds going to the Scotland supporters club in London, Lunnainn Albannaich. The price is £15 incl p+p with a couple of free badges thrown in. If you want one please gift the money via paypal to la99999@btopenworld.com entering your address and size required.
  4. In the brave new TAMB there seems to be no place for talking nonsense about scurrilous friendly rumours, so come on, who has priced up Peru and what are the best options so far? KLM looking favourite from what I can see. Any tips for other destinations? Machu Pichu has never really grabbed me to be honest.
  5. Looking to visit the Lake Como region at the end of June with the other half. She has always wanted to go there and has a reasonable travel voucher to spend on a decent hotel. Any tips on where to stay appreciated? Is one area better than another? Is there an airport that is better for this area over any other? Any advice on transfers from the airport appreciated as well as dining.
  6. This book is an absolute gem for any Scotland fan. Well produced in a hardback issue, it has a fantastic range of photos of players and various artefacts surrounding the Scotland team down the years from fanzines to world cup singles. There's even some words to accompany the pictures. If you''ve not bought it yet, stick it on your christmas list so that your family or partners know you want it. You won't regret it
  7. We are having the club AGM in the same pub on the 24th of November. New members welcome to join on the night at £15 a head. Its a free bar and food for the first part of the evening so you get your membership back virtually straight away.
  8. Has there been a thread started to thank West Ham for doing right by Scotland :-) Then again, by the time the SFA get round to picking the successor he may well have been punted from there.
  9. Haven't listened to them all. The Souness one gets good reviews
  10. If you are interested in what he has to say about his approach to football his interview with Graham Hunter is very interesting. He talks very well about the game and his approach to it. All basic stuff but after Strachan and his meanness of spirit, its completely refreshing. Due to my technical inability I can't post the link on here but google graham hunter big interview michael o'nell and it will come up
  11. The Albion pub will be showing the Scotland v Netherlands friendly in its upstairs bar. The address is 2/3 New Bridge Street and the nearest tube is Blackfriars
  12. Usual split flag design match badge is available at www.loonyalba.com £4 a badge, including p&p, which is more expensive than usual but only a limited number made hence the temporary increase
  13. Lunnainn Alba, the London Scotland supporters club, will be having their AGM in the upstairs bar of the Albion pub on Saturday the 25th of November at 7pm. Closest tube is Blackfriars. This is for club members only but if someone wishes to join on the night for next year's membership they are very welcome. The membership fee is £15 and includes a free t-shirt. Free bar and food will be provided on the night.
  14. The Albion will be showing the game probably both upstairs and downstairs if the numbers are there. The comedian is not happening . Hopefully all the entertainment will be on the pitch. The pub is run by a Canadian of Scottish heritage called Scott. It was bouncing for the Lithuania game so hopefully there will be a good atmosphere once more.
  15. As with the Lithuania game, the Slovakia game will be screened in a Scotland friendly environment in the Albion pub, the nearest tube is Blackfriars.
  16. In Marjory Nimmo's day the STC had a lot fewer members so that analogy does not really apply. Given the increase in numbers of staff and new (?) technology there is still no excuse for this truly appalling level of service. Am interested in getting in on the ATAC gig you mentioned earlier if there are cushy privileges involved. Can you give me some details?
  17. The upstairs bar of the Albion pub, closed tube Blackfriars, has been hired by Lunnainn Albannaich to show the Lithuania game on the Friday night. Anyone in London and surrounding area who wants to watch the game in a Scotland friendly environment feel free to go along. No charge.
  18. I am planning to organise a bus into the back of the Lithuanian beyond to go to a game on the Saturday afternoon. We are planning on going to see Nevėžis v Trakai B which is about an hour and a half from Vilnius with a 4pm ko. This is a Lithuanian Division 2 game. The bus will be leaving Vilnius at 11am and coming back straight after the game. The bus will be 15 euros ahead which includes a donation to the Sunshine Appeal. Anyone interested please PM me
  19. And the good news is they have refunded my hotel costs in full and stuck a 25 euro, I think, compensation on top of the original cost of £128. Total refund was £151. Had exchanged a couple of emails in the last few weeks but nothing serious in terms of where is my money so they have done right by me. Still wouldn't use them again however. It wasn't too bad it happening here but somewhere abroad may well have been a complete nightmare.
  20. Anyone wanting to read what I believe is the definitive account of the EC Referendum campaign should get All Out War by Tim Shipman. Well written with a lot of personal details about the main players, their friendships and their enemies. Reading it you also wonder if anyone in the Tory party will ever vote for Boris Johnson as leader as he comes out of it as a duplicitous bar steward , funnily enough.
  21. Emailed them today as there has been no resolution. They said they were arguing with the hotel company over whose fault it was but I think they are a shambles. Am expecting it to drag on. Guy on reception at the day was very good. He asked them to re send their email of confirmation they had sent Park Inn but they wouldn't or couldn't do it. Regarding the comment about Expedia, they guy at the Park Inn said this kind of experience was an awful lot more common than you reckoned. He could also have been a very convincing liar and if so deserves an oscar for his performance on the phone :-)
  22. Anyone in the London area or down on holiday who fancies coming along to our pub crawl treasure hunt on the 22nd of July please get in touch. It will be held in the Smithfield/Clerkenwell area which is not that well known an area but has a range of interesting boozers. We are meeting at 3pm in the Three Compasses pub just up from Farringdon Station and once the teams are organised we will be starting on the treasure hunt. A couple of rounds will be bought by the club and there will be prizes for the winning team.
  23. On a separate note I was standing outside Dumfries station in pishing rain waiting on a taxi when a Spanish guy came up and asked me if he could get a taxi. I said I would call one for him and told him the driver would be 15 minutes and he would pick him up inside. I asked him where he was from and he went Valencia. My reply was a polite version of wtf are you doing here when he could be in Valencia. He was amazed I'd actually been there. He was going to work as a kitchen porter in a hotel in the wilds of Galloway having previously worked near Oxford. He told me there was no work in Valencia so here he was in pishing wet Scotland.
  24. My only suggestion is take loads of money. Was at a wedding on Lake geneva last year and it was very very expensive
