  1. Ok - that would seem to make sense. Ah okay that definitely seems to fit the situation. All in bold is consistent to what I was told. Insurance company has said it will affect my premium unless/until the police insurers pay out, at which time they will have deemed to have accepted liability. (The driver of the police vehicle did shake my hand & apologised as I left, so I'm guessing they will be admitting the collision was their fault). Thanks all for your input, I feel more reassured now after having seeds of doubt sown by friends. (if you make yourself known to me in the Iron Horse or Ferry on Saturday, I'll buy you a drink).
  2. Yes, the insurance company said they think they are covering their arses incase I make a claim against them for personal injury, which I'm not. Hurt my back, neck & was winded at the time but apart from my lower back, which is still a little painful, nothing major.
  3. Cheers Donny - as you know SY Police have a history of err not quite getting things right? I did consider contacting the APS in charge but wanted to be sure of my facts before doing so. I don't wish to appear adversarial either but don't want it on my record or more importantly, to affect my insurance.
  4. Hmm possibly. As far as I can remember he said he was going to issue a caution as it was standard procedure where police officers were involved in a RTA. He then took a statement from me & finally breathalysed me as that was also 'standard procedure' in a RTA. Yes, that was my understanding too. I'm guessing so. What would constitute an 'unofficial' caution? I can't recall the exact words but it was something like 'I have to caution you as standard procedure & that anything you say will be taken down & may be used in evidence etc.'
  5. Thanks to all. I was a bit shaken & winded at the time so wasn't thinking clearly but I do recall him saying it was standard procedure when police officers were involved in a RTA. It was only afterward I started to question the reasons for the caution. I realise that the law on this could be different in England & Wales to Scotland however?
  6. I was involved in a traffic incident last week. The guy in front suddenly stopped to allow a car to turn right in front of him. I stopped too but an unmarked police car hit me from behind. I was told we had to wait for a senior officer to arrive as it was standard procedure when a police vehicle was involved in a RTA. When the officer arrived I was taken into his van & given a caution prior to making a statement & breathalysed. I'm now told that the officer shouldn't have given me a caution & that this goes on your record & could affect car insurance in the future. The leader of Sheffield City Council is a personal friend of mine & believes the police have acted beyond their powers & would like to take it further. Does anyone know about police cautions? Reading up about them seems to suggest they are given to people who admit an offence but I didn't as I don't believe I committed any offence. Any advice/views would be welcome before I consider my position & next move.
  7. Usually agree with your posts Donny, but Goldfinger - Sean Connery & the Dr No theme for me
  8. I agree to a certain extent but that's his job surely? There wasn't exactly a huge crowd & if they can take the time to stop & search handbags then they ought to be able to spot someone who's drunk enough to be spotted during the game, no? Of course he could have sneaked a half bottle in & topped himself up . There were a couple of guys sitting across from us at the airport. You were pointed out once at a game - Spain in Alicante, I think? Just looked a bit like him/ you that's all.
  9. Can I direct you to the original post which asked if anyone could shed any light on 'Rangers fans fighting'?
  10. I think it's easier to refuse someone from entry than to eject them when inside. He wasn't with the group of wee neds up the back. From what I could see he was just standing with one other guy. I doubt if he'd have had the intervention of the UBs on entry. It appeared that the UB got involved when the police did. It 'appeared' that he went quietly after the stewards & police spoke to him. There was no need for a few of the youngsters to come charging over seats to grapple with the stewards & police & get involved. I like a drink as much as the next guy but am sick of idiots who get so pished they're a liability. I got knocked over a row of seats at Derby by a so called fellow fan who was do drunk he fell down the stairs. I think there's been enough calamitous events at the football caused by drunken fans. I'm sure you'll agree. (As an aside. We're you in the bar at Dusseldorf airport the day after the game wearing a yellow shirt & jeans sat with another guy)?
  11. No? How did you get to that?I posted what I saw & criticised both the stewards for allowing someone who was evidently drunk & the UBs.
  12. If he can stop my wife & ask to search her bag, then yes, he can stop a drunken boy from getting access. 'FFS'.I didn't say it was the answer or anyone's fault. He didn't get drunk inside the ground. If security are checking fans on the way in then surely they can spot someone who's so driunk he has to be ejected? There was conjecture over what happened & I responded.
  13. Stewards tried to eject a guy for being drunk. Police got involved then Union Bears ran down & pulled him back. Guy shouldn't have been allowed into ground drunk. UB shouldn't have got involved. Feel free to make the rest up.
  14. Went to this last night & thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't excellent but good nevertheless. I thought the Bollywood ending was pretty funny. Only negative - despite public announcement requesting phones to be switched off, why do some people think it doesn't apply to them. Girl 3 rows in front was told 3 times to turn her phone off & stop filming.
  15. Played v Rangers at Ibrox at least twice. 1970 in an Inter Cities Fairs Cup tie which ended 1-1 1972 Cup Winners Cup SF which Rangers won 2-0
  16. It's a lottery.................... Andy Webster Michael Ball Bert Konterman Kevin Muscat Paolo Vanoli Olivier Bernard Karl Svensson ...all worse than Nisbet.
  17. Definitely. I only discovered these 2 or 3 yrs back on a 9hr wait at Nairobi airport on way back from Madagascar. I go in one everytime I fly unless it's only a 2hr wait. Usually football on TV, free drinks, snacks etc. & more comfortable than the standard airport seats As somebody mentioned, even if you have to pay it's generally worth it. The only downside is, now they're getting more well known, a lot of young people use them as creches, sitting with their laptops plugged in watching films, music, blogging, or glued to Twitter & Basefook while their children run riot unsupervised all over the place. Can get a bit noisy with squealing kids. Generally ends in panic when whatever the parents are watching finishes & they realise that young Brooklyn, Romeo, India, Summer, Skyler, Egypt, Tulullah, Reignbeau, Poppy, Honey, Daisy, Apple* (insert name) has found the exit & is somewhere else having gone on a journey of discovery. All in all definitely worth it if you've a long wait.
  18. Thank you. You could possibly be right in that certain articles may have been removed from certain websites & are not visible now. My guess is that it's more likely to come through Basefook & Twatter & the people that frequent those sites?
  19. Maybe I don't know what a homepage is then? I went onto the Vanguard Bear's website & pressed Home. Then I backtracked through previous articles & saw nothing to support TJ's assertion that the trouble in George Sq was organised by the Vanguard Bears. I then pressed Forum but couldn't access it as it required me to either Sign In or Register. I've no wish to register so chose not to. Still with me so far? Splendid! I think as the Master of Bawbaggery on here, I have much to learn from you in the 'making an arse of yourself' department. At no time have I 'attempted to sweep scumbaggery from fellow Rangers fans in this incident. I have already said I'd be disappointed if the VB were instrumental in the organisation of the trouble in George Sq & was asking Tartan Jon to provide the link. I wasn't calling him out, just asking for proof. If there is evidence I'll condemn it like I'm sure any right minded reasonable Rangers fan would.
  20. No I didn't. I went onto the website Home page & scrolled back through previous articles & can't find any link to anything connected to what Tartan Jon's referring. I couldn't access any other parts of the site as I'm not a member so couldn't sign in & access any of the forums. Is that any clearer for you?
  21. No need to apologise but if you can post a link then I'd be interested. I'd be very disappointed too as the VB have produced some interesting articles in the past & I'd hate to learn this is something they'd endorse let alone organise. Fair enough?
  22. Really? I've just had a look on the website & can't see anything remotely like what you're suggesting. I only looked on the Home page of course as you have to be a Member to enter the forum. Perhaps you're a member so can post a link?
