  1. Brilliant to see Billy Gilmour getting such a good run of games. I was surprised he started yesterday, assumed he’d be rested, but he’s clearly earned RDZ’s trust and alongside Gross (potential opponent at Euros!) seems to be a first pick in CM. He’s now reaching 100 career starts, and once he finds his shooting boots I can see him going up another level. Fascinating to see Ryan Christie being reinvented in the CDM role (helped change game when he came on at half time yesterday losing 2-0). It looks like his switch to this role (maybe replacing Jack) could open up an attacking position in the Euros squad, for someone like Barnes - if he gets himself fit…
  2. Article in The Athletic and KT says he won’t be returning to Arsenal in Jan - via an interview in Spanish media. The way he talks also suggests he won’t return next season - Arsenal discussed in the past tense. Ideal if he can get a solid 15-20 games in second half of season over there.
  3. Tom Cairney in The Athletic saying he’s keen to get back involved... maybe a few years ago when we needed him, however, he always seemed to pull out. Wouldn’t improve the team in my opinion. Cairney’s focus is on Fulham’s top-flight status but he has not ruled out other playing targets. Scotland’s qualification for the European Championship next summer presents an opportunity for the twice-capped midfielder, who was born in Nottingham but qualifies through his father, and he is eager to stake his claim. But he acknowledges the difficulty of removing the incumbents after they did so well to reach the finals via two single-game play-offs that both went to penalties. “They have done incredibly to qualify for the Euros,” he says. “It would be amazing if I could make that squad, and get the chance to play in the Euros. There aren’t many players that have the chance to do that. It’s one of the biggest stages, behind a World Cup. It would be incredible, but they’ve done so well with the squad they have to qualify, so we’ll see.”
  4. Steven Caulker is being monitored by Steven Reid. Having an good season in Turkey, his team are top of the league and says in the interview he’d love to play for Scotland now he’s in a much better place mentally. The full article is in The Athletic.
