  1. "The Faroe Islands had two glories chances to score (one because Gordon fumbled). What would the mood be if it endes 4-2? We keep saying that we're strong in midfield. I don't see it. Umpteen times none of the midfielders dropped off to give the defenders a passing option. Several times our midfielders backed off them, allowing them to shoot or cross."
  2. He will. Clarke probably promised him a starting berth when Euro 2020 comes around. That may have swung his decision to play for us.
  3. Look at their goal scoring records. It's almost identical. Both got 22 goals in the Championship in the same season.
  4. Pace wise? Most definitely. And yes, generally, he is a better player. Finishing? It's marginal. I think it's a question whether we want pace or physicality up front. It's not a good idea playing both of them, as last night they were perpetually on different pages.
  5. His quality of life comes first. The timing is a shame, for all parties, but it is what it is. Personally, from here on in I'm going to.put my personal prejudice of Che Adams aside and judge him on his performances and his ability. That being said, he looks no better than McBurnie or Dykes. Dykes gives us some physicality, at the very least.

  7. I only read the part that I highlighted. Ususally, when a post begins with an insult, all won't bode well. 😛 Yes. The midfield are supposed to protect the back 3/5, like he said, but the very fact that they didn't last might or against Austria or Israel only solidifies my point. My point was the midfield, in general, not just the one match.
  8. Agreed. We can talk actics and formations till we're blue In the face, though (and it feels like I have) but if the players aren't capable of taking responsibility and closing down their man, there is only so much progression. Imagine Scott Brown in this team, or a prime Darren Fletcher. Those two would've closed down their man with urgency.. instead of letting him shoot or pass.
  9. A fully fit and sharp Griffiths is better than all the strikers we have availablr, particularly finishing. But sadly, for whatever reason, Griffiths isn't available. There are things bigger than football, so hopefully he gets his head in order.
  10. Yep. Steve Clarke is trying to be fluid with the system, which is a good thing, as it means the only constant will be the three centre backs and 2 wing backs. The fact that all three goals came from almost the same place would suggest that it's the midfielders to blame. None of them (apart from Jack) are defensively aware, but at least do the basics by closing down. It's simple fundamentals.
  11. But we're supposed to have three central midfielders as it is. Look at the links I posted. To happen three times is absolutely incredible.
  12. Sarcasm? As this part was fun to read "The role of the two central midfielders wasn't to create, it was to protect" Yes. The midfield was at fault for all of our three goals and yet their main job was to protect. That cemented my point.
  13. The centerbacks used to be the concern. That's why we switched to a back three. Now we're harder to beat and to score again. 2 of the goals against Austria were avoidable. We gave them space in midfield. The goal we conceded to israel was the same https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/12259721/israel-1-1-scotland
  14. Agreed. What he did in the first half was when he used his blistering pace to get away from the defenders, before being confused as to what to do when he was close to the keeper sums him up.
  15. Yeah. I hope it's the endgame, though. I know that he's showing loyalty but there no reason not to call up Gilmour, Turnbull and Gauld.. or even one of them. It was, but I'm reserving judgement on Patterson. I actually though Fraser did ok.
  16. Yeah. That's what I want, too. He could play anywhere, for any club.
  17. Agreed. We are improving and it's great to see us being hard to beat and harder to score against. But yeah, the next thing for Clarke to fix is the midfield. I'm not even sure if the majority of the midfielders are international class.... but I have my suspicions. Work in progress, though.
  18. And the even stranger thing is that we usually play a double-pivot. Their main job is to give the defenders an outlet. I saw none of that last night. Personally, I don't care that Gilmour isn't playing first team football. Even if he is playing u23 football/ it's still on par with the SPL. Gilmour has to be in. I don't trust many of our central midfielders, especially after this last batch of matches.
  19. It's just frustrating to me. Maybe the comfort zone of the SPL is blinding us on how McGregor. McLean is a Championship player. McGinn gets a pass, with his goals. I'm not even sure what the solution is. McTominay, Gilmour and McGinn? If it is, chances are, we wont see Gilmour for maybe a few years. I don't think Clarke will play a player who isn't a first teamer.
  20. Yeah. That's what I was going to say. I doubt at this point Steve Clarke will introduce new faces.
  21. (If you're the kind of person that hates freedom of speech or people that are opposed by different opinions, not not comment, as it'll just show you up as a snowflake. So, if you want to disagree then fine, but be constructive about the points that I'm making. Personal insults are neither constructive or smart) Scoring 4 was great, but its the stuff that happened in the middle that put me in a mood. It's good that we collected 3 points, but I'm still not happy with the flow of the match. When your overlapping center backs (Tierney and McTominay) are are the most creative parts of the team, and the most influential (Tierney: 3 MOTM performances in a row), there's problems. Dykes and Adams only had two shots in the entire match. One of them Adams just blasted from outside the box, and the one was when he scored a half chance. I looked at Austria's stats against the Faroes. Austria created 7 "big chances", to our 1. Austria got 20 shots from inside the box. We got 7. The Faroe Islamds had two glories chances to score (one because Gordon fumbled). Would would the mood be if it endes 4-2? We keep saying that we're strong in midfield. I don't see it. Umpteen times none of the midfielders dropped off to give the defenders a passing option. Several times our midfielders backed off them, allowing them to shoot or cross. According to the heat mat, we had the ball down the left channel more often, then the right, and we had the ball in the middle seldom. We have 3 central midfielders and yet we don't dominate the middle? Even against two Faroe Islands midfielders. That's an indictment on McGinn, McGregor and McLean. And since those three are our best trio (replace Jack with McLean) Against Faroe Islands we should be dictating the tempo from midfield. If it wasn't for Tierney's hat trick of assists, it would have only been 1-0. That scenario would've added even more credence to this post. We ARE making progress. We are harder to beat and score against, and that's down to playing with a trio at the back, but there is a long way to go. The defence has been sorted. Now onto the midfield. (Trolls will be ignored. If you (Trolls) must, leave an emoji.. not that you (Trolls) need an invitation. 2nd most popular TAMBer! Yay!)
  22. Or could it be that human beings (referring to your fellow Scotland fans as "cunts" is utterly pathetic) are programmed to have different opinions? There's a certain element of the TAMB that are dictatorial and frown on freedom of expression. Well, personally, I'll give my honest opinion, at all times, I don't really care what the TAMB Nazis think.
  23. I don't know. Patterns of play do play a part. When is the time that we sliced a defence apart with a 10-15 pass move? The fact that our two starting strikers only got two shots, in the entire match, fills in a lot of the gaps.
  24. Do you seriously want me to download the video and make a cut of all his mishaps? 11 successful passes in 78 minutes? Yeah. Ok. He was fantastic. The heir to the Ronaleo throne This Is the only site that I have ever browed where opinions aren't wanted. It would appear that we should all have the same opinion. What a fun, creative place these people want this to be.
  25. He isn't a goalscorer, though. I'm a fan of Dykes, he's a worker and he throws his weight around. I've already said what I think of Adams. Looking at it, though. The issues are much deeper than that. In the entire match our two starting strikers only managed two shots. That's a sobering stat.
