  1. Fair enough. Still, would prefer it if McLeish didn't say anything and the SFA moved on to something different. After all, McLeish didn't get us qualified either and this is "a results based business", hence why Strachan is no longer in the job.
  2. I was offered triple time plus a couple of hundred shift bonus to work Christmas Day. What do you think I said?
  3. The SFA is in need of an overhaul, going by most of our opinions. Probably more of a priority than finding a new manager.
  4. Nah, you're just not getting it pal. What's all this national football stuff about if it there's no principle to it? If a shinier car is more important then we all may as well not bother. Employed, and with the same employer coming on 11 years now. Me, that is. McLeish could only give us 11 months.
  5. Ok mate, I get where you are coming from. If McLeish was appointed I'd get right behind him, go to the games, buy the merchandise, defend him and the Scotland team on this site. But I'd prefer someone who, whether they had a contract and left uncommitted or not, had never been Scotland manager before- who then chose to leave for a club rather continuing as the manager of Scotland. For Birmingham, no less!
  6. Brown didn't leave for more money. But McLeish did. Brown wasn't getting any money. Nor did Brown leave to accept a contract which would rule him out of playing for Scotland. See the difference now?
  7. Just to be clear, I'm a Hibby. My mothers side of the family, and my brother, are all jambos, and me and my dads side are all hibbies. Should exonerate me from any perceived loyalty to a religion/monarch, or green/blue team. Thanks
  8. Whoever leads the team gets my support, that's just who I am. And that's whether he get's us to a tournament or not. But the position needs to be respected. And we as supporters should also have a responsibility to help maintain that by opposing moves that have the potential to jeopardise that.
  9. On first reading that McLeish was interested I was a bit surprised. And then I thought back to how well he'd done before and how exciting it would be to have him back and doing well again. But seriously, if he does do well and then mid-campaign Barnsley comes sniffing... I just think it's better to not risk it. I would like the role of national team boss to retain some dignity and respect.
  10. Just very peeved at how to some people it can be justified. Scott Brown retired from unpaid international duty in order to prolong his playing career. The equivalent would be that he left to play for Venezuela instead, or something like that.
  11. Need more decency in these comments. More decent people.
  12. Mccaughey85 you're spot on mate! McLeish and Smith are a couple of scumbags for what they did. They abandoned Scotland when we needed them most, and for that they should never ever be considered again. It should be written in to every Scotland managers contract - you abandon Scotland, you're done for good.
  13. McLeish should not be a considered. And neither should Walter Smith. They abandoned the Scotland national football team. Once you do that, you're done for good. Allowing them back would set an extremely bad example!
  14. Surely you mean all three sets of players they managed were guilty of it?
  15. I just don't think we should be made to believe that we have the quality of players to easily qualify and that the missing ingredient is a half decent manager. Strachan is a decent manager and the players we have are good enough to qualify, but to do it requires time and effort. Strachan and the players put in the effort, but just ran out of time! I would've been content at them all doing another campaign together with the introduction of a few more faces on the pitch.
  16. Yeah, I agree. It's a wee bit worrying.
  17. Hmmm. Whatever. We've got Malky to cheer us up now. Long live the revolution and stuff.
  18. But after Walter Smith, Alex McLeish, and now Gordon Strachan, don't you think we may have more of a problem with the quality of the players rather than the managers? We have come painfully close to qualifying - and I would have liked the current good run we are on not to have been disrupted. We were having a really good run of form! Hopefully Malky will keep it running with a good result against Holland. Was nowhere near my favourite for the job but I will get right behind him and the team, as I believe all Scotland supporters should.
  19. If the problem is that we don't have the talent available to qualify at the moment, then changing managers won't help. And after 20 years of blaming managers we are no further forward. That was my point.
  20. Scott Gemmill should be considered
  21. Well, if Scotland doesn't qualify for the Euros then maybe he'll have a point then? Or will it not be until after failing to qualify for the next World Cup that he'll have a point? If Alex Ferguson takes the job and fails, who's to blame?
  22. Why is Paul Lambert in contention? Could someone please explain because I really don't see him as a better manager than Strachan.
